A big YES to God, makes NO to trouble easier

January 12, 2022 | 25 comments

You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage — pleasantly, smilingly, unapologetically — to say “no” to other things. And the way you do that is by having a bigger “yes” burning inside.

~ Stephen R. Covey

Say YES to God, and you’ll find it much easier to say NO to temptation.

Say YES to prayer.

Say YES to being spiritually minded.

Say YES to expressing love, wisdom, intelligence, and foresight.

Say YES to listening for God’s direction first.

Say YES to all good things coming from God.

When you say YES to God, its much easier to say NO to laziness, apathy, excess appetite, gluttony, fear, selfishness, and disease.

Say YES to God and excel today!

    1. Me, too. YES, GOD. Praise your holy name!!!
I have just founded a non-profit organization and find just the doing of this act for others is the biggest YES, GOD I have said into the cosmos so far in my nearly 75 yrs. YES,GOD and take action!

      1. Lisa, congratulations on founding a non-profit organization to help others. That is so admirable, and very inspiring to me, that you are letting God flow though you in that way. If you are comfortable doing so, could you share what the organization does? Perhaps folks here on SV would be interested in helping/donating in some way. All blessings to you and your endeavor.

Yes, yes, yes to God alone — today and every day!

      2. Yes Lisa, I agree with Rose. How can we (I) help with your non-profit?

Thank you Evan for today’s blog and everyday’s blog. They are so inspiring!

  1. I’m learning the importance of prioritising God in my life and it’s not something that can be forced, you have to really want to do it, and posts like this help remind me to stick at it! Thank you Evan!

  2. Christian Science raises the standard of liberty and cries: “Follow me! Escape from the bondage of sickness, sin, and death!” Jesus marked out the way. Citizens of the world, accept the “glorious liberty of the children of God,” and be free! This is your divine right.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 227:21–26)

I say YES, I will accept it according to the standard of liberty which Jesus taught us. and doing
my best to follow his directions, sticking with them, and saying an emphatic NO to all that
is unlike our all-loving God. Evan has given us a wonderful list of things to say yes to –
all very helpful – Many thanks.

  3. Everything we do enters into our consciousness through the portal of perception. Saying,”Yes,” to God is accepting that all powerful, knowledgeable presence into our lives which expands that view of our experience beyond whatever that portal could humanly perceive.

  4. As we read in our textbook “hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true and you will bring these into your experience proportionally to their occupancy of your thoughts.”
    Yes, yes, yes!

  5. I love that the Yes has to be burning inside!
YES to Mind’s omnipotent omnipresence of intelligence through all time and throughout infinite space. YES to divine Love’s absolute allness in all identity of individuals, events, government, education, and business. YES to Soul’s joyous kingdom reigning in arts and music, poetry and nature. Yes to the atmosphere of Spirit where we live, move, breathe and safely have our being in the forever here and now.

  6. Fun to think think that as we say YES to God and spirituality, God responds with a BIG YES to us. (We say Yes because He first said Yes to us)!!!!

    1. Thank you for this wonderful article Angie. It discusses Elijah in 1 Kings being called out of the cave by God to discover that God is not speaking to us in the loud aggressive modes of mortal mind, but rather in the still small voice. Brings to mind a favorite hymn 457, which has been running through my mind a lot lately. One line is, “You’re not in the storm or the earthquake or the wave, not in the wind or the flame. In the still of the evening, in the hush of the morning call my name.”

    2. Thank you for taking the message a step further and providing your very meaningful references. I find them most helpful and I am grateful.

  7. Thank you Evan for bringing this to us. I have reminded myself many times when negativity “in whatever form” comes to thought I say NO. That sets the stage for what we want to say Yes to. Seems so simple but it’s such a powerful stand for Truth. Thank u everyone for such inspiration today.

  8. A recent article in the Christian Science Sentinel, “The prayer of Yes,” by Bunny McBride, is right along these lines and very helpful.
Thank you Evan and all for helping to illumine our world with light!

  9. A wholehaerted YESS to God and to all what Evan says today in SpiritView. I experienced Kindness from several persons while shopping in a supermarket today. So grateful for God’s expressions everywhere!
Thank you very much dear Evan for your healing spiritual ideas which cause so many inspiring comments !♡
