Agree to be Well

October 24, 2014 | 9 comments

Are you agreeing to be well today?

We’re always agreeing with something, and then living out what we agree to. And mortal mind seems to keep sending suggestions our way that are not in our best interest to agree to.

Suggestions like, “I might not feel well today. My toe hurts. That food will make be sick. I’m going to ache from working in the yard yesterday.” And the list of potential trouble goes on.

When these suggestions pop up in thought, we make a decision. We either agree or disagree. To ignore, is to agree.

So, what’s your choice? Are you going to mentally side with health or suffering? Are you going to outline a schedule of misery for mortal mind to fill in on your behalf, or exercise your dominion to cast out suggestions of suffering and stay well?

It’s your choice. Make it a good one.

“’Agree to disagree’ with approaching symptoms of chronic or acute disease, whether it is cancer, consumption, or smallpox. Meet the incipient stages of disease with as powerful mental opposition as a legislator would employ to defeat the passage of an inhuman law. Rise in the conscious strength of the spirit of Truth to overthrow the plea of mortal mind, alias matter, arrayed against the supremacy of Spirit….Then, when thou art delivered to the judgment of Truth, Christ, the judge will say, ‘Thou art whole!’” Science and Health, p. 390.

  1. Thank you again Evan this is a very good opportunity to start or keep practicing healthily and progressively everyday. It applies to all forms of beliefs of lack. Like for example I just have so much money, etc. left I don’t have for the next few days or so. Or one maybe imagining that Christian Science is hard to understand or any subject for that matter. Then one must be willing to disagree with such unhealthy or unfruitful attitude.

  2. What an eye-opener!, Thanks Evan! What I like that you point out here is…”to ignore is to agree!” I had never thought of it quite in that way before! We, of course don’t want to ignore a problem but to see it, for the lie, that it really is!..If God does not see it, the lie cannot be real!
“Choosing our thoughts”.. sometimes doesn’t seem like a choice though, at times, it feels like a burden, but through knowing the Christ Truth and establishing that “Truth” in our thinking leads us to the right choice and we can hold on to that!..accepting God’s Truth as the only real, forever!
This thought of God, as Love, keeps us on solid ground. I choose God!..that can,and is, our only option!!..Let’s all agree only with God’s Truth about our fellow man and the world!
Joyous Day to All! : )

  3. I too liked the “to ignore is to agree” statement. I’ve found that these suggestions are like weeds in a garden. It is very easy to remove a weed from a garden as soon as it appears. But if you are not on top of things and let the weed grow bigger roots and lock into the soil it is much hard to remove it. And if you let it grow long enough, it creates seeds that result in even more weeds.

So we also need to remember to disagree with suggestions like the following: “I’m too busy to disagree with that suggestion right this minute…I’ll do it later”. That is just another variation on “to ignore is to agree”. Often just taking a moment to identify the suggestion as a “suggestion” is all it takes to disagree with it.

A big THANKS to Evan for this blog and to everyone that provides comments! I’ve really enjoyed all of the comments the last few days.

  4. I love all your blogs Evan, and usually read them first thing. This one is particularly helpful. Thank you so much and Brian’s thought about the mm suggestions being like weeds was very helpful too.

  5. Thanks Evan! Being vigilant is so important. It’s a moment-by-moment way of life. Like others, I too like the statement that ignoring is agreeing.

  6. Thanks Evan. I have to remind myself we don’t fix sick bodies. We embrace the truth about our beings and not except suggestions contrary to the perfection in which we were made.
