  1. Be willing to draw the line, hmm. At first this seemed a bit abstract and I didn’t know quite what to make of it. Then I listened for any thoughts and I heard, “thus far and no further,” as if I were speaking to error. Like drawing a line in the sand and saying what I am willing to accept (only what God’s knows about me) and what I cannot accept because it is untrue (the temptations and lies of error). Also a line as a mental barrier or a circle within which we are all safe, like those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High will abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91). Peaceful day to all

    1. Good thinking, it applies directly to raising children, launching them with the guidance to live their lives according to God’s will, not mine.

  2. Believing in a mortal ego , everyone believes their differing .’.thus far and no further’ ethics are correct, or the best they can achieve at the time. Too many influences can creep in. I find it helpful to start with my source, God. His /Her drawn lines are quite clear if I stop and listen.

‘Year by year Thy hand have brought us, on through dangers oft unknown.
When we wandered Thou hast found us. When we doubted sent us light.
Still Thine arm hast been around us, All our paths were in Thy sight.’ Hymn 115
    Happy Day all.❣️

  3. I heard it is morally right to obey the law, but is it morally right to obey an immoral law? I don’t want to go into a burning fiery furnace but I do want to do what is right. So I’m praying that the law makers CAN hear the Christ message too.

    1. “God’s law is in three words,”writes MBE, “I AM ALL.”
There’s no inside AND outside of ALL. No here AND there, then AND now, us AND them. Everything in our experience is within our own consciousness. The line to be drawn is within our own consciousness and no where else and the line to be drawn is between the real and the unreal.

Did God make an unjust law maker? If we accept unjust laws or any evil as real, we’ll experience them. No one can escape allness. No one has ever escaped allness. We will shine as the light of the world when we make the moral choice to bear witness to divine reality as Jesus did: the kingdom of Heaven here, now, within everyone.

“May the divine light of Christian Science that lighteth every enlightened thought illumine your faith and understanding, exclude all darkness or doubt, and signal the perfect path wherein to walk, the perfect Principle whereby to demonstrate the perfect man and the perfect law of God”.
(The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 187:6–11)

      1. I am willing to draw the line, by quite listening and knowing what my Father, Mother, God knows about me
        and my fellow man.
I am so grateful for all the wonderful uplifting comments as always so very inspiring.

    2. Huge grins from your succinct reply, Thank you for shedding the light on our thinking, (reminds me of my late, great “grand” father. Thank you for sharing Jim.

    1. Thanks very much, Angie for this really wonderful article about Science and Health.
      Very worth to read ♡

  4. In Science and Health alongside the marginal headling ” Moral Victory”. Mary Baker Eddy says:

If Truth is overcoming error in your daily walk and conversation you can finally say “I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith…” (p. 21).

So maybe one could say that a working definition of morality is staying on course in thought, word and deed. It’s just what came to me now as something I can use today in my various pursuits…

    1. Very helpful Maddie, applies to the church work to be done here today. Helps me to stay on course in thought, work and deed always.

  5. My what positive and absolute replies. They all helped very much. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

  6. What came to me from that thoughts provoking
    thought of Evan’s was:-

“Adhesion, cohesion, and attraction are properties of Mind. They belong to divine Principle, and support the equipoise of that thought-force, which launched the earth in its orbit and said to the proud wave, “Thus far and no farther.”
    (S& H p. 124:20)

As I see it, God and His Christ draws that line for us that we must not cross over, and shows us the difference between right and wrong, reality and unreality, good and evil etc. We need to stay on the right side of that line, and make sure we actually let Christ eliminate the unreal from our consciousness, and proceed along the upper road to health and happiness.

We must “toe the line” – as a dictionary definition
gives it as: “accept the authority, policies, or principles of a particular group”. We have to
decide which group we are accepting as authority.

We are so fortunate to have Christian Science
to show us clearly which group we can rely on
    to keep us safe.

Thank you Evan, and everyone who has contributed to
this spiritview of life. All so helpful.

  7. I agree with David “what positive and absolute replies”. For me the beauty of Science is – within the absolutes are the keys to expanded thought “rising higher and higher from a boundless basis” ❣️❣️❣️
    Thank you Evan and all!

  8. Wow Josef, so right. Thanks that you mention that. I have to pray and work on that with a new neighbor who seems disturbingly talk nearly steadily loudly on her terrace or inside with open door and Windows.
Here drawing the line is surely stopping to be angry about this neighbor and praying to love her. She is a neighbor of Love so as all other neighbors as well. And as God’s child she surely can be considerate to her neighbors.

I am really joyfully surprised how many wonderfully inspired and inspiring comments result from this short but awesome toppic in today’s SpiritView.

And I learned very much from all your comments today , dear SpiritView friends .
And thank you Evan to make us ponder such seemingly simple thought resulting in these great ideas up and down here !
Lovely blessed day to all ♡♡♡

    1. To Uta and Josef, Over the years I’ve thought of this poem many times. It seems very appropriate for today’s question. “Heretic rebel, a thing to flout,
He drew a circle that shut me out.
But love and I had the will to win,
We drew a circle that took him in.”

  9. Day one, “…a fresh impulse, the great need of which I daily discern.” Nov.1898 MBE to seventy practitioners and teachers (James Neal’s Notes)

Man, the fullness of divine knowledge, does not have to be taught. The recognition of this fact appears as my fuller understanding. This experience–Class–is not extraneous knowledge
being imparted. All that takes place is in the Oneness of Being.

There can be no chemicalization. Chemicalization is only possible, even in belief, when two different identities meet and mix. It would require the belief that we have a human mind. Divine Mind, being All, precludes all human belief, all human conflict.

Divine Mind, being All, can only unfold Itself as Itself to Itself. This activity constitutes myself. All that is ever happening is Truth unfolding Its infinite Self.
“I cannot understand” is false suggestion. Any statement of “I” not in accordance with Mind is not the present state of my thought or condition. I am infinite understanding here and now because my true and only “I” is the full manifestation of divine Truth. The recognition of this spiritual fact is the law of annulment to any sense of restriction or limitation.

Divine Mind is forever manifesting Itself and man is the forever manifestation. The divine idea is divine understanding. The true nature of man is synonymous with the Word of God. I am the Word of God. The knowledge of God is God’s knowledge, and this is man. That which is taking place is a further revelation of what I already am. It is a welling up from within.

Divine ideas do not come to me. They originate as “I”. No inspiration can come from outside. I am not a person receiving Truth. I am the activity of Truth Itself. Truth never comes from outside but is inner subjective unfoldment. Class is the conscious activity of Truth which goes on expressing Itself and is entirely impersonal.

The realization I am the fullness of divine Mind and include all right ideas makes me aware of all I need to know. The divine Mind never repeats Itself. It is infinite diversity. There is only one concept—the divine concept.

Receptivity formerly appeared as a person having a mind of his own receptive to Truth coming from outside. But here and now it constitutes Mind’s revelation of Itself as my own understanding — Mind’s own recognition that the infinite range of Truth is already my identity.

The purpose of Christian Science is to behold everything from the standpoint of Truth Itself and thereby reject all limited sense. There is only one point of view — Truth’s own view. Man, the conscious activity of divine Principle, is God’s manifest Being.

  10. Dear Barbara,
Thank you for this timely declaration.
Especially on Saturday I look and see if there has been anything more to harvest in the field.
This morning I found a treasure. Thanks for it.
Please submit it to the Sentinel for everyone to read. It is worthy and efficacious. Just what I needed.
    Blessed…..

    1. Lovely to find your note of this morning, David. The James Neal’s Notes of Mrs. Eddy’s Nov. 1898 Class for seventy practitioners and teachers are already in printed form, titled “Man, the Divine Fullness.” They were gifted to Mulberry Press (U.K.) by a gentleman living in Sussex, England, who wrote the booklet’s frontispiece Introduction:

“Over fifty years ago my wife and I were introduced by our friend John Hargreaves to Doris Henty, a Christian Science practitioner in London. It was at that time when our young daughter was evidencing speech and mobility deprivation. Mrs. Henty gave us immediate and constant help, and at a subsequent meeting with her she showed me a little book of Notes from Mr. James Neal, CSD which she treasured, and then lent it to us for study. This was a great comfort for us, and in a later conversation Mrs. Henty explained that as a young girl she had suffered from a contorted physical condition and had received a complete healing through
this teacher’s work. It now gives me much happiness to pass along my own copy of these Notes to Mulberry Press to be preserved and shared with others.”

      1. Barbara,
I was introduced to Doris Henty’s book. I found it on Mulberry Press. I ordered the audio book.
I very much appreciate your reply. Thank you very much. I printed out the work and saved it.

  11. Interesting that the illustration is the single line of a heart that continues on indefinitely. Unfinished. Expanding.consciousness.
