“A bend in the road is not the end of the road…unless you fail to make the turn.”

  1. Spiritual awareness remains in our thoughts and moves forward when we are looking for the proper direction. I need to keep a proper thought as sometimes what would I find when I complete the curve as to what might be waiting for me to face as a new challenge.

  2. Evan, today’s quote got me thinking! Could it also mean that generally we prefer the path of least resistance- without bends, twists and turns? We are okay so long as things are going well, but quit in the face of some adversity? Willingness to go beyond the bend would then mean that we refuse to be overwhelmed or discouraged by human circumstances or events. And that we press on, persevere- never willing to quit or give up our reliance on God.

“So rest and relax and grow stronger
let go and let God share your load
Your work is not finished or ended
you’ve just come to a bend in the road.”

This stanza from a poem by Helen Steiner Rice ties in nicely with you post. Thanks for the sharing.

    1. “Strait” means confined, as in a straitjacket. Not necessarily synonymous with “straight” the shortest distance between two points, or without bends or turns. It’s also synonymous with “narrow,” which applies to mindsets as well as a physical dimension.

  3. Be willing to keep on the right track of spiritual truth even when hearing, seeing or reading about the false beliefs ever being exposed all around you.

  4. Thanks, Evan! And I love all the comments today, too! Such good metaphysical, creative, scientific thinking! I was thinking….. that just as the railroad tracks look like they come together (according to mortal sight), so the “bend” in the road can be seen through spiritual eyes as just a misperception, which true spiritual sight can straighten out! Are there really any bends in the “straight and narrow way”? Or is it just an illusion of material, corporal sense…..?? Happy U.S. Presidents’ Day to All!

  5. Well, all of the comments today are certainly inspiring and thought provoking – my sincere thanks to everyone!
