Catch your thermal for the day

December 21, 2017 | 31 comments

Have you ever noticed how many birds can soar to greater heights in the sky without flapping their wings? They don’t struggle to soar. They don’t furiously flap their wings to work their way higher. They don’t get all stressed out about how to achieve greater heights. They open their wings and let the wind carry them up and away. The thermals do the work for them, which is an upward current of warm air coming from beneath.

We can live the same way. We don’t have to struggle so, get all stressed out, fight furiously to gain ground, or flap our wings in distress to achieve greater heights of accomplishment. There are thermals to catch—inspirations of Truth and Love coming from divine Mind that serve to lift thought and experience higher.

Our “wings” are our receptivity to inspirations coming from God. Our “thermals” are the power and presence of God that support and sustain all progressive activity.

As children of God, we are fully supported and sustained by God. We are never left alone to fight for our health and existence. God is always present giving us everything we need to excel. We never lack.

The human mind often has little faith in God and tries to make things happen on its own. This is when we find ourselves “furiously flapping our wings,” and getting nowhere.

Shut the human mind down and open to divine Mind. Divine Mind is filled with currents of Truth and Love that serve to lift thought to healing points of view.

Open to Love. Side with Truth. Catch your thermal for the day, and soar! Life is much easier that way.

  1. I felt the truth of the message while reading it and was significantly uplifted. I desire to keep on keeping it in thought. Thank you van

  2. This is just what we need to do when times get stressful. It reminds me of something I saw in Wales a few years back. I was in our caravan and heard a commotion outside. Looking out I saw a buzzard being mobbed by some crows. But the buzzard totally ignored them, just kept his wings spread and soared upwards on the thermal, and eventually the crows dropped away.
I’ve always thought of that as a lesson in what to do when mortal mind, so-called, persistently tries to take over one’s thoughts. The answer is to ‘soar and sing’, and feel the fearless flight that carries you away from troublesome thoughts to the safety of Soul.

    1. Wow, what a cool example you witnessed of today’s blog post. I love the visualization that came to me of that scene with the birds right after reading Evan’s post. Thank you for sharing that.

  3. “And as on wings of faith we soar and worship,
Held by God’s love above the shadows dim,
Hushed in the grandeur of a heart’s awakening,
Unfolds a joy unknown till found in Him.
    Hymn 149
    Thank you for this thermal

  4. There is a lesson about how geese fly together in formation and also help each other by the wind drafts and by honking to each other for encouragement. Their synergistic togetherness helps them fly farther and easier. They also take turns being the lead goose when one tires. I feel uplifted with SpiritView the same way these geese find strength and encouragement and I thank you Evan and thank you all, for your upward wing today, tonight and any time I need a lift! What a blessing to have this blog to all soar together!
