Catch the spirit of Christmas

December 22, 2017 | 11 comments

“It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.”

~ W.T. Ellis

Some people dread the Christmas season. They may live alone, have no family to celebrate with, or no place to go on Christmas day. They may detest the commercialism that characterizes much of the season’s celebration. They may get stressed out about spending money for gifts that they do not have. But whatever negative emotion mortal mind might conjure up to mar the holiday, it doesn’t have to be that way.

The real spirit of Christmas is very positive. It’s about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and the message of healing and salvation he brought to the world.

As we carry the message of Truth and Love Jesus delivered to the world in our heart, and live it out each day, the month of December can be a really fun, healthy and enjoyable time for us.

We don’t have to get caught up into the secular version of Christmas. We can stay focused on the spiritual reason for the season and proceed through the month with a happy heart and buoyant outlook.

Carry the meaning of Christmas in your heart, and demonstrate a good experience.

  1. Evan,
    Thank you. Merry Christmas to all. 🙂 In the spirit of Christ and Christmas;

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God”. I Cor 1:18

“…hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” I Cor 1:20 hath

“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” I Cor 1:25

“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things that are mighty;”. I Cor 1:27

“That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”. I Cor 1:29-30

“If worlds were formed by matter,
    And mankind from the dust;
Till time shall end more timely,
    There’s nothing here to trust.

    Thenceforth to evolution’s
    Geology, we say, –
    Nothing have we gained therefrom,
    And nothing have to pray:

My world has sprung from Spirit,
    In everlasting day;
    Whereof, I’ve more to glory,
    Wherefor, Have much to pay.”

    Mary Baker Eddy

    1. Thank you Kirsten
      Great post to augment
      Evans words… together
      a beautiful message…

      Jesus was the first Christ
      The promise made
      was we are to discover
      the Christ within ourselves…
Each and every one of us…

So Christmas has also become, for me,
A celebration of the ‘birth of Christ’
within all of my brothers and sisters

  2. Thanks for such a good message. I didn’t get it by email either and had to come to the site for it. I like Mrs. Eddy’s poetic and beautiful words on “The significance of Christmas” originally published in the New York World:

“Christmas respects the Christ too much to submerge
itself in merely temporary means and ends. It represents
the eternal informing Soul recognized only in harmony,
in the beauty and bounty of Life everlasting, — in the
truth that is Life, the Life that heals and saves mankind.”

Today we find this on page 259 in the collection of her writings called The First Church of Christ, Scientist and Miscellany.

    Happy Christmas to all.

  3. I sit in stillness
    and observe Thy
    Life living in and
    thru me…
    I marvel in wonderment
    and joy, as I see
    Thy hand move across
    the landscape of my
    thoughts and experience….
High or low … good times
    or bad…. I accept with
    peace profound…
    My only opinion
    is one of Love…

    1. … from GOD and His Christ
      from high above !

Thank you Maximo for your inspiring poem for Christmas!
As sometimes, I dared to continue it a little bit . 😉

      Have a nice Christmas

  4. I usually get ur blog on my phone early morning but today it was late afternoon. However I am very grateful to receive it whenever it comes and today’s was certainly worth waiting for. I wish you and Kathy and ur family a wonderful Christmas and also to my fellow Spirit Viewers a happy and peaceful time.

  5. The same I noticed this morning – no SpiritView in my emails.
But I found it the way Anna and Marilyn did, clicking at the side at today`s title.
I am happy to have got it now and thank you so very much dear Evan, for the true idea of Christmas.

I love and find it very suitable, the poem of Mary Baker Eddy (song no. 25):

“Blest Christmas morn, though murky clouds pusue thy way,
Thy light was born where storm enshrouds nor dawn nor day!
Dear Christ, forever here and near, no cradle song,
no natal hour and mother`s tear to you belong.
Thou gentle beam of living Love, and deathless Life!
Truth infinite, so far above all mortal strife,
Or cruel creed, or earthborn taint; fill us today
with all though art – be thou our saint, our stay, alway.

You know that song all, I suppose; and that reflects real Christmas, as MBE discerned it.
That is a healing and comforting idea of Christmas for me.

Am grateful that we could ponder this important event a bit more so near to Christmaseve thanks to Evan`s inspiring SpiritView.

    Merry Christmas to all!

    1. Uta,
Thank you for sharing Mary Baker Eddy’s hymn. I just looked up the definition of enshroud and it is “envelop completely and hide from view.”
