How close is God?

February 5, 2015 | 19 comments

Some people believe God is hard to find. Where is God? They wonder when times are tough.

This question starts to go away when one understands the truth about God.

God is not a person, a remote power, a distant force, a mysterious wandering spirit, an unknown, or a conditional presence. God is Life itself.

Without God, there would be no you.

God is what gives you existence, being, consciousness, hearing, vision, intelligence, wisdom, ability, mobility, ideas, and everything else that constitutes life.

But God is not matter. God is Spirit! And this is the crucial point to understand.

If we look solely to matter for God, we will be disappointed. For God is not there.

God is Spirit.

Feeling isolated from God and remote from divine care comes from looking to matter for something matter cannot deliver. Material sense is emptiness, a dark void, loneliness. And the cure is to seek God in Spirit.

Spirit is the vital breath of your life. Spirit is your Mind that is filled with inspiration, joy and freedom. Spirit is your health, abounding with energy and strength. Spirit is the power that sustains your being in the divine likeness. Spirit is everything of enduring substance and value.

You are as close to Spirit as a circle is to round. [revised this sentence from “line is to straight”, 2/7/15]

Honor your oneness with Spirit. Lean on Spirit. Get to know Spirit intimately. Be spiritually minded. Know no other power or presence.

Spirit is with you. Spirit is within you. Spirit governs you. You and Spirit are one. And this spiritual reality keeps you and God at-one forever. And that’s close!

  1. Exactly what I needed to know this morning, Evan, as is so often the case with this blog! I am so VERY grateful. With love….

  2. Hope you have a great idea of how much clarity you are helping so many to have! ( me included!) I watched your YouTube presentation of “Prayer That Heals” from Phoenix Arizona last night and it’s really changed my whole thinking this morning! Now this wonderful post! Thank you Evan! You’ve really helped a dear friend of mine… And now she’s helping me by sending me your “links”… Wonderful ripples of joy and Love! I thank you both so much! Much Joy to You!

  3. Yes. very clear. No matter what I have read I still have felt a separation from God, as if I have to go somewhere to be near God. old ideas. Thank you. I understand I do not exist without God. How much closer can that be?

  4. This statement I hear; “It’s an act of God,” should be read, heard only when good appears and is understood. Instead all the errors we hear on the news media are caused by God. How ignorant!!! Such ignorance is completely annielated when understanding that God is Love and only Love is realized. HOW CAN LOVE CAUSE CAHOUS? It can’t and we can’t experience it since all Life comes from this truly loving God.

  5. So grateful for all your beautifully clear explanations of Truth, especially this one. This week’s lesson in a clear, concise one-pager!! It definitely goes in my binder.

  6. OK, Evan, yesterday I said your column was a keeper. Today’s ought to be framed and put up on the wall. I felt so good after reading it. Thanks once more.

  7. …and there you have it. No room for comparisons, envy, rivalry, jealousy, hate and all the etcetera’s of human misery…just pure goodness from Spirit who created every one of us and from whom we can never be separate, no matter what. What a relief. How wonderful! Thank you for the clear explanation and reminder, Evan.

  8. We all speak about God and pray to God but often feel a little empty wondering what we are really doing. I appreciated your connecting with God comments. Making God real is so important. God is a feeling of knowing His loving arms are all around you and having the faith to lean on them

  9. Every now and then I find a Spiritview with no reference to the Bible or S & H or MBE. Just wonderful explanations of Love from God which reaches out to most everyone. Some people are pre-prejudiced against the two books mentioned above. Dear Evan, your clear, concise writing/interpretation of God’s/Spirit’s care for us often are the ones I print out and share with others. Many times prejudice turns to incredulity–then awe— when they find that this is the C.S. thought and prayer. You are so intuitive and reflect God’s Mind that tells you just what confused, searching humanity needs for that very moment. I am so full of gratitude for all you give to so many. God bless.

  10. What does “You are as close to Spirit as a line is straight” mean? I don’t get the “line is straight” part. Thanks

    1. Well Bob, you are right! In my mind, when I wrote the above, I was picturing a line as being straight, but as you mention, lines can be squiggly or curvy too. So, I need to revise my analogy! I should have wrote, “as close to God as a straight line is straight.” But that doesn’t sound to rhythmic, does it? I’ll do better next time. Thanks for catching my slip-up. Smiles…
