Don’t give up. Go up!

December 30, 2020 | 20 comments

Have you ever felt like you were stuck between a rock and a hard place? If so, there’s a way out!

I share some ideas in this video on how to look at trying circumstances differently and find a way out.

Don’t give up, go up!

I filmed this video while hiking through a slot canyon near Kanab, Utah, in October of 2020.

  1. ‘ Stand on the rock of Truth!’ I love that Evan, thank you…like wise
‘ As in heaven, so on earth’ demonstrated in today’s article from the Monitor. Some times the fewest words encompass all we need to know! Love to all today and everyday❣️

    1. Thanks Angie for this article. It was beautifully written and I really felt the author’s Joy and the transformation in thought that she experienced.

  2. Evan you insights today remind me of this bold statement: “The very circumstance, which your suffering sense deems wrathful and afflictive, Love can make an angel entertained unawares”. S&H 574:28-30.
Those circumstances take on different disguises such as Covid, poverty, divorce, conflict, and illness but in EVER circumstance the angels are ready to minister and turn the darkness into light.

  3. Thanks once again for enabling us to realize our spititual sense making hard to deal with circumstances a rock to build on. Great thought. Trees standing among impenatrable rocks, somehow finding norishment. Finding a sure footing. Steadly growing skyward, changing the rocks to soil & the landscape as well. Giving santuary to birds and an elevated platform for life.
Amazingly strait as they are using the rocks to shield them from the prevailing winds which makes unguarded trees bend away from them. Unhibited they reach for the light.
Using those rocks as a foundation to change things for the better. And all from a tiny seed.
I was born to this life with many rocks to climb. Still climbing up to get a better view of our dear
God. Time for a brand new year. Leaving the old for the new. I love joining all of you each morning. Now on to join the Sentinal artical provided by our very wonderful Angie. Thank you. Those articals are easily shared, printed and saved. Always a spiritual treat.

    1. Thank you, David, for your additional, inspirational and practical analysis to Evan’s wisdom today.
Love, Truth, and Justice ALWAYS WIN because it’s our NATURE to grow and progress, no matter the difficulties!

  4. Beautiful – thank you Evan, I love the analogy of the trees growing from the rocks – such a
    good lesson to be learned.

Just as the trees in the rocks found the nourishment they needed right where they were,
so can we find our spiritual nourishment wherever we are in our consciousness. We are
in our right place with all the spiritual truths we know and express now. But we don’t have to get stuck on that small bit of understanding that we have now, but we can dig deeper – that is, dig deeper into the spiritual truths we have at our disposal in Christian Science, (not in the seeming
hard rocks of material illusions) – then we go up higher in our understanding and demonstration of the wonderful gift of Life that our Father has given us, and Christ Jesus taught and demonstrated for us.

So we don’t ever give up – Mrs. Eddy said somewhere something like – never, never, never give up. Discouragement is the devil’s tool. The Bible tells us that “the weapons of our warfare are not
carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strong holds…….” and they free us and take us upward.

Thank you to all commenters, and JQ for your comments and citation also – very appropriate. Love’s angels are always speaking to us.

  5. To add to the inspiration from this site, this morning I have received from another source, a quote that helps solidify this feeling of thriving where we are planted.
It states, “When you plant a seed of love, it is you that blossoms” (~ Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati)
With our roots planted in Love, we can have the foundation of all good in which to grow and share no matter where we are or what seems to be going on around us.

  6. Great example Evan. I know Utah – used to have associates in Salt Lake City. Great scenery. Your vlogs are great – thanks.

  7. A tree growing strong and proud out of solid rock is illogical to material sense, but, Life (life in Spirit) cannot be impeded or held back. I always enjoyed climbing on rocks, I like what David said about climbing up to see better views of God. Don’t look down, nothing of value there, ever upward.

Thank you everyone for lifting me up with your remarks and love today. Had a difficult day yesterday, so nice come onto Spiritview today and be in the presence of Truth, Joy and Kindness. Love to all!

  8. This “mustard seed” of truth (Don’t give up, Go up!) is Huge in it’s spiritual lessons as we all take this council into our daily lives for inspiration and support. Looking back over this year Evan, you have provided such a sure and solid foundation to steady our steps Spiritward, and you have been a masterful guide on our ascending paths. Thank you so much for each and every gem of wisdom, every spiritual prompting,– for your amazing videos, and beautifully articulated messages,— the fruits of which cannot be measured!! May you and and my precious Spiritview family be greatly blessed in the coming year!

  9. “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side;
my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for
    God is always right.”

    ABRAHAM LINCOLN
Cathryn’s post brought this to thought.
And we know God’s side is a majority, of and for
    good.

  10. Thanks, Evan, for just the thought I needed today! And thanks, Angie, for the Sentinel article. This quote from S&H is especially helpful to me:
“Tumors, ulcers, tubercles, inflammation, pain, deformed joints, are waking dream-shadows, dark images of mortal thought, which flee before the light of Truth” (Science and Health, p. 418). This brings Hymn 412 to mind, “O dreamer, leave thy dreams for joyful waking.”

  11. Thank you, Evan. Am deeply grateful for today’s and everyday’s SpiritView .
It gives me lots of inspiration and is so helpful! You look so nice like having lovely holidays, having had much sun!
There are some hymns with Rocks in our hymnal book. One I just remember, which I love is Nr. 253 “Christ my Refuge”, specially this vers: “Truth engrounds me on the Rock, upon life’s shore, gainst which the winds and waves can shock, oh nevermore … It is a poem by Mary Baker Eddy. And then there is another hymn, no 293 and I love the 3rd verse :
    “Christ the Truth, foundation sure,
    on this Rock we are secure;
Peace is there, our Life to fill,
Cure is there for every ill,
    Rock of Ages, Truth divine,
    be they strength forever mine.”

Thank you Angie for all your links to the suitable Sentinel articles, and thank you all for your interesting and inspired comments!♡♡♡

  12. Dear Evan, Thank you so much for this uplifting thought. My husband and I spend a lot of time in Maine, when we are out walking I too am so amazed to see trees growing out of rocks, it speaks to how powerful Truth is. and how every-present Truth is. Thank you, I love your wonderful thoughts every day!

  13. Thanks, Evan. Very helpful. And Kanab is such a beautiful area! I hope you visited the Best Friends Animal Society while you were there. Such an awesome place!
