If there is no struggle, there is no progress.
~ Frederick Douglass
To break free from a status quo thought needs to go to new places. And it may take a struggle to get there because the human mind often resists going into unfamiliar territory. Don’t fear the struggle. Embrace it and seek its blessings.
Beautiful statement… it helps to understand the place of struggle in a life. Thanks for sharing this Evan.
The human mind needs to move higher and that sometimes causes a bit of stirring up, doesn’t it? Sometimes the human mind needs to shift to a higher view, and sometimes that requires giving up some long cherished perimeters! The human mind: ” But I like it here! Right where I am! “We KNOW we can’t stay in one place (mentally) too long! Have to keep “rising higher and higher” from our boundless basis! Wonderful quote, Evan. Thought provoking!
Perfect for right now! Thank you for listening and sharing.
Thank you for this wonderful quote . . . it gives me strength and encouragement. I’ve been seeking progress and simultaneously been struggling. Today it is my resolve to “embrace it and seek its blessings.” I wlll also try and do so with joy in my heart, to make the journey lighter!!
I know this idea of mine is radical. So radical that many C/S have been shocked by the idea which came to me through C/S prayer long before the discussions of the rights of Gay and Lesbian were even spoken of and Ellen Degenerous first came out of the closet and announced that she was Gay. I feel that this thought that came to me is the very prayer that is helping the people of the USA in recognizing the worthiness of the Gay community and their contributions to society which is showing the falseness of the Bible’s saying; “BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY.”
That saying means be fruitful in ideas of ways to bless all mankind in inventions and discoveries not to have more children which benefits no one, especially the family whose monetary income can’t support the children and leaves them to the discretion of institutions and foster parenting whose only motive is how much money they can make out of it.
Now the thought; The Lords Prayer and it’s spiritual interpretation as MBE described it in S&H.
“Our Father Mother God, all harmonious.”
One God having both male & female qualities. God therefore in his spiritual significance has to be Gay. No other conclusion can be reached. A Gay human is only a symbol of God’s gayness.
Your comments make me uncomfortable, for I would never think of God as “gay,” for that is still speaking at a sexual level. God is not sexual, but spiritual. And the true identity of the “male and female” of God’s creating is spiritual too. As Jesus said, we do not marry in heaven for we are all as angels. So, there is much to learn about the true identity of our being, and God too.
Also, I’ve always thought of “be fruitful and multiply,” as being fruitful in good works and expressing, or multiplying, more and more of God’s goodness in everyday activity over the whole earth. Children do have a wonderful role to play, but you are correct. They should be welcomed into loving homes.
Dear Evan; you do agree with me as far as the “Be fruitful & multiply” quote and children should have a good and loving home without an institutional beaurocracy.
The idea of Gayness has nothing to do with the definition based on material sexual orientation. What I am saying or trying to say, which is not an easy thing to explain using a material language is that each person has within both male and female qualities which he gets strictly from God. What is happening in society is the change which isn’t quite acceptable, a male acting as a female or a female acting as a male posing a so-called threat to society which produces violence which is unacceptable in the 10 Commandments.
This is the way I prayed for the Gay community and look what is happening. It’s just like the old western movies, any thing different that comes into town, the populence want to extract. HUMANS HAVE TROUBLE ACCEPTING A NEW WAY OF THINKING, much like in Mrs Eddy’s day. They couldn’t accept C/S. There is nothing to be uncomfortable about. Incidentally I AM NOT GAY. I am just for those minorities who get bashed unnessarily.
I hope I made this comment a little clearer.
Thank you, Evan, for sharing just what I needed to hear today.
Regarding the comment about “gayness” you are so right on – sexuality is part of the mortal dream – never mentioned in Gen.1 because everything was (is) made complete and whole. It should turn our attention to the wonder of infinite good – to explore and express. Love, Spirit, will uphold our honest spiritual individuality. And that individuality should be honored and respected by each of us to every other spiritual individuality. That should be expressed in “patience, meekness, love and good deeds.” (MBE)
Concord has 37 references on the subject of “struggle.”
Gonna study some of them!
Mrs. Eddy struggled for the Light and we are so hugely benefitted by this.
And of course Christ Jesus’ ordeal on the cross has huge lessons for us.
“God supports the struggling heart…” Mrs. Eddy tells us.
Well worth it, I’m convinced.

We need to turn over our problems, questions , and concerns to God. Then we can relax in God’s care. Be still, listen, be enlightened. Truth will be revealed.
I remember learning early on that I never suffered from the Truth. Sometimes I regretted opening my thought for all the trouble it seemed to cause in a life I was not happy in to begin with, thus the quest for something satisfying and reliable! I used to say why am I hanging on to this burning pot handle ( the lies about the Truth)? Mortal mind always needs to confirm itself and the Truth is a real threat to its seeming existence. But as MBE would say mortal mind would ‘melt into its native nothingness.’ so I guess, relax and let the Truth do the melting.
