Eliminate doubt

June 2, 2023 | 34 comments

If you’re ever burdened with doubt that something good could happen to you, it’s an opportunity to move faith from evil to good.

Doubt that something good can happen is faith that evil is happening. It’s having more faith in evil than in good.

You can conquer doubt by putting more faith in God, and less faith in evil.

“With God, all things are possible,” Jesus Christ taught (Mark 10:27). With God, good is possible. Only good is possible. This is reality.

Doubt cripples progress. Understanding God leads to success.

Keep moving down the path of success by putting all faith in God, good, and having no faith in evil. Doubt will disappear, and well-founded confidence in good happening will take its place.

  1. How important it is for us to keep God at the helm of our thought, and
look to God at all times for the right answer to any problems or dilemmas
that we face, and put all our faith in Him to show us what we need to know and do.
and not to respond to human suggestions or opinions.

The first thought that came to me when I read Evan’s message was from 1 Kings, 18:21 –

“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word”.

    .

  2. I didn’t mean to leave the last sentence in, because it goes on in that particular event
and is not necessary for our purpose. They did in fact answer him of course, and said they
    would follow God.

  3. The next thought that has come to me is from Misceallaneous Writings by MBE: ” “God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment.

    1. Thanks Maggie, that’s one of my favorite and most comforting statements from Mrs. Eddy. It always brings me back into the present moment and the awareness that right now (really the eternal now) I am fully cared for by God and have everything I need.

    2. Thanks Maggie, thanks Evan,
We have to be sure that God’s Spirit is with us in any moment of our particular activities, even small things like walking or driving or meet the first person in the street , each morning , neigbour or not neigbour. In other word be sure that God is always in our wallet or suitcase!
      Blessings to u all!

    3. Thank you Maggie, My whole life has been living proof of receiving God’s given spiritual ideas; with and including daily supplies. . . . . amen!

      1. Me, Too, Dear chilesands! I just came here this morning and saw your
beautiful comment. Even though sometimes the storm of mortal mind
tempts us to believe in a power other than God, the rainbow of
Truth shines through! Amen is Right!!! : )

        1. A small thing I was having an issue with, sorting
through thoughts last night, trying to understand,
wanting to do what is right, but not knowing
exactly what that is, under the circumstances,
(humanly speaking) and not wanting to upsetr.
I appreciate so very much TMC online events
and am so thankful for all who are participating
in making them so wonderfully lovely and inspirational.

  4. Thank you Evan. Thank you Maggie. Evan says we should stop doubting else we are losing the point. God is good . The following statement in Science and Health proves the certainty of God’s goodness, “Outside the material sense of things, all is harmony. 489:28-29.

    1. Grace I love that statement you quoted, “Outside the material sense of things, All is harmony.” To me this means that if I view anything from a merely material perspective I would miss out on seeing the reality of Life, of all harmonious God, good.

Regarding doubt: In Christian Science we’re taught to pray with spiritual understanding and then to have the expectancy of good. We can know our prayers do not return void (see Isaiah 55:11-12), they do not just disappear into the ethers, they have an effect, a good effect and we have the divine right to have that expectancy of good.

Love Evan’s powerful statement, “Only good is possible. This is reality.”

      1. Thank you Rose specially for your second paragraph! And I too love Isaiah 55: 11-12 where it says that our prayers do not return void. This assurance of God through his prophet Isaiah is wonderfully comforting!

Thank you Evan for the treatment of this topic having no doubt, but rather deep faith in our omnipotent loving God!♡

  5. Yes. God does not doubt! As God, good, the one Mind, created us, confidence [con, with, + fidus, faith] in good must be our natural state of thought, our authentic thought, about ourselves, our neighbors and our world. Our authentic thoughts doubt doubt!

  6. Such wonderful inspiration this morning and a feeling of infinity
of Goodness. (Another great opportunity to share a few quotes
    I have collected):

    1. When in doubt, Don’t!

    2. There is no higher Truth, no greater knowledge than
    never doubting who you are.

    3. Your faith can move mountains
and your doubt can create them.

    4. When you’re drowning in fear, doubt or discouragement,
    Don’t forget
    Your lifeguard walks on water.

Yes, I love Evan’s statement, too, Rose, “Only good is possible.
This is reality”. What a great thought to hold on to!

    1. Thanks Carol for the powerful thought: “there is no higher Truth, no greater knowledge than never doubting who you are”, that must come straight ftom God’s chamber!
Blessings to you , Evan and all of you !

    2. Thanks Carol for the powerful thought: “there is no higher Truth, no greater knowledge than never doubting who you are”, that must come straight ftom God’s chamber!
Blessings to you , Evan and all of you !

  7. God did not create fear, anxiety or doubt, and since they are not qualities of God, we have mastery over these mental impositions! We have God given authority to make wise and confident decisions. God is Wisdom. God is Love. That’s an unbeatable duo!!

Thank you Evan and all for the daily confidence you inspire!

  8. Thank you all for your inspiration this morning.
I was led to search Prose Works, for inspiration to bring to an upcoming Executive Board meeting. I was rewarded with “Pulpit and Press” as I discovered Pages 24, 28, 29, and 30’s description of the completion of the first Christian Science church erected in Boston,….called “Our prayer in stone.”. My meeting here where I will re-read aloud the description found on pages 24, 28 and 29 lifted me right up to that moment, brought me hope here for our meeting, to demonstrate the re-building of church, healing upon healing.

I look forward to our Annual Meeting in Boston, to be broadcast on-line, for those of us who will not be present in person, but will be attending.

  9. Dear Carol thanks so much for your comment, especially for:
    4. When you’re drowning in fear, doubt or discouragement,
    Don’t forget
    Your lifeguard walks on water.

    1. Thank you so much for this keeper. Carol. Will go on two note cards – one for the fridge door, the other for my purse. Blessings to all.

      1. I’m so glad you found these quotes helpful, Brigitte. I was typing
when your comment came in, so I guess they crossed in
        cyberspace.

    2. Thank you, Lori, The beautifully refreshing photo above
reminds me of #4 . LOL It looks like They are walking on
water! …. such a lovely way to calm the soul in the golden
sunlight of God’s nature-ly beauty. And chilesands, I am
so grateful for the on-line broadcasts, also.

  10. Another precious reminder from Hebrews 3:14:
“For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;”
It helps me to think of the “beginning of our confidence” as Genesis 1.

  11. One of my favorite sentences from Science and Health is divine love always has met and always will meet every human need since to all mankind and in every hour divine love supplies all good.

    1. Thank you, Jane b. I have loved many quotes throughout
the years and find them inspirational and have written
a lot of them down. I just flipped through some and
each one of these came up:
“When you help someone up a hill, you get nearer the
      top yourself” and
“Don’t waste life in doubts and fears”
      ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
      Love those!!
Thank you, too, J , for the llink below.

  12. Much love to you, dear “J” for the articles you surch for us to enlighten our thinking with the divine truths healing and inspiring us! The christian scientific ideas in this article by Beth Campbell are very inspiring and helpful, thank you very much “J”!♡

  13. Have a great weekend everyone! Feeling the Unity of thought
of all things Good in all ways. God’s Love is with us wherever
we are, whatever we do, caring for our every need.
