Do you Evolve from chaos or Order?

November 7, 2014 | 11 comments

I was thinking about Darwin’s theory of evolution and the Big Bang theory, and how many physical scientists argue that the universe exploded out of chaos and disorder to evolve into what we see today. Fine enough, for a physical theory, I suppose. But then it occurred to me, “When does the chaos and disorder stop? Is my life based on chaos or order? Am I the outcome of chaos?”

If I accepted the premise that I was evolving chaos, that could lead to some very pessimistic and depressing outlooks for life. It implies random unpredictable occurrences of disease, fragile health, uncertain wellness, and a whole lot of chance that could lead to some very bad outcomes.

Yet, I do not accept this for my life. I know from experience, that how you live affects what you experience. Life is not all by chance or random events. There is a divine Principle at work in this universe one can rely upon to keep the course of events in a predictable good pattern.

So, the theory of evolution may pertain to an evolving mortal belief about man, but it does not apply to God’s man, the spiritual creation of divine Mind. And I made a conscious choice to identify with God’s creation, rather than mortal mind’s theory about evolution.

There will be many different views on this topic, but it seems to me that if you believe your ancestor is chance and chaos, you buy into the whole package of belief that your life could be chance and chaos. And that is not a good mental place to be if you want to demonstrate reliable health.

The wiser route is to identify with divine Principle, a fixed constant for life and health that undergirded your being before there was any Big Bang, and long after the theory of evolution has played out its course.

Life is not the outcome of chance and chaos. Its God expressed. And God is a fixed Principle.

  1. Whether or not to believe in God can be viewed as a personal choice. Turning to the different subject of the physical sciences:

I was curious about the subject of the origin of the universe and as a component therein, the Earth. Using my advanced knowledge of science, engineering, and technology, I researched the subject.

A brief summary: Many hundreds of scientists and others have been researching this subject for centuries. Currently billions are being spent from our public funds at CERN, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and other research facilities. No one on earth “knows” the exact origin. The Big Bang theory, the chaos theory, the random theory, are only theories. Higgs Boson, referred by the popular news as the “god particle” has nothing whatsoever to do with God. It was indeed an important discovery of a new particle. Of all the research I reviewed, no evidence was found to “prove” that there could not be a God or divine creator.

Therefore, anyone is clearly fully entitled to believe in God, the divine creator.

  2. This is spot on.
An excellent article highlighting this is Cosmos not Chaos, by Isabel Bates in the July 1977 CSJ.
It’s important to know daily and act from the spiritual truth that your life is not subject to chance. This means not entering any contests or buying lottery tickets that you might be “lucky” enough to win.

  3. Thank you so much for this post! It was exactly what I needed to hear. I am cherishing the idea that life, my life, is not chance or chaos!

  4. Thank you Evan.

I like contemplating the fact that because order does exist, as seen in any order we experience, it must be solid fact, just as reliable and permanent as mathematical facts. So, the illusion of disorder is just that….illusion. We, as God’s expression, His thoughts, Her activity, don’t see or know an illusion as possibly “real,” for we can only know what God knows; we cannot know illusions. We don’t get a choice. Man has not got “free will,” as a certain preacher was expounding on tv. Man has only God’s Will. This fact dispels the illusion of chaos.

    Good thing!

  5. Thank you very much for this post and thank you too James for mentioning here that you did a research and I like the part you mentioned that, of all the researches you reviewed, no evidence was found to prove that there could not be a God or divine Creator. While it is an individual choice to believe in the existence of a God or divine Creator,
the deciding factor would be to consider which gives us the best results of peace or harmony, true health and wealth, and goodness in all its avenues. Which theory if believed in promotes the best results not only for an individual, but also for family, affecting national and international welfare. I believe everybody love the benefits of good.

  6. Very timely – as always!! I appreciate today’s Spiritview very much! Order, not chaos-
I’ve been reading a new book from Eric Metaxas Miracles – last night I finished a thorough chapter on creation which was very enlightening and informative – too much to explain here.
However all of his research definitely points to an intelligent design thereby pointing clearly to a Divine Creator.

And to Josef – not a chance!!! LOL

  7. And also checking in on this topic… An English physicist, Sir James Jeans, who said, “The universe begins to look more like a great thought than a great machine.” Mary Baker Eddy determined the surety of this Truth much earlier and from another, more comprehensible, direction; a direction even more convincing and practical.

  8. Big Bang Theory is possibly acceptable but I have to wonder:
    Who lit the fuse?
    Who made the fuse?
Who made the dust that exploded?
Who made the wind that blew the dust around an guided it to form planets etc…?
What about the rest of creation?
    ‘Creation is ever appearing’. MBE

  9. just Amazing! I was having this same conversation the day before. I came to the same conclusion! Once and as always…. Thank you!

  10. This shows the falicy of human, mortal belief. All creation comes from chos not order and all mortal for it making them mortal instead of immortal. Thus humans are revered as the most intelligent. How ridiculous, asinine, cruelty can you get? That’s all for the so-called Big Bang theory.
