A person praying for a healing bemoaned whether she was making progress or not. I told her to expect progress. Demand it. Have absolute faith in it.
We head down the trails thought outlines before us. For progress, it’s wise to be sure the path we expect to go down is a good one!
It takes honesty to know where we see ourselves headed. The human mind can say the right words but believe something totally opposite. It’s what we believe that matters, not what we say.
Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “To ascertain our progress, we must learn where our affections are placed and whom we acknowledge and obey as God” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 239).
For progress, honor God alone as the sole power and influence over your thinking, health, and body. Yank all sense of power away from disease, fear, medical belief, and opinion. Let God’s omnipotence and omnipresence alone lie before your thought to the exclusion of all else.
Expect to demonstrate spiritual truth. You can! Truth backs you up 100%.
Expect to progress and have no doubt about it.
Because actions speak louder than words I try to live a life that approaches Mrs. Eddy’s admonition on page one of her chapter on Prayer to have “an absolute faith that all things are possible to God-“ and then she concludes with the necessary ingredient to have “an unselfed love”…
This unselfed love opens the door to real progress..

The perfection of God and man never changes, The perfection of God is already established, and man in HIs image is the consequence. Progress is inevitable for Truth never changes, and divine Love draws us to Itself. With progress there is no going back, only forward to the Truth of being..
” Human perception, advancing toward the apprehension of its nothingness, halts, retreats, and again goes forward; but the divine Principle and Spirit and spiritual man are unchangeable, — neither advancing, retreating, nor halting. (Unity of Good, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 61:12)
Obedience to God is alignment with Principle, and progress is guaranteed.

Thanks Evan. The first thought which came to me was “progess is a law of God…”. God’s law is in control of all His lovely creation and governs them. So progress for God’s precious child is inevitable!

Or is it what GOD KNOWS that matters?
Is God discouraged?
“The basis of all health, sinlessness, and immortality is the great fact that God is the only Mind; and this Mind must be not merely believed, but it must be understood.”

Understood as the ONLY Mind. Understood as our one Mind knowing ONLY our perfection and the infinite all-power and all-presence of that knowing, where sickness is never, has never, and will never be known.

I can quote quite of bit from the Bible and Mrs. Eddy’s writings but I now see the need to pause and see if I actually believe and understand what I’m saying to myself and others. I need to FEEL the Spirit and power that is represented by the words I’m speaking.

When I catch a glimpse of the news (usually on the late night comedy shows, because I no longer watch any of my favorite news shows), or when I feel any lie of error, I am currently refuting the error with a little alphabet game, which is not a game. I affirm that error has no voice, no viewers, no vitriol, no vitality, no vapid fury, no validity, no value, no victory. Truth is always the victor. Then I see if thought expands on the truth that we live in Mind, and that Mind is the only government, always providing peace, joy, and abundance to everybody, everywhere; “…to all mankind, and in every hour, divine Love supplies ALL good.” (S&H 494:13)

It is a strong inspiration to counteract all evil suggestions with the spiritual powerful Truths of MIND GOD in action, ever present — Governing us and the Universe — doing all the doing, all the knowing with vitality and Victory!!!
And that shuts down error’s awful suggestions from consciousness, and OPENS us WIDE to the fact that GOD. GOOD Governs, and we can believe this reality–and expect to see it, claim it, and experience it.

I read and appreciate these ideas everyday but don’t comment but this one just struck such a chord with my thought today I had to. I want to thank you Evan for the idea that the reason we can expect progress and healing is because that expectation is backed up 100% by Truth! What a powerful thought!

As in giving a CS treatment I listen to the news until I get a clear sense of what to pray about then turn off the tv chatter and get to work. I’m learning it’s not effective prayer to just say it’s not true. But quiet listening and acceptance of Truth is the healing agent every time.
Our peace of Mind is the World’s peace!

There is no interruption of the continuity of all the goodness bestowed by God. Likewise we cannot be interrupted by error ,with its various claims.
A comforting verse from the bible as we all travel our path towards the eternal Truth of being…

I myself, have been praying for healing many weeks now. I pray knowing God is all, then after weeks of not seeing progress, I consult Dr. Google on my computer, and of course it tells me all kinds of reasons why this is going to take weeks and months to heal. If I’d had absolute faith in God without wavering, I’m sure I’d be healed by now. Thanks Evan, this is just what I needed today.
Evan’s instructions to “Yank all sense of power away from disease, fear, medical belief, and opinion” spoke powerfully to me. One of the many benefits of studying Christian Science is the sense of dominion derived from understanding the unreality of all negativity. We learn to claim our mental clarity to differentiate error from Truth, and assert our divine authority to denounce whatever (sometimes subtle) suggestions that come to us that oppose the perfection of God’s creation. We learn to prove this in our daily lives.
We are truly blessed! So thankful for all the faithful followers so dedicated to this site.

When my mother passed on, I received a note from a friend saying she hadn’t died but progressed. This healed any sense of grief I had instantly. This Truth has given me support throughout the years as friends and family have left this earthly experience and advanced into the eternal progress that has always been theirs. Leaving me with the peace that is our ever-presence.
