Filter out the SPAM

July 8, 2013 | 3 comments

My computer gets hit by SPAM email every day. I’m guessing yours does too!
You know SPAM: the garbage emails advertising products you don’t want, unsolicited offers from Nigeria and far away countries from con artists promising millions of dollars if you send them your personal contact information, or evil malware disguised as innocent links intended to trick you into clicking into a website that clamps onto your computer and confiscates your financial data…
If you’re like most computer users, you have anti-virus software running 24/7 to protect your PC from hackers. It’s a wise move!
SPAM comes in others forms, too, though, that we need to guard against. Unwanted email is one type. Fears, worries, doubts, beliefs in disease, temptation, and evil are other types.
Are you filtering out the mental SPAM that would swamp your thinking with unwanted burden and angst?
You can, and should.
We should guard our thinking against the SPAM of the carnal mind more assiduously than guarding our computer. The consequence of letting evil invade consciousness and take over the body is far more harmful to health and wellness in the long run than a program gone haywire on a hard drive.
Mary Baker Eddy wrote,

“Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously.” Science and Health, p. 392.

Keep your spiritual anti-virus filter on full alert today! Keep the SPAM of evil out of consciousness and stay well.  It’s a wise course of action.

  1. Excellent! Have been thinking too that when we trash something we are done with it…we don’t fuss about it before pushing the trash option, we just do it. And then we don’t go back, ruminate, handle it, think about it, give it any power–we are.DONE! So many ungodlike thoughts that come to us in the day can be dealt with that firmly and finally.” No dancing with the devil” as a good friend used to say. Was also thinking as I read this, how important it is to pray for the “hackers”, to claim their innocency from evil and pray they will see the light. Love this, Evan, thank you.

  2. Thanks Evan! Good advice and a great alert. We need to fine tune the SPAM filter to make sure we are not blocking out inspiring thoughts and settling for the routine that we have established. We need to invest in the finest Thought Filter we can get, an alert and receptive thought that can see through the SPAM to the real HAM!!! Great article!!!
