Jesus Christ was supremely confident in God’s love for him. He said, “For this reason, the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again” (John 10:17, RSV).
To feel more of God’s love in our life, we can learn from Jesus’ example. As we “lay down our life” we can “take it up again,” as he did. Meaning, that as we put off the material man with its mortal mindedness and seek the spiritual man in spiritual mindedness, we rise above mortality and its shortcomings and find Life in Spirit, where God’s love is everywhere to find.
It’s a daily adventure, putting off the material for the spiritual. But it works and brings grand results.
We can readily give up anger for compassion.
We can readily forgive and let go of grievances.
We can readily choose to be unselfish rather than to be selfish.
We can choose gratitude over complaint.
We can see the good in others, rather than focus on shortcomings.
We can love, rather than hate.
We can walk away from mortal attitudes that make one feel separated from God, and practice spiritual mindedness which brings us close to God.
As we put off the mortal for the immortal, we find God’s love and enjoy its embrace.
Thank you Evan. Way to go.
Excellent ideas to put into practice daily to feel God’s presence & power! Gratitude abounds, thank you, Evan!
I’m so grateful for your messages, Evan.
I’m so grateful for your messages, Evan.
great message, thank you. And we can bless all those who come ti mind in their spiritual identify…..
What a wonderful way to practice. Thank you,,Evan. It makes it so much easier to see the very simple thing to choose. Perhaps the mind of God is really that simple-mortal mind complicates so that we can be entangled. No tangles!
Can’t even put into words how grateful I am for your “SpiritView” Evan. You are a current person living the way Jesus taught, and this teaches all of us. THANK YOU.
Well said Cheryl! Evan, I am so grateful for your inspiration and love. It is deeply encouraging to know that we can see our work as a “daily adventure.” Blessings to all.
Spiritual sense wins today! Spiritual reality beckons.Thank you for the clear direction.
Excellent Evan….’mortal attitudes’ , the error of our thinking . But it’s so important to see through these mortal attitudes ( error looking for acceptance) in others. God must be our only influence…our first port of call, our trusted guide. Then we find Gods unfailing permanent Love.❣️
Just what I needed today, I am very grateful for this timely message for me. I was few minutes ago asking myself questions as to how to feel God’s love for me even though God is love itself. The message this morning is just right answer. My heart if love-filled. Thank you Evan❤️
My heart IS love-filled
Met my needs this morning, Thankyou Evan, what a Blessing Spirit View is, I thank the Dear Lord for it. much Love to all
Evan, thank you for breaking down what seems like an abstract idea into understandable, doable chunks. Thought by thought, step by step. Grateful!
Thank you Evan and all. Recently I was praying for healing and didn’t seem to be making progress. I wondered, “How can I know if my prayers are working?” Then this citation from S&H came to mind:
To ascertain our progress, we must learn where our affections are placed and whom we acknowledge and obey as God. If divine Love is becoming nearer, dearer, and more real to us, matter is then submitting to Spirit.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 239:16–20)
I then began to consider whether my prayers were causing me to become more conscious of God as Love, and become more conscious of how God’s love is being manifested in my experience, instead of looking for improvement in the condition I was trying to heal. That has been very helpful. For example, I realized I was holding resentment in thought for things that I felt happened in the past and I’ve been able to realize the mortal past is just a dream and I’ve never really been separated from God’s love. That change in viewpoint has enabled me to see ways God was caring for me in the past where I previously hadn’t.
Yesterday I was walking home from a trip to the grocery store and thought “If I don’t wake up in the morning and think about how much God loves me right away, I still have work to do!” I then thought about how often in S&H Mrs. Eddy contrasts “material sense” with “spiritual sense.” I used to think of those terms as meaning “how we perceive everything.” But now I think of those terms as more “my viewpoint of reality.” For example, do I think from a viewpoint of being material and living in a material world with all the limitations and uncertainty that accompany that paradigm. Or do I think of myself as spiritual and living in Mind and realize how much God loves each idea God knows…including me and everyone else? Those two viewpoints couldn’t be more different, could they?
Today I searched JSHOnline for the citation I shared above and came across this interview of Barbara Vining. I had read/listened to this before but it was instructive to read it again today…especially in light of what I was thinking about on my walk home yesterday.
To Progress, Let God Lead

Thank you Evan.
Robert H, Lately I have been thinking along the same lines that you described and asking myself similar questions. This line of thinking is helping me think better all the way around. Thank you for articulating it so well.
Evan, thank you for this Beautiful Spiritual thinking. I am so grateful for you
