Conquer error

May 28, 2026 | 14 comments

If a neighbor told you a bold-faced lie, and you knew it, you would likely tell them they are in the wrong and offer a correction.  You would correct their affirmation of error with a statement of truth.  The same rule applies to keeping ourselves happy and healthy.

When error comes parading into our consciousness as truth, we must see that error, expose it and deny it reality.  We must not let it hang around like a best friend and let it cause havoc on our well-being.  It needs to be conquered and eliminated!

Mary Baker Eddy writes, “You conquer error by denying its verity” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 339).

Error is only as real to our sense of things, as we make it.  Be sure to deny it reality!

Wrong thinking, disease, reasons to fear, etc., all fall under the classification of error.  They are to be denied reality and replaced with truth, harmony, and inspiration coming from divine Mind.

To stay healthy, stick with truth and reap the benefits of knowing spiritual truth.  Conquer error.  Knock it out.  The quicker the better!

Deny error reality.

  1. BELOVED Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them. It is plain that nothing can be added to the mind already full. There is no door through which evil can enter, and no space for evil to fill in a mind filled with goodness.…
I love this reminder by Mrs. Eddy. Have a wonderful time keeping thoughts filled with God’s love & care today!

  2. “You must feel and know that God alone governs man; that His government is harmonious; that He is too pure to behold iniquity, and divides His power with nothing evil or material; that material laws are only human beliefs, which govern mortals wrongfully.”
    Rudimental Divine Science p. 10: 5-9

    1. Hi Shelley, the quote from Sue that begins, “Beloved Christian Scientists…” is found in Miscellany p. 210. Continuing where Sue ended, the rest of that paragraph is also very comforting. “Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely
shielded from the attacks of error of every sort. And not only yourselves are safe, but all whom your thoughts rest upon are thereby benefited.”

Ellen gave her source in her comment, Rudimental Divine Science. p. 10: 5-9

Thanks everyone and wonderful day to all, as we continue to conquer not actually error but the belief of error.

  3. WHAT OUR LEADER SAYS
    By MARY BAKER EDDY
From the March 1899 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This article was later republished in The First Church of Christ, Scientist and Miscellany: My. 210:1-17

Beloved Christian Scientists:—Keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them. It is plain that nothing can be added to the mind already full. There is no door through which evil can enter, and no space for evil to fill in a mind filled with goodness. Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort. And not only yourself are safe, but all whom your thoughts rest upon are thereby benefited.

It is the evil-thinker who injures himself with what he would have harm others. Goodness involuntarily resists evil. The evil-thinker takes his own dose and dies of his own physic. The right thinker is safe, and abides under the shadow of the Almighty. His thoughts can only reflect peace, good will, health, and holiness.

  4. I just had an interesting thought, it relates more to yesterday’s SV on Release All Worries. The thought was that we can’t actually HAVE any worries. The only thing we can worry about is that false belief that we’re somehow separated from God (I think that underlies all worrisome thoughts). But when we learn why it’s impossible to be separated from God, then there’s nothing left we can worry about. I sure needed to hear this, and I hope we can all see and understand this truth more clearly.

    1. I’m sure you are right, Rose – and it sounds very simple. It
is when we forget to keep our minds filled with Truth and Love
that the sneaky serpent tries to divert us to believe that there is
something to worry about. The ;what ifs’, and the ‘what am I
going to do if this or that happens’ etc. If we are managing to
stand porter at the door of thought continually, then when the suggestion of the serpent comes knocking at the door of thought, we can recognise it and immediately cast it out with the spiritual counter-fact, and keep moving forward safely in the light.
We need to keep practising standing at that door of thought –
I certainly need more practice in this.
