God helps us when we help others

Do you ever feel like you’re not able to help another because you’re not feeling well yourself?

Here’s an article I wrote for my local newspaper, the Tri-City Herald, that tells what happened to me when I felt the same.
“God helps us when we help others in need.”

  1. Thank you Evan. The message here is so clear: God is the revealer, therefore the healer. Restoring us to our Original divine Mind. ❤️

  2. Thank you both. Given that man is harmonious and eternal, there is no moment one cannot help another. Health is the only reality, therefore it is just right to help others.

  3. thank you for this wonderful example of selfless caring. whatever blesses one blesses all.
    much gratitude Anne

  4. Evan I always enjoy reading the articles you write for your local newspaper. It adds to my appreciation of your message when I think about the many people who don’t know anything about Christian Science receiving a wonderful seed of expansive spiritual Truth planted in their thought, which may flower and bring them great blessings. Talk about community service!

As for the healing you described, it just makes sense that when we lift our thought high to pray for others that we would also experience healing. Because it all takes place in thought, it cannot bypass us but takes us along, and can encompass all. Joyous day to everyone!

  5. Thank you for sharing this spiritual lesson of unselfed love for your neighbor at a time when a false sense would love to dwell on self. We can all practice getting out of a constant sense of me. This is about God! Good!

    1. Trista I can relate to what you said about that “constant sense of me.” It can be insidious and we need to notice it trying to creep in and take over consciousness. That sense of “me” make us feel separate from God. It’s best to quickly dispose of that sense and turn back to Truth, to God.

  6. What blesses one, blesses all. My CS Sunday school teacher said that to me when we were talking about a real estate transaction I was helping her with. She was very stressed and was talking with me about it and as we talked, she said that line. I have used it in many of my transactions since then and it has helped even the most intense situations. That’s because it is a truth! What blesses one really does bless all!

  7. Love your article, Evan and coinciding thoughts of loving comments.
Thank you all! It is so true, What blesses one Does bless all. This
statement reminded me of a dear friend I knew, who has since passed
to a higher realm of thought. She used to say those confirming,
comforting words all of the time and it was always so helpful to me.
Sometimes we, ourselves, try our very best to do what we Think is
helping another, without realizing it is not what they really want. In
shared understanding more, we can help them better and in so doing
reflect what they do need, thus bringing our own thought more in line
with One Mind, Love, Truth of our and everyone’s Being.
Without this understanding, conflicting ideas of what we Think is
needed seems contrary to what we Thought we knew, but in wanting
to help them, out of love for them, we sometimes don’t understand
completely the reasoning, but Think it is helping.
Misunderstandings that may seem selfish, become more in tune in
harmony when the Truth is revealed. Love Is reflected in Love.

  8. I’m always so grateful for the examples given by the commenters here and especially in Evan’s Spiritview Blog in demonstration of healing truth of God’s Truth. It always helps me understand what is true and how to demonstrate it.
A few lines from Science and Health that come to thought: “In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dissolve, with the universal law of Love, the adamant of error, self-will, self-justification, and self-love,…….”
“love for God and man is the true incentive in both healing and teaching,”
    “Love is the liberator.”
“The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God, a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love.”

  9. Thank you Evan for this very helpful and needful message – we must not to be overcome by
evil, but to overcome evil with good. Then it is good for all.

Thank you all contributors also – all very thoughtful and helpful.

  10. Thank you very very much dear Evan! It’s a wonderful and very helpful testimony! And I am also thankful that I could sit quietly and listen to it. The speaker of the Tri-City Herald reads it very clear.

Thank you dear Maggie, so very well commented!♡

This Evening the reading in my church was about Christ Jesus. It was a powerful reading explaining the healing Christ whom Jesus expressed so perfectly in all his healings and preaching that the heaven is within us.
Am I glad we are taught today again by the Christ, Truth through Christian Science – thank you dear God!♡

  11. A bit off topic, but looking off into the view: of nature’s green
fields, trees, birds, mountains and never ending sky …
sometimes feeling like the whole world is passing by,
in technology, materialistic everything it seems, AI.
We have so much to learn from nature.
Sometimes it seems so many have forgotten
the simple joys of just Being … in God’s Beautiful! world
where words can not express the loveliness of Spirit’s
prayer, the complimenting and encouraging, synergistic
    care
of angel wings, surrounding us always
Even when we don’t always know they are there.

  12. Thank you dear Carol; it’s very beautifully said, and it’s so right what you say. I love to sit in my garden, and listen to the birds’ chatting and singing, enjoying the lovely nature and thanking God for this wonderful gift to us to enjoy!♡
