A More Helpful View of Emergencies

September 9, 2014 | 12 comments

While driving past a local hospital, a friend noted the word EMERGENCY over a side entrance, and suddenly was hit by a more inspired view of that word. Instead of seeing a location to drop in with dire physical ailments, she saw a state of divine Mind to reach out for and find.

The word broke down into parts for her in the form of

EMERGE – N – CY

or

EMERGE – AND – SEE

And that’s what we all need to do when faced with physical emergencies—emerge out of a frightened sense of life in matter to realizing life in Spirit where God’s help is at work in full force.

You don’t have to drive downtown to find God’s aid. It’s right where you are. EMERGE AND SEE!

  1. Your article reminds me that whenever we heard a siren, my mother would remind us to pray and affirm that the Christ was already on the scene. I love the idea of that” scary” word EMERGE-N-CY as emerge and see! That God’s help is at work in full force right there. A fresh view of God’s goodness and love. Thanks, Evan

  2. Thanks, Evan and Grace. For many years now when I come across an accident scene I affirm that the only thing that is “emerging” is divine Love. Only the Christ activity is present. It is a wonderfully comforting idea to me and to all.

  3. I will never look at that word the same way . I remember the same thing happening when I broke down disease to dis-ease. lack of ease.

  4. Evan, I love the way you look at words. EMERGE AND THEN SEE the falisy of falsehood. When, from the News Media we hear of a conflict, we can then “EMERGE N SEE,” that God’s law of adjustment is right there fixing it.

  5. Thank you Evan for this blog and also Grace and Mary S for your additional comments. In the Bible Lesson this week it states that the body is the temple of the Holy Ghost and it came to me that I therefore have to do away completely about noticing the body or even to imagine that I can do anything to improve its movements but instead to understand that it is not my role or duty to take necessary steps to take care of my body. It is Mind, the intelligent God who created the form, owns it and therefore is the only One who is taking good care of it. My only rule is to understand that I do not live in any material belief nor in matter but I live a reflected Life as the Scriptures states; ” For in him we live and move and have our being.” So a right activity is a continuous emergence in Spirit and in Truth. Then we see the ever presence of God, Spirit and His idea, man, as spiritual.

  6. Oh WOW !!! That’s wonderful and so applicable to all situations – emerge and see God’s care, abundance , guidance – emerge and see the kingdom oF heaven right here right now ! Thanks Evan ♥

  7. Inspired! I, too, will never see or think about the word in the same way. And, sadly, we have many opportunities to see/hear this word these days.

  8. Wonderful post and comments! See the article in the October Journal. I think it’s the last article- written by a practitioner in Michigan. Awesome

  9. Ditto all the above wonderful comments. What a ” red alert” this has been for me—from now on whenever there is something startling in my circumference or periphery—i.e. siren, scene of an accident, loud noise , something startling and undecipherable as to what “IT” is, I shall immediately “emerge——and————see” with my spiritual vision, my spiritual understanding. How much more rapidly I can help, no matter what is presented because God’s spiritual loving care, lifts my thought way up above error’s siren call. Much gratitude for this lovely, very special word unfoldment, reversing an ominous word right into a helpful “turn to God” direction.

  10. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy writes: (a few words left out for clarity for our discussion)

“…divine Principle… is equal to every emergency, offering
full salvation from sin, sickness, and death. Sin will
submit to Christian Science when, in place of modes and
forms, the power of God is understood and demonstrated
in the healing of mortals, both mind and body. ”

Excellent comments on an important topic. Thanks, all.
