Hit the MUTE button

July 24, 2013 | 6 comments

Do you ever hear messages pouring into your thought that you don’t want to hear?
Loud mental bellowing like, “You should be afraid. You are going to fail. You are going to stay ill. You lack.”
If so, it’s time to hit the MUTE button and silence those unwanted trespassers.
Yes, there is a MUTE button in consciousness you can hit to stop the rowdy ruckus. It’s called, “I have better things to do with my thinking.”
Have you ever ridden in a noisy commuter train and read a book? What happened when you got absorbed into your book?
If you’re like me, you stopped hearing all the noise around you. You got so absorbed into the message radiating off the page that you didn’t listen to the neighbors yakking away. It’s like they weren’t even there.
You can do the same with unwanted mental messages. You do not have to entertain them, honor them, or give them a resting place in your thought-home. You can slam the door and devote your attention to something more beneficial.
I know it feels hard to do at times. “The noise is so loud!” we protest. But it’s not louder than the voice of Truth, which roars above it all.
You can find God in the noisiest of circumstances. You can hear the voice of Truth no matter how loud and aggressive the carnal mind pretends to be.
You are not thinking up the obnoxious taunts. You are not the creator of them. They are impositions of the carnal mind attempting to come in from outside your consciousness. And you don’t have to let them find a resting place in you.
The impressions of error are not commanding. You do not have to serve them or honor them. Kick them out! Mute them by having no interest in them or fear of them.

Rest in a consciousness of Truth and live free.

  1. I have to “MUTE” so many times that I am almost an expert at it. It’s good experience when I have to “MUTE” out all the mortal garbage, I hear. I used to fear some one who speaks error most of the time, but that’s no good. Else I would have to become a hermit of society. No, the practice of “MUTING”
Is a wonderful mental remote that allows me to be in this world but not a part of it. God Bless you Evan for posting this blog.

  2. I seem to have been dealing with this issue my entire life. Your message is EXACTLY what I needed to hear today. Can’t wait to put it into practice. Am so grateful for this delightful blog, Evan! The uplifting truths and encouragement shared here are so often exactly what I need to hear. They brighten and bless my day!!

  3. I want to thank you for all the help your messages have given me. Pushing the mute button is possible and I really needed the reminder that I have that God given ability. Thank you Evan.
