How to win over the heart of your neighbor

“Sacrifice self to bless one another, even as God has blessed you. Forget self in laboring for mankind; then will you woo the weary wanderer to your door, win the pilgrim and stranger to your church, and find access to the heart of humanity.”

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Miscellaneous Writings, p. 155.

  1. It’s such a blessing to sacrifice self in laboring for mankind. It’s only in giving that we get joy, true bliss and peace, The very nature of God is to give. So we His children can not hold back from giving. This selfless giving brings us in par with God.
Giving from the heart, selflessly, wins over the hearts of neighbors and humanity. Giving and blessing one another pleases God who sends showers of blessings endlessly. ” We live our life with what we have but we make our life with what we give”.

    1. Gorgeous, wonderful and so true, thank you Nergish!
Thank you Evan, very needed. Love that sentence by MBEddy.
Presently very important is also “if we forget our self and labor for mankind, then we will win the pilgrim and stranger to our church”. Ok, the whole sentence is so important for the peace in the world!

  2. Sharing a Prayer I found at a Spiritual Retreat I attended recently:
    A Retreat Prayer –
“In your Silence, May you hear the Voice of God.
In your Solitude, May you find the Peace of God.
In your Prayers, May you feel the Love of God.
In your Reflections, May you come to Love Yourself as much as God Loves You.”

  3. Thank you for these messages of selflessness. My renter is having financial problems. I have decided to sell the house as this is my income source. It seems more compassionate to wait till after Christmas to tell her even though it delays the process. I know God will deliver us both into new homes. Trust and patience. Good reminders of God’s love, care and guidance.

  4. This post brings to mind a disagreement I had years ago with our neighbours – their two big dogs made it impossible for our young children to leave the house through our only gate on their own. I honestly and meekly knew the Truth about the situation and the words from Science & Health came to me…”Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way” I kept these thoughts close, and a little while later my sister, knowing nothing of the situation, suggested to me what a good idea it would be to make an exit from our land further down the lane, making a more prívate entrance. This we did, very successfully, being a blessing for our neighbours and for us. Love truly led the way in illuming the situation by inspiring my sister, and actually designating the work to be done. What blesses one must bless all… thank you Evan
