Lecture Webinar

For Christian Science lecture committee members who are looking for ways to reach spiritual seekers through the web, you might get excited to know that a format is now available. The lecture webinar!
As a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, I’ve been researching how to give a live lecture over the web for the last year, and now have a method worked out. The technology is the tricky part, but it’s doable.
I can now give a lecture live from my office here in Richland, Washington, and speak to anyone around the world who has an Internet connection.
I have a live video feed of good quality to the user, a chat box available to communicate back and forth with the audience, and other tools online to share the message with graphics, text and video roll. Participants can ask me questions, and I can answer them in real time. This is so cool!
This format is a dynamic new world for lecturing and offers expansive possibilities for reaching people who might never attend a lecture in a library or edifice, but will log on to their computer and check it out.
Anyway, it’s a steep learning curve at the moment, but branches are showing interest and preparing to sponsor these events. The possibilities are awesome!

  1. Evan, that´s really good news !
Please let us know when you decide to give a lecture webinar.
It´s an amazing oportunity for readers like me that live in an other country and I´d love to participate !

  2. Hey this is great. Thank you for taking these steps and all the prayerful work that has gone into this. So, I would guess that the sponsoring church could know how many “attended” the lecture. correct? However, as I think about this, other than the attendees being able to ask questions, which is huge, what would be the advantage to this over the on-line lectures already available? Hmm, a personal connection with the speaker through the questions, variety, current/live, spontaneity. I can see where this would be really nice.

    Thanks again!!

  3. The difference between this and the current online lectures is the interaction. As a viewer, you would be participating in the event rather than being solely an observer. It changes the dynamics of the whole event. It’s a back and forth rather than only one way. Also, I can use other tools like slides and text to bring out my points.

  4. Hi Evans. Wow what wonderful news! I can’t wait to be part of it. A wonderful way to feel part of God’s spiritual family. Thank you Evans. Bless you!

  5. Even,
Thank you for all the many helpful blogs.
I have participated in many Webinars in my work. The participation opportunities are wonderful. Especially when you live in small places such was we do. It will be like we are in the same room with you. Let us know when you are ready. Please consider us who live in Europe. For example it is 18:00 here and 09:00 at your office. James & Marilyn.
