“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”

  1. Lovely message. Letting go of whatever hampers our spiritual growth, alone will bring us peace, harmony and lasting happiness.
Letting go of the beliefs that the cure of an ailment is only in medicine, that there is true happiness in the worldly way of life, that one can be happy only if one marries, that one needs a god father to get a good job, can help us move forward towards a better life – a spiritual way of life, where our supremely powerful and ever present God is our Physician, our job provider, our dependable companion, our source of true happiness.
Are we willing to let go of the shore? i.e. the belief in material life and swim for new horizons? i.e. a more productive and happier life in spirit and to know our true identity as spiritual?
Yes of course courage is essential to leave the old conventional way of thinking and to explore new horizons of our true identity as wholly spiritual. Radical reliance on the supreme power of God, His all ness and goodness can help us to accept a new spiritual way of life and abandon the temporal and material way of life. “Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living is Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man’s dominion over the whole earth.”
So…We can not swim for new horizons – where there is lasting happiness, peace and harmony unless we are willing to leave the comfort zone – a purely material world with its short lived and vain pleasures.

  2. Wonderful inspiration, Evan and thank you Nergish for your insight as well. Very helpful thoughts to sail beyond what would hold us back if we dwell only in the mortal way of thinking.

  3. Thank you, Evan, for the quote and Nergish, for the spiritual interpretation – nice work! I’m in the middle of experiencing trying to hold on to the shore while wanting to move forward spiritually! Yikes! All I can say is, “Lord, I believe! Help Thou my unbelief!” Praying for more Faith and Spiritual Understanding and for Confidence for all my Fears!

  4. Thank you all, and Bevi, I don’t think that you are alone on the shore. Actually, I bet it’s crowded.

  5. I know that this was posted yesterday, but I thought that this may be the thought that may help someone. A good friend from church gave this to me.

    LET GO and LET GOD

As children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God, because he was my friend.
But then, instead of leaving Him in peace, to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help, with ways that were my own.
At last, I snatched them back and cried,
“How can you be so slow?”
“My child,” He said, “What can I do? You never did let go.”

  6. Yes. looking forward. I had to laugh when I read Let Go and Let God. My teacher suggested I use this when I was in labor for my first child. A very fast delivery.
