Listen to the voice of praise

February 25, 2022 | 19 comments

God loves you and has only good things to say about you!

If you’re ever hearing a litany of wrongs about you pealing through thought, be quick to shut them down, and listen to what God has to say instead.

It’s a common tendency of the carnal mind to frame our being in a negative light, always looking for something wrong, making us look bad, feel bad, and working to get us demoralized about our standing and future. But the carnal mind is wrong! You can’t learn anything truthful about your status with God through the carnal mind.

Be wise and shut the carnal mind down! Listen to divine Mind instead.

God sees all the good in you.

God sees what God put in you in the first place, which is the ability to act intelligently, to do the right thing with good results, to love, thrive and prosper.

God is your Best Friend. Your Best Friend sees all the good you are capable of, all the love you’re able to express, all the wisdom you’re able to act on.

God sees the best in you and works to bring it out.

God has only praise to send your way!

Listen to the voice of praise and let it inspire you to be everything you are divinely designed to be.

  1. So excellent and timely once again❣️
    Thank you Evan.

As I heard mean accusations that were not true directed towards me by my spouse; the person who we don’t expect to behave that way, I was never so grateful to understand God’s love for me and the truth.

It seems like the error being amplified that is occurring around the world and pretending to be real is causing individuals to be angry, scared, and mean.
I choose to see it for what it is and be at peace knowing harmony is the fact. I am so grateful to hear the voice of God.

  2. Amen and amen! Thank you Evan and Susan J.
Really helpful ideas with a problem in my life right now.
    Love to you both.

  3. “God is all there is to you. You have no alternative
but to be precisely what God is expressing. This confirms that you have not one element, not one
characteristic which is not of God.”

This is from a talk, The Veil Is Lifted. “The veil
is the total misconception of existence; the
belief of a life and mind separate from
    God.”
    Doris Henty

    1. Hi M, I loved your excerpt from the Doris Henty article. While looking online for a link to the full article (did not find one), I came across the transcript of a talk by Peter Tyner, CS addressing an annual meeting of a CS nursing facility (Olive Glen).

Here is a part where he quotes Doris Henty talking about the “I AM” as God defines Himself, he says,

“The marvelous Christian Science writer Doris Henty renders it this way– God is the I, and Man is the Am. The opposite belief in dualism, or separation from God, makes it feel like things are happening to us, like a chronically bad haircut, non-stop abuse from a loved one or one major car expense after another. For some of us it’s like getting hit in the face with a cream pie over and over… so often we begin to expect it. But the truth is, nothing can happen to you, because you are what’s happening. No suggestion of incoming darkness can survive the radiating, outbound light of reality which is your Christly selfhood. Be self-aware in Spirit and refuse to be the channel of insult, fear, or negative expectation. Nahum 1: verse 9 says “the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.”

The link to the full transcript is very looong, but search “Olive Glen Annual Meeting 2020” and it comes up in the results, there is also an audio of the talk at theoliveglen.com/talks

      1. I am very fond of Doris Henty. Mulberry Press publishes her books or books about her
She also said God is so thoughtful he even provides a saucer under your cup or something like that. Took me a while to understand she was referring to God’s Allness.

    2. I have several copies of the DORIS HENTY book and also the CD’s of her book that I listen to in my car.

She was a phenomenal CS Practitioner in London and when asked by Boston to become a Teacher, she turned it down. All she wanted to do was HEAL because her own healing coming into CS was so remarkable. Her teacher was James Neal.

Her book is available from Mulberry Press in London – and a distributor from Iowa ships orders in the United States.

Doris Henty was 100% devoted to the teachings of absolute Christian Science, and never deviated.

    1. Amen to that Josef! Mrs.Eddy has said, “Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear, – this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony.” (S&H p. 324).

  4. Thank-you, Evan! This message of hope was especially inspiring to me this morning. I had wakened with a very heavy heart, feeling that I had really let a friend down last evening who was visiting our city from out of town. My husband and I had left considerably later than anticipated to pick her up at the time we agreed to go to a restaurant before she and I were to attend an event. In a phone conversation, I let her know that we would arrive where she was staying considerably later. (I had initially offered to pick her up to go to the restaurant versus having her take public transportation, as earlier planned.) In that conversation, she told me angrily that she would walk to the restaurant in the snow instead of waiting for us. What had seemed to exacerbate the tension was she had experienced a considerable loss the day before. By the time my friend arrived at the restaurant, a favorite where we had met before, I had found that we could not dine there because she needed a vaccination card and didn’t have one. We ended up going to a fast food place near the event instead. These disappointments seemed to color the whole evening for me, even though the music in the concert was incredibly beautiful and we were able to have civil, and even loving, conversation before and after the concert once the initial anger between us had abated. She even stated that she was “able to have gotten her daily exercise by the long walk.” We also arrived at the concert in a very timely fashion. After reading your article, Evan, I am realizing that the harmony that eventually resulted from our evening together is the ‘cream’ that had risen after the initial inharmony. I learned the lesson that humanly “trying to make things perfect for a friend” is a form of outlining and not allowing God’s government to preside. Instead of feeling like I failed my friend through bad timing, I can let the memory of disharmony at the beginning of the evening wash away from consciousness and realize that the substantiality of the good experienced in the evening is the reality, not the other. I am now happily clinging to the phrase from Science and Health, p. 276: 14 “Harmony in man is as real and immortal as in music. Discord is unreal and mortal.”

  5. I also liked Evan’s comment about God being our Best Friend. Sandra (Sandi) Justad’s article talks about how she talks to God, grace, etc..
    https://sentinel.christianscience.com/shared/view/2o77lz7qk6k

In regard to what is occurring in the world, as Susan J mentioned, I also liked Sandi Justad’s comment from another article.
    – “God is All. He’s got this. He governs people and nations. We don’t have to shoulder this burden. It’s trusting divine Mind, God, the creator of the universe, who saw all He had made as “very good”. It’s turning consistently to God to understand His omnipotent goodness is what is really going on, truly governing His entire creation, regardless of what often appears as chaos and disunity. Affirm divine MInd’s harmonious government of man and the universe and our innate ability to move in accord with this intelligent and all-wise government.”

      1. Hi Joan, the name of the article is “Stopping the loop of distressed thinking”, by Sandi Justad, 11/16/2020.

Another good article below is by Larissa Snorek, “Counteracting chaos and disorder”. An excerpt: “Praying is not about ignoring world events or conflict, but about going up higher—elevating our thinking to recognizing what God is doing, now. We can let peace begin with each of us, right where we are, when we hold a purely spiritual view of all, especially those who we feel are at fault. Our unselfish actions and prayers do not excuse anyone’s wrongdoing or smooth it over; they strengthen the expression of integrity everywhere and foster individual acts of love and peace.”
