Make Love a priority

October 2, 2020 | 34 comments

It’s the remedy for a happy home, a happy marriage, and happy relationships with family or at work. Love!

When love is the priority, conversations go better, understandings come quicker, hurt feelings are melted, forgiveness is easier to find and common ground is found.

Love is what enables people to get along with each other.

Love looks for the good in the other person and brings it out!

Love is not worried about itself, consumed with attaining selfish wants and always trying to get something out of another person.

Love is outward focused. It shines light on those it blesses and improves their circumstances. Love makes things better.

Love doesn’t get into an argument of “Who did what?” and “Whose fault is it?” Love is not interested in pointing fingers and placing blame. Love is interested in healing.

Love seeks a route to harmony and peace.

Love does not make evil a reality. Love strips evil of reality.

Love separates the evil from the relationship, wipes out the evil and saves the relationship.

Love is not a personal emotion with good days and bad days. Love is God (I John 4:16), the sum of all goodness that one could ever possibly have.

Side with Love today, and let Love bless everything you do and everyone you meet.

Make living Love a priority. Everything will go better.

  1. Christian Science..the knowledge of the Law of God..is Love. Thank you Evan for showing the total benefit we receive by making Love our focus.!

    ‘If I have the gift of prophesy and can fathom all mysteries and knowledge, and if I have absolute faith to move mountains but have not Love..I am nothing.’ 1st Cor 13;

    Have a Love filled experience everyone❣️

  2. This is a powerful message on Love. It made me immediately think of Hymn 126. I especially love the 3rd verse.

    “How sweet, how heavenly is the sight,
    When those who love the Lord
    In one another’s peace delight,
    And so fulfill His word;

    When, free from envy, scorn, and pride,
    Our wishes all above,
    Each can his brother’s failings hide,
    And show a brother’s love.

    Let love, in one delightful stream,
    Through every bosom flow;
    And union sweet, and dear esteem
    In every action glow.

    Love is the golden chain that binds
    The hearts that faithful prove;
    And he’s an heir of heaven who finds
    His bosom glow with love.”

  3. Good Morning Evan and the Spirit View family.
    The feeling that is conveyed by this morning’s lesson is the only way to live harmoniously.
    “Love is reflected in Love”, is part of the scientific interpretation of the Lord’s prayer found in the Christian Science test book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.
    Found on pages 16 & 17.
    The Sermon on the Mount found in the Holy Bible in the book of Matthew, Chapter 5, is the essence of Christianity. There Christ Jesus, lectured for all times the way to live in Love.
    All Christian Scientists know this and many have memorized the Sermon on the Mount, and all have memorized the Lord’s prayer, with it’s spiritual interpretation.
    I have said this to those new to the study who are looking for the security and happiness of a loving heart.
    Thank you Evan and all for welcoming all earnest seekers of Truth and Love, the angels of God’s presence,
    Guess I’m a Sunday School Teacher today…
    Thank You Dearly, all who love children, as I so love them. And the new generation forwarding the cause and movement to heaven’s harmony here on Earth. God IS Love.

  4. I love this :

    Where Love is, God is
    By Henry Drummond

    From the December 8, 1923 issue of the Christian Science Sentinel

    Where Love is, God is. He that dwelleth in Love dwelleth in God. God is Love. Therefore love. Without distinction, without calculation, without procrastination, love. Lavish it upon the poor, where it is very easy; especially upon the rich, who often need it most; most of all upon our equals, where it is very difficult, and for whom perhaps we each do least of all.—Henry Drummond.

    A ” love- ly” day to All !

  5. Thank you all for so gently, welcomingly, and lovingly, ushering us into Sunday School this morning ! I feel the uplift, expectancy, and peace of Love. Shalom.

  6. Thank you Evan and Everyone! This paragraph especially resonated with me:

    “Love is not worried about itself, consumed with attaining selfish wants and always trying to get something out of another person.”

    I couldn’t help substituting “God” for “another person” at the end of this sentence. I’ve heard others say (and in the past I too have entertained this thought), “I don’t see any results of my prayers so I’m going to stop praying and give up!” But I’ve realized what a selfish statement that is and how it uncovers the sin of just trying to “use” God to get what we want instead of truly loving God for just being God (i.e. for creating and maintaining everything in perfect harmony and for loving that creation continuously).

    So lately I’ve realized the importance of spending time just Praising God and just Loving God with all my heart! “Praise God” or “Praise the Lord” are commonly said by people of other religions but not so much with Christian Scientists I’m afraid. Let’s change that! Let’s be a religion of Praise to God! I think doing that will cause God’s creation to become more evident to ourselves and others!

    Here’s a beautiful song a praise from Psalms 92 (from The Message translation):

    What a beautiful thing, God, to give thanks, to sing an anthem to you, the High God!
    To announce your love each daybreak, sing your faithful presence all through the night,
    Accompanied by dulcimer and harp, the full-bodied music of strings.
    You made me so happy, God
    I saw your work and I shouted for joy.
    How magnificent your work, God! How profound your thoughts!

    1. Thank you very much for this idea Brian. Sometimes I feel like I am distancing myself from my friends because we have different opinions, and we “dig in our heels” so to speak. However, all my human opinions melt away when I focus on what God knows about them and just praising Him. Evan, and fellow SpiritView readers/commentors, you are deeply appreciated.

    2. I listened this morning to the Sentinel Watch from Monday, Sept. 28th on praising God. Don’t miss it. I don’t contribute here often but read every day and so appreciate your loving guidance, Evan, as well as the wonderful sharing by other SpiritViewers.

  7. “Love’s way the Master trod;
    He that loves shall walk with God.
    Love is the royal way.”
    Hymn 179

    1. Beth, knowing that God, Love is at the alter with your precious Granddaughter and your new Grandson.
      Enjoy a celebration of happiness and wonderment this weekend.

    2. I opened to hymn 196 this morning and felt the 2nd verse was a calming one to our turbulent political atmosphere.

      “ let all that now divides us
      Remove and pass away,
      Like shadows of the morning
      Before the the blaze of day.
      Let all that now unites us
      More sweet and lasting prove,
      A closer bond of union,
      In a blest land of love.”

      1. Thank you, CB! I have not thought of this hymn for some time and it is a perfect prayer for the political situation, isn’t it?!
        Thanks also to Evan for the universal reminders in your Spiritview today, covering relationship issues of all kinds. So needed and so helpful. Your blog and your Spiritview contributors are such a blessing to the world at large and to your readers specifically. THANK YOU ALL

  8. Evan & all who share, thank you, thank you
    All are praising God & including hymns & MBE
    As many of our branch churches write on the wall,
    “God is love.”

  9. Our missionary, the CS Monitor, is always enlarging our sense of divine love for all humankind. So grateful!

  10. I would love to reach out to everyone to hold President Trump and his wife Melania in your prayers every day. I’ve seen many past presidents over my many years and I have never seen any who has come even close to doing what he has done to help America
    further peace, prosperity,and well being for our country and our people. Christians tend to offer more tenderness and compassion toward everyone so regardless of your political beliefs I pray you will offer your Love daily. We can each love more and follow Jesus’s example. We can prove today that Christian
    Science can heal hearts and minds. I hope you will join me . Love is reflected in Love.

    1. Thank you, Patty. Love and prayers are definitely helpful in situations like this and your humble request is appreciated. I join you in keeping the President, his family, and everyone in our country and the world in the gentle arms of Love’s protection and care every day.
      Love is a healing agent in bringing harmony and can turn this challenge of hatred and division into a coming together of peace.
      Love IS reflected in Love.

    2. It seems best to keep specific political views off this site, in my opinion, keeping Love for all as a law rather than mentioning what a particular person has or has not done.

      1. Alex I so agree to keep political views separate. America was founded on separation of church and state..
        let’s share our joy and spiritual insights along with our gratitude.

    3. Thanks for sharing this loving reminder of our privileged duty to gratefully love and pray for those in these and all offices -sustained by divine Love, encompassing them and All as only able to be receptive to God’s infinite Love: reflecting God.
      -The Lord’s Prayer has been Wonderfully helpful, realizing “Our Father” is the Only reality;
      & am enjoying this article:

  11. Yes, dear SpiritViewFamily, we sure all do know that LOVE is the VERY Important “thing” we need/want/have/yearn for/possess now/look to for help/peace/reassurance/hope….and much more. But, I ask my seeking-self: DO I e-x-p-r-e-s-s Love, always, at all times, even toward those I…well, frankly…do not f-e-e-l loving toward, whom I disagree with, find annoying, disturbing, ‘wrong,’ misguided, or even…”bad?” How can I “love” what I don’t f-e-e-l loving toward, even if I SO want to, and see the vital importance of? Christian Science teaches from the basic truth of the Bible, first page: God made us just like Him/Herself! We ARE, already, in truth, the expressions of God, His ideas, His reflection, Her Creation. There IS no other Creation, for God’s Creation is Infinite! So who and what is this “me” that finds it difficult to love, to express divine Love, at all times, always? It is nothing but a LIE about me, and about others; but more important: About God! About Life, Truth, Love!

    We know better than to listen to Lies.

    Thank You, God, for instilling this in Your idea, Your children…..US!

    Amen

  12. Alex and John, from this end I do agree, this blessing blog is a metaphysical media, better not to turn it into a social media so that its purity is maintained and so is the blessing for All.

  13. Thank you very much, dear Evan, for today`s SpiritView on LOVE !
    I just remember the hymn “With Love I go along my way, and oh, it is holy Day …”

    Yes, everything goes better with Love and forgiveness. Yesterday when I was at a cash counter of a supermarket, a pot with creme fell from the counter and broke and the creme came out. The cashier said that I have to pay it although I did not do anything to it that it fell down. I said yes, that is ok. Outside the supermarket I thought to me. God does not know anything of a falt, and I forgave me and the cashier, whoever of us both let that pot fall down the counter. Nobody is guilty, and we both are God`s very loved children. Thanks and Glory to God, that He is LOVE !

  14. I may have told the story of stopping a rape before, but the experience taught me so much about love when I was only 15 years old and walking down a dark street in Chicago. As a man grabbed me and threatened to kill me if I didn’t do what he said, the
    Divine thought came to me, “My only hope is to see God in him.” As I pulled back and looked in his eyes seeing only good I told him to leave me alone. After doing this is 2nd time he gave me a push and said, “go on then.” I ran home rejoicing!

  15. One line for today..
    ‘ALL is under the control of the ONE MIND, even GOD’. S&H pg 544

    And God is Love❣️
