Master fear

We should master fear, instead of cultivating it.

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 197

Fear is not a power to fear. It’s an error to be mastered.

Conquer fear with spiritual truth, and live fear-free. It’s the happier way to be.

  1. Had to go to Newer on yesterday’s post to get this. Conquering fear at the base of problems is so important. Thanks for this and all messages Evan. Will check back later to see other comments.

      1. LOVE, love, loved the tip on locating today’s SPIRITVIEW message. Thank you Jane b from California, for shedding a light on an easy way to access a hidden daily message.

        1. Thank you, Happy to point it out. I love this forum and all who participate and look forward to joining each morning.

  2. Fear can be very sneaky. It creeps in when we are not standing porter. I love the verse from II Timothy: “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”. I looked up some of the definitions of ‘soundness’ eg. Faultless, unblemished, unbroken, robust, stable, uncontaminated, safe, flawless, entire etc. They are all the qualities and spiritual truths that fear would deny. Well butt out fear. You have no power over us!! Thanks for the reminder Evan.

    1. Linda thank you for unpacking the idea of a sound Mind. Mind (the Mind of God that is our actual mind) must be sound, stable, strong, complete, unbroken and filled with Joy, because those are qualities of God.

Sometimes “my” mind does not feel very sound. That lie of fear tries to sneak in the front door, back door or any way it can. But I don’t have to accept that false and limited mortal view. Even the idea of “my” mind is false, as it implies there are individual minds separate from and outside of God. Wrong!

  3. Thanks everyone. I loved what Linda shared. Very helpful. So grateful for all that Evan shares to get thought moving.

  4. The little boy in the picture is laughing off his fear because he has faith in his total support equipment…..a lesson for us all to use our support faithfully..that is our Father/Mother God! Thanks Evan and everyone.
‘Aye darkling sense, arise go hence. Our God is Good
False fears are foes.Truth tatters those when understood.’…hymn 513

  5. “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear.” 1 John 4:18. What is this perfect love? It is God’s all-encompassing Love for each of us coupled with our all-absorbing love of Him. Fear on the human level is nothing more than Forgetting Everything About Reality or False Evidence Appearing Real.

  6. Thank you dear Evan! “Fear is not in Love, but perfect Love casteth out fear”.

In old German translations one can find the text: “fear God and keep His commandments!”
Already in Sundayschool I learnt that it means correctly “honor and love thy God and keep His commandments” I found that interesting and very comforting that one must not fear God but rather l o v e our good God.

Thanks for all the inspired comments ♡

  7. I enjoy all the comments and of course the spirit View message very much and also I get an extra bonus because quite often the comments mention Hymn’s that I end up using in the Sunday service thanks for all those wonderful comments.
