Merry Christmas

December 25, 2015 | 40 comments

December 25th has arrived! For some, it’s a time of busy family activity. For others, it may be a quiet time alone with one’s thoughts and their source. Whatever type of day you spend this year, may you spend it with Christ, which is what Christmas is all about in the first place.

Christ is God’s power and presence at work within your being, giving you everything you need to be a happy, whole, complete being.

Parties start and end. Holidays come and go. But Christ is ever with you.

When you have Christ, you’re in the very best place you could possibly be.

Have a blessed Christmas.

  2. Thank you Evan for having wrapped the gift so beautifully for sharing God’s gift with the world. How grateful my wife and I are so grateful to receive and extend such love with others. Your “Christian Healing” tribute last evening was truly that: healing for all who will answer with “yes.” Merry Christmas to you and family with peace, joy and love.

  3. Happy Christmas to you and your family Evan! Thank you so very much for ALL your faithful
posts and for the lecture last night!!!!

  4. Wishing you dear Evan a joyous and blessed Christmas with a poem by John Greenleaf Whittier:

    THE JOY OF GIVING

    Somehow, not only for Christmas,
But all the long year through,
The joy that you give to others
    Is the joy that comes back to you;
And the more you spend in blessing
The poor and lonely and sad,
The more of your heart’s possessing
    Returns to make you glad.

Thank you for your selfless giving, caring and sharing.

  8. Abiding thanks, Evan, for your faithful, healing work for Church, embracing and blessing all! Christmas blessings – you, yours, all!

  9. Great gratitude for your lecture on Christmas Eve, dear Evan. Actually, it was early Christmas morning where I live. Your lecture started at 2:30 a.m., but I was up at around 1:00 a.m. Couldn’t sleep because I was so excited about watching your lecture! Didn’t want to miss a word. I’ve watched your lectures before, many times in fact, but the message in this lecture was very special, especially the “finale”. I cried as you told how grateful you were at your wife’s healing. You related how you too cried with gratitude. Hearing you tell about her healing gave me courage to believe, trust, that Christian Science healing at the highest level is possible today. You have proved it for all of us, just like Christ Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy did. Therefore, we can all trust that the power of God has not dwindled, is eternal, and is available for all mankind to benefit from in this age. We can be healed of all our diseases, sin, and death. Yes, even death. It’s Spirit and life in Spirit that is real. Everything else is unreal and temporal. Your understanding of the Science of Mind is so inspiring. Thank you, dear Evan.

May you all have a Christmas filled with the peace and love that is ours every day.

  14. Merry Christmas to You, Dear Evan, and to Your Family, and to All the Commenters and to Spiritview! 16. Thank you, Evan, for such a wonderful lecture last night. I’m very glad it can be replayed now. Yes, the Christ is always with us. A joyous Christmas to all.

  17. Thank goodness for the presence of the Christ comforting and loving us, when there are no family or friends nearby. Takes away the feeling of being alone. And even greater is it to know that it’s not just one time of year that the Christ is with and within us, providing the warmth and joy we need every day. 🙂

  18. Thank you Evan for all you do and that beautiful lecture and the beautiful music by Cherie last night. You truly teach us how to live it.

    Merry Christmas!

  19. Thank you, Evan, and the same to you and your family. You do so much for so many, you inspire and bless us with your lectures. You always seem to have just the right message for us! Again thanks.

  20. Thank you Evan. I wasn’t able to listen to the lecture last night, but I was thinking about you at the time it occurred and knowing it would be wonderful! And I plan to listen to it at my first opportunity.

Thanks to Evan and all of the contributors to this blog for sharing their thoughts throughout the year. To me this blog is an expression of the idea of “Church” since it is so effective in “…rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science…” (S&H pg 583).

Merry Christmas Everyone. May the Christ idea be present with each of you today, and everyday, and may you see that “divine manifestation of God” (Christ) expressed continuously in your life!!!

  21. Listened to the replay this morning.
    Wow!
Thank you for gifting a clearer understanding of Christ to us all.

    Happy Christmas ☺️

  22. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Evan!! Yesterday I was over taken with flu symptoms and had to miss our big, family Christmas Eve celebration. Your lecture from NYC couldn’t have come at a better time for me! I was feeling so sorry for myself and miserable because I was missing all the fun and in a lot of pain, but getting to watch your lecture alone really helped me to feel closer to God and remember what Christmas is REALLY about. I’m very grateful that I’m symptom free today. Thank you for being so kind and generous to spend your Christmas Eve sharing God’s love. All that you do, share and are is much appreciated!! Thank you!!!!!!

  23. I wasn’t able to hear your lecture last night Evan, but I’m so looking forward to curling up in a cozy spot this evening and absorbing all the Love and goodness pouring forth from your inspired thought.

Thanks also and blessings to all the commenters…a true family of Christlike thought. Who could ask for more Love than this.

Love, thanks and gratitude for all you contribute to this world Evan.

  24. Merry Christmas, Evan! and to all your readers. A special thanks to those who comment, often expanding on the ideas and beautiful inspirations Evan shares every day.
    Many thanks.
    Peace and good cheer!

  25. I, too, would like to thank you Evan for your selfless giving and teaching. I missed the lecture last night, but was blessed with all my family coming to our place, for sharing and togetherness in celebration of Christmas, ending with a bountiful dinner. I plan to spend a part of my day today in quietness, listening to your lecture. Thank you for the link.

    Have a blessed day everyone!

  26. Thank you Evan for your dear blessing. I share here what I’m sharing with all my worldwide friends.

The first Christmas was a momentous occasion that is celebrated worldwide with some degree of appreciation for its beneficial promise by people of virtually every earthly faith, Atheist, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Muslim among many others.

We use the term Christ to encompass the full meaning of this promise with all its constituent interrelated parts. The Christ has always, is and always will be with us for it is part and parcel of the eternal universe. Many people throughout history have had glorious glimpses of the Christ among them Abraham, Moses, Confucius, Buddh Gaya, Elijah, Elias, King David, Isaiah, Mohammed etc. Not everyone labeled their revelation with the name of Christ, but that is what it was. Jesus was the man, sent by God, who more than any other, revealed the full essence of the Christ in his sermonic lessons and demonstrations of the Christ power. In our own time Mary Baker Eddy came the closest yet to repeating these demonstrations of Christly power as Jesus himself promised was possible for everyone to do. Jesus was not God, as he himself declared (My Father is greater than I), but was sent by God to expose our sins (errors) and show that they can be overcome through a knowledge of God and demonstration of His Christ power.

The keystone of this Christ power is Love; pure, universal, eternal, unconditional and un-judgmental. Without the force of Love holding the elements of the universe, including man, in harmonious relation to each other, the universe would simply implode in a massive self-destruction. Sometimes it seems that is what is happening but that is only an illusion. Love is constantly righting the ship and if we can learn to be still and patient we can see the hand of Love in operation everywhere. Love is not an independent operator; it includes understanding, intelligence, wisdom, truth, honesty, forthrightness, trustworthiness, trustfulness, energy of Life, living not dying, goodness, kindness, compassion, mercy, spiritual substance etc. None of these virtues or qualities can exist without the other. If anyone is missing then it is not Love and needs to be rejected or corrected whether in our personal thoughts or attitudes and experiences or in the laws of our lands.

My prayer is that the Peace that Jesus left us in his last will be realized more and more in our daily practice of living. I pray that judges judge with compassionate understanding; lawyers give more weight to truth finding than merely winning; that politicians and their fans discard inflammatory rhetoric in favor of discussing the issues in a calm and reasonable manor; that parents be kindly to each other and their children, nurturing love, understanding and the right application of intelligence in their families; that the Roman Catholic church finally and publicly disband their various committees on inquisition, now known as the Congregation for Doctrine of Faith, and allow God to be the judge of men. I pray that the world fully and finally dispense with war as the only means of getting what they want and realize the Divine Love always has and always will meet every human need if we will only honestly, diligently, promptly and persistently test Love’s ability to do so.

If it were in my power, that is the Peace I would present to the whole world beginning with my worldwide friends. I truly love you all, but admittedly some take more effort to love than others but the effort includes its own blessings in the end. We can even learn to love our enemies and when we properly do so, we will discover that we have no enemies.

Children, let us love one another.

  27. I can add nothing more to the wonderful replies above!! Love to you and your wonderful family.

  28. Thank you Evan for this wonderful message! And, thank everyone for all the comments.

I am so grateful for Christian Science, and for the healing it brings through God, which nothing else can. Other things may address symptoms but they do not heal consistently.

I am grateful for Christ Jesus for demonstrating the Christ healing power, and to Mary Baker Eddy for explaining how healing works.

I am grateful for the healing progress I’ve made since returning to CS nearly six years ago; and I am very grateful that I am now able to help others, and share the Christ light with them.

    Merry Christmas everybody!

  29. Evan thank you for your selfless work, your lectures that heal, your blog that uplifts and all of the love you express to all mankind. What a wonderful example you are to all of us! Merry Christmas to you and your family and thank you for the beautiful lecture of healing.

  34. I Just don’t believe in tradition, and that goes for every thing for when it’s over, it’s over. But thinking and putting into practice God’s healing power is never over and that’s what I believe in.
