No isolation in divine Love

November 19, 2020 | 28 comments

If you’re tempted to feel isolated because of Covid restrictions and rules, there’s a spiritual point of view that can break you out of that feeling and keep you living a life that is filled with boundless freedom, joy and meaningful interaction with others.

I find inspiration in the story of Paul and Silas (Acts 16:22-26) who were thrown into prison and had their feet locked into stocks. Rather than wallowing in self-pity, complaining and worrying about their future, they prayed and sang hymns of praise to God. They refused to let their thinking get locked down and isolated with negativity. They stayed positive. They remained spiritually minded! They stayed in touch with God.

As a reward for their spiritual clarity, a massive earthquake occurred which shook the prison to its foundation and caused the doors to fling open. Paul and Silas were free!

Covid restrictions and rules may feel like a prison sentence, but they are not. They are an opportunity to see beyond the physical sense of things to spiritual reality and prove that the physical never limits the spiritual. What we see in Spirit crushes what appears to be real in matter, just like Paul and Silas looked beyond the prison walls to the allness of God and made the physical prison of no consequence to them. They walked out free.

We too can “Walk out free!” We can walk out of any mental prison mortal mind is trying to form around our thought. We can demonstrate God in control, not a pandemic. We can use our time well, stay in touch with our loved ones, remain productively employed and engaged with worthwhile activity. We can be moving down a path of progress that knows no limits.

So, refuse to be isolated. It’s a choice to make. Stay in touch with God’s omnipotence and omnipresence. Let every thought praise God and every word out of your mouth indicate Love’s presence. Stand up for your spiritual rights and keep living life to the fullest.

In the Mind of Love, there is no isolation. Only abounding and continuing good.

  1. Thank you Evan, that is such an uplifting message to start the day with. I am refusing to accept that “Good” is limited during this time! God’s goodness does not fluctuate, nor is it subject to material conditions or circumstances, so we cannot be depvied of it.

My sister and I, don’t live near each other and have only met in person once recently, when government guidelines allowed, however we have made it our practice to FaceTime most days and spend an hour reading the weekly Christian Science Bible lesson aloud and discussing it. We are enjoying a renewed closeness in our relationship and there is much spiritual growth going on!

    With love to all, x

    1. Dilys, that’s so dear to hear of the closeness between you and yr sister and of yr spiritual growth.
May God bless us all on our spiritual journeys. May we all dance with the Lord of our Life in perfect sync!!

  2. I have enjoyed this so-called “isolation” greatly as I have seen it as being isolated from the many distractions of my usual daily life and a marvellous opportunity to do more CS study, read many books, have very long email conversations back and forth with friends, do some painting, prepare some services for when we return to church. I’ve watched so many inspirational videos and listened to many inspired people speak and many have been like a virtual ‘revelation’ that has opened up my thoughts to new ideas or new ways to look at “old” ideas. I have gone tp Zoom church in Bombay and the Gold Coast in Australia , made new friends in America and Germany via the Christian Science Face book page. I will long remember 2020 as the year I took a giant leap ahead in my spiritual study and understanding. This year has been a marvellous time of opportunity that I took full advantage of! We may never get a time like this again and I know many others also used the time wisely. Of course, we miss our family and friends we couldn’t see or spend time with in person, but its also been an opportunity to rearrange priorities, reassess our lives and how we spend them. I wouldn’t want us to have a pandemic again but I think a month of lockdown every year would be marvellous to give people a chance to “regroup”, lay low, relax, or get things done!

    1. Diane I enjoyed learning of the many wonderful spiritual journeys you’ve experienced during this time. I too have been privileged to be able to dive much deeper into CS studies, and though it has been and still is quite challenging at times, the rewards are great and I’ve gained much in inspiration, demonstration and and growth Godward. I loved hearing that you will remember 2020 as a marvelous time of forward movement, as we often hear people say they want to forget this year as quickly as possible.

Blessings to Evan and all who visit Spiritview to learn and grow and share love and wisdom .

      1. Our Loving and lovely SpiritView Family makes me think this is how The Kingdom of God must be, and
IS! Full of light and joy and goodness and inspiration and comfort and safety and assurance…in every way,
always! Thank you, all, for sharing your good ideas given to you from our Source, the One God!
I, too, Diane W, feel as you do that this has been a time productive of growth Spiritward, of more quietness of thought and activity. It is perhaps what the world needs most: to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN to God! The answers are “at hand!” God knows what we need and IS supplying it. Our work is to open our spiritual eyes to What Is!
Much gratitude and love to you all,

        :<))

  3. I am grateful I have my job; I am grateful I do not have my lengthy commute but I do miss my co workers. I am grateful my family is doing well. I miss my grandchildren in another state. Zoom has brought my distant cousins into my life; no excuse we can’t meet. But is has also brought laser focus on my spiritual life which I appreciate. I lean on the sustaining infinite and I look forward to SpiritView every day.

  4. Thank you, Evan, for the positive lift! This reminded me of my graduation from 8th grade (in 1952) where i was asked to speak the first part of a Frank L. Stanton poem, Keep a-goin’:

    Keep A-Goin’
    by FRANK LEBBY STANTON (1857-1927)

Ef you strike a thorn or rose,
    Keep a-goin’!
Ef it hails or if it snows,
    Keep a-goin’!
‘Taint no use to sit an’ whine
    When the fish ain’t on your line;
Bait your hook an’ keep a-tryin‘
    Keep a-goin’!
When the weather kills your crop,
    Keep a-goin’!
Though ’tis work to reach the top,
    Keep a-goin’!
    S’pose you’re out o’ ev’ry dime,
    Gittin’ broke ain’t any crime;
Tell the world you’re feelin’ prime—
    Keep a-goin’!
When it looks like all is up,
    Keep a-goin’!
Drain the sweetness from the cup,
    Keep a-goin’!
See the wild birds on the wing,
Hear the bells that sweetly ring,
When you feel like sighin’, sing—
    Keep a-goin’!

    1. James that was a great poem to share. It made me both laugh out loud and also want to get moving. I think I’ll go climb a mountain today..

    2. Thanks James, loved that poem. Made me laugh. I pictured a young 8th grade boy reciting it. Let’s all stick with God and — keep a-goin’

  5. I am another SV fan who has benefited from more time spent at home studying many works by MBE plus monitor, sentinel and journal articles. Mustn’t forget to mention all the beautiful talks on u-tube either.
Can I also say what a blessing your daily blogs are Evan . It guides and encourages my daily prayers. So it’s time to think of those who feel isolation at present…to know that they too can experience the freedom of Divine Mind in operation.
Love the poem James. Blessings to our SV family❣️

  6. My experience during these trying times has been different from others. My essential 39 year business has never done so well. We have had a lengthy back log all Summer which goes into next year. Very overwhelming and stressful. I pray for those who are having a less than good experience.
Your testimonials this morning help me as well ! Thanks to Christian Science !

  7. We perform a essential servive, and cannot perform it from home, it’s service truck provided.
It’s pretty much businessa as ordinary, The thing I miss is the family gatherings, the church services.
This time is truly a reason to appreciate the “norm” of the usual everyday life, but as revealed this morning, there are avenues today to visit and share while adhereing to the law of the land.
We shall surely “keep a goin’.””
Thank you for your visit today. It’s a lovely way to begin this morning.

  8. Remember the experience of the King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon who thought his power was beyond that of any other, but was lost of his abilities until he rightfully acknowledge the true source of all being to reclaim his own rightful identity. This was even after experiencing the tossing of 3 Jewish sons into the fiery furnace. We have only to drop our false beliefs and acknowledge for ourselves the true source of our being to be freed from any false experience.

  9. Thanks Evan for this inspired healing message & for responding to & providing our needed SpiritView.
Thanks Martine for sharing this article, which Really helped, emphasizing “..one Father with His universal family, held in the gospel of Love” [SH577].
Thanks James for the timely “Keep a-goin’” poem, which really hit the spot.
Thanks all for sharing your lovely spiritual journeys.
So grateful we’re “leaning on the sustaining Infinite” [SHvii:1], & acknowledging God, good: guards & guides thought “..up to Thee” [Poems69]

  10. Thanks Evan
Thanks all of you for sharing…it made me feel so blessed, like I am part of one big family.. a wonderful feeling of not being isolated but included in the Spiritview family

  11. Thank you, Evan! And thanks to all who post such inspirational and healing comments here each day. I, too, am feeling blessed with the wonderful opportunities to feel God’s family so close!
Our church has had many ‘visitors’ from all over during our services.
As my son learned in Sunday School from a wee age, God is everywhere so we are never alone!
    Hugs to you all!
    Ali

  12. Along with this theme of “No isolation in divine Love”, I am reminded of Mrs. Eddy’s statement, (S&H 266:6) , “Would existence without personal friends be to you a blank? Then the time will come when you will be solitary, left without sympathy, but this seeming vacuum is already filled with divine Love. When this hour of development comes, even if you cling to a sense of personal joys, spiritual Love will force you to accept what best promotes your growth”…. “Universal Love is the divine way in Christian Science”.
I love the divine Love expressed and shared here, dear Friends/Universal Family of Truth.

  13. I realize this blog is not about me, but many of you helped me a few days ago regarding the passing of my sister. I have been “isolated” here for the last 1 1/2 weeks and I find that this was a very growing, poignant time for me spiritually. Sister passed peacefully yesterday and as soon as she passed I asked the family if I may read O Gentle Presence (her favorite hymn) after they took her away, I read the hymn O Tender Loving Shepherd. Reading Evan’s Blogs and reading all the comments daily gave me great inspiration. All All is well, Thanks to all of you for being there for me and everyone spiritually.

    1. Debbie, I am grateful that you felt comforted. I found that at the passing of two dear friends and a family member this year, my spiritual grounding was indeed my rock. I have clung to it. We have a tremendous gift in this forum of like-minded (Like-Minded!) individuals who love God above all else and support and honor our commitment as well. May your time reflecting on your dear sister be filled with the recognition of such moments of spiritual unity.

  14. “What we see in Spirit crushes what appears to be real in matter”, and “the physical never limits the spiritual”. What invigorating, inspired, and powerful thoughts for living today!!! Also, as you say Evan, “In the Mind of Love there is no isolation”. Yes, in this divine Mind we are all connected. We are One. And this Mind is continually unfolding inspiration and intelligence to It’s creation man. And because we express infinite Spirit we cannot be locked down to any physical location.
As so many of you Spirit “viewers” have so beautifully testified, this current condition of world thought has had a positive impact. And so too in my own experience. More time for study and prayer has enlarged my spiritual sense, which has enabled me to demonstrate Christian Science more effectively. And Evan, your council through this SpiritView pulpit and the enlightened comments from faithful followers continue to bless my life beyond measure!

  15. Dear Debbie,
You know the SpiritView family has had your family surrounded by Love. No isolation, but enclosed in Spirit.
All, all is well…thank you friends…

  16. Thank you very much , dear SpiritView friends for all your lively, inspiring and loving commentations!♡♡♡
Thank you so very much dear Evan, for your precious, inspiring SpiritView today. From this I am aware how grateful I can be for my Christian Science church, which had it’s reading room doors wide open for the public during the whole special time, and there were some visitors. And I could assist our librarian there. And since June we also have sunday- and wednesday services in our church building with social distance, staying in touch with God and also staying spiritually minded, where I serve as second reader, and we also have membership meetings with social distance. So i am thankful being around my lovely “churchfamily”, being aware of God’s loving and caring omnipresence and omniacting!♡
