“Troubles are a lot like people—they grow bigger if you nurse them.”
~ Author Unknown
Have you ever “nursed” a disease, thinking, examining, and mentally dwelling on it for long periods of time? Perhaps nursed a resentment, hatred, jealousy, or regret?
If you want to be free of a trouble, don’t nurse it. Expel it. Focus on understanding the spiritual truth that heals it. Nurse the truth, not the trouble, and live free.
Oh Evan, what a great one liner! So true , so helpful and so doable when we let Mind ‘nurse’ our thought❣️
Great thought to start the week. The graphic says a lot too. Thanks Evan
Thank you Evan, this is a good one, I love it. Easy to remember, easy to use. Direct from God. We are so blessed.
That you Evan, for stiring us to let go all these errors and instead “nurse” the spiritual Truth that heals in our consciousness and thinking and doings. Thanks for the strong start into the new week, also helpful for reading room service today.
Such a sweet graphic, love it, thanks!
Unfortunately my answer to the two questions posed in the first paragraph has to be yes. I have done both those things! So I’m grateful to be pulled up about them today, as I know I have to stop delving into the whys and wherefores of situations and see my always true spiritual selfhood as the perfect whole child of God. As you say, nurse the truth, not the trouble, and live free. Great message. Thank you.
If what you think is what you get it best be we think on the good., but that dictum by no means suggests we ignore Truth’s need to correct and govern.
In our “Footsteps of Truth” ever wrong must be corrected and every evil negated..
Then and only then are we on God’s highway all all the lights are green.
Thank you John for that sweet quote, “ you are on Gods highway and all the lights are green”. That was expressed to me so
Many years ago when I first joined the CS movement.!
The message this morning was so encouraging. Thanks Evan
Love to all, Barbara, Florida
This is SUCH an important point and reminds me of one time a practitioner said that we must not treat error seriously. He laughed at me saying “But this IS serious!” he said “Is error REAL and serious? Should we give it the respect and importance of something serious? Really?” I could see his point! Also another practitioner once said to me “What are you cherishing?” when I was having trouble finally getting rid of a problem for good. Reminding me that sometimes when a problem has been there for a long time, we start to identify with it as “OURS” to get rid of. We do tend to focus on the rror because all we want to do is FIX IT…. but remembering that HEALING IS REVEALING, we must focus on the Truth.
Love the comment not to treat error seriously! It breaks the mesmerism. The only reality error can have is the reality we make of it! Thanks, Diane.
Can God be at cross purposes?
All good ways to live. Focus and affirming the facts of our guide in living. The everpresent Christ.
Speaking of wise practitioners one once told me truths through examples. This one comes to mind.
“David if I were standing in front of a black board and took some chalk and wrote a big zero on the black board, what does that stand for?”
I really didn’t quite know, at that time what she was getting at. She patiently waited for an answer.
“It stands for nothing”. She finally said. “Now how do you make something out of that zero?”
Again I waited and didn’t know how to give her the answer she was looking for.
“David to make something out of it, you must put a ONE in front of it. That would give it value , wouldn’t it? Now don’t you EVER be that ONE”.
That was a very long time ago, but it remains and is a very good way to address inharmony that comes to mind.
Handle evil thought scientifically, so they cannot handle you.
Thank you for remembering the sweet and simple truth’s from such enlightened practitioners.
Thank you Evan for bringing out the best thoughts for today.
Lovingkindness. Have a wonderful week everyone.
Lovely picture & I’m not a gardener, except metaphorically.
I’m appreciating all the quotes from the practitioners that all have enjoyed, over the years. One of my Practitioners, over 50 years ago told me that healing didn’t have to be a lengthy struggle. Just a short affirmative statement could meet the need.
He said that if I heard an ambulance passing, I could declare there are no accidents in Mind. To this day, I always remember.
Bless us all & especially the C S Practitioners.
My profound gratitude, EVAN
I’m so grateful too, as always, for the revelation of Christian Science, Christ who is speaking to us, Mary Bsker Eddy, for Evan & every one from this amazing SpiritView family of practitioners… I’d say each one is really a practitioner as these constant, FRESH, delightful, lovely ideas are shared & developed together!! What joy!!
Love & Thanks to all!
Theodora
I don’t know why my comment didn’t go through above.
Before I found CS I attended a Religious Science church. The minister told us “You will have negative thoughts, but you don’t have to entertain them.” I have remembered that often throughout the years.
Thanks Theodora, this reminds me of a statement I once heard, ” You can’t stop a bird from flying over your head, but you don’t have to let it build a nest in your hair!” Meaning that thoughts will come and go if left alone, but if we jump in and start engaging with mental lies we ensure that they will stick around that much longer.
& loving this week’ Bible Lesson, including:
‘Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.’ [I Thes 5:16-18; section 6]

Thank you Evan – this is so simple, yet brilliant. A succinct reminder of what is imperative in our spiritual progress.
And Angie, your comments and links to other articles are always very helpful to me. Thank you x
Thanks for your thoughtful note
This topic stirs my thought in memory of my budding years in Christian Science, when I was nurtured by a most loving and consecrated practitioner. She was a reader in the church I began to attend and she was journal listed, so her practice was very full and active. Yet, knowing I was new to Science, she made the time to see me in her office once per week, until after about two years I felt ready for class instruction. Our visits were precious to me. We would study Science and Health together, and I remember feeling my path being so rooted and grounded in Love. Right away I was healed of migraine headaches and cigarette smoking. This practitioner lovingly tended to my spiritual growth, so that my understanding of the Truth would be firmly established, and so that I would gain the highest esteem for Mrs. Eddy’s mission. Her commitment to my advancement in Science is something I will always cherish. Through her example of love, steadfastness and healing works I embraced Christian Science as a way of life. Of the many things shared by this angel in my life one stands out right now… At times when I was troubled by some perceived problem, she would say, “It’s just pictures honey!”, and healing would follow.
Thank you Evan for increasing our gratitude and focus on the good!
Linda I love that statement, “It’s just pictures honey!” That’s all error ever is, false mental pictures that mortal mind is trying to paint. Thanks for sharing that. You are blessed to have had that loving practitioner guiding and supporting your growing understanding of Truth.
We are all blessed to be a part of this loving community of spiritual thinkers. Thank you Evan for providing this wonderful platform where we can grow together.
Thank you for all these comments. I like to think that this life we see here on Earth is just a dream and we will awaken to our true heavenly existence.
Ty, Angie, for another wonderful article…
You wanta grow, you have to OPEN, there’s always an opening to growth, It’s mental, spiritual, powerful, but an opening is present when there’s growth. Without growth, there’s no proof of LIFE. Knowing that we are LIFE, there’s our stimulus to GROW! We reflect each synonym of GOD, so we have to grow.
