Put more trust in God, and less trust in evil

More than once, I’ve heard people who wanted to be healed spiritually but doubted God’s ability to help them, say something like, “I don’t have enough trust.”

If I hear those words, I’m usually quick to point out that, in fact, they have lots of trust. The issue is not a matter of having trust, but of where you put your trust!

If we doubt God’s ability to help us, it doesn’t mean we don’t have trust. It means we trust evil more than good, disease more than health. We are trusting the claims of mortal mind to have more power over us than the goodness and love of God.

A key to finding spiritual healing is to have less trust in evil and more trust in God, good!

Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “If thought is startled at the strong claim of Science for the supremacy of God, or Truth, and doubts the supremacy of good, ought we not, contrariwise, to be astounded at the vigorous claims of evil and doubt them, and no longer think it natural to love sin and unnatural to forsake it, — no longer imagine evil to be ever-present and good absent? Truth should not seem so surprising and unnatural as error, and error should not seem so real as truth. Sickness should not seem so real as health”
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 130.

You have plenty of trust. You have huge amounts of trust. You have all the trust you need to demonstrate the healing power of God. Move your trust from evil to good, and the blessings of God will appear in your experience faster than you ever dreamed.

This article by Martha Harris Bogue is so powerful on this subject it was reprinted two more times in the periodicals. Designated to take a case of paralysis in a distant town when no other workers were available, she went with knees shaking, having no confidence whatsoever. Then she realized just your point, Evan, that she had tons of confidence – that she’d fail!! But they hadn’t called on her, they called on Christian Science, on the power of Truth, of God’s all-ness, omnipotence and Love, and she KNEW God never failed. Of course, the healing followed.

      1. Thank you, Brian! What an amazingly power article! Thank you, Evan, for such a much needed reminder of the demand to trust that God IS in charge: health wise, relationally, politically, in ALL stages, states, and circumstances of mankind’s expression!!

    1. Thank you so very much for that Journal article. It really hit home to me and reminded me that we can never he in any situation where God is not.

I’m like a hungry person at a table since signing up for Spirit View. I’m so grateful that Evan has opened up the opportunity for us to study his messages and then allow us to further discuss and grow in our spiritually.

      Thank you

  2. Very to the point about where we have trust. Thank you for this wake up. Also appreciate the previous comments and article to look up.

  3. Ah ha! You caught me, Evan!
I’m going to shift my thought now:
I DO have all the trust —- in God!
Blessings, many thanks and ever more thanks.

We ALL are already there! We are already at the place of a full understanding. We just need to claim and accept it.

  4. Thank you Even for this pep talk! Great to be reminded that we “have all the trust we need…huge amounts of trust”. Love the way you communicate ideas. (=

  5. Thanks Evan. This has been enormously helpful. and it goes along with the lines of a hymn that I love..”Come walk with Love along the way, Let childlike trust be yours today” hymn # 144

  6. Thank you Evan and D.W. Allison for that article! It was one of the most inspiring pieces I’ve ever read! It is meeting my need that we don’t rely on any personal ability to heal but stand with God who has called us to victory!

  7. Thank you for this clarification. I remember years ago noticing how much time was spent on ‘managing evil’ from sharing information, going through rituals, trying to imagine every evil and a remedy for it. We must be alert but we don’t have to be fearful.
I notice as some of my symptoms and my elderly dog’s symptoms can be glaring, I know that somewhere in my thought I give more trust/belief in evil. To appreciate the basis of life as good takes time to complete the shift and know we are already there. Someone will say once in a while to me how positive I am. It is a choice but in the end it is not a choice to lean on goodness.

  8. Boy! did you ever hit the nail on the head, Evan! Thanks so much for this! I am also looking forward to reading the above referenced article. I really need help in this area.

  9. Thank you so very much Evan, for this needed, very helpful and uplifting post of today!
You are very right, we have trust, however we must shift it to the right side, to the side of God, Truth and Love from where healing is coming!
Mrs. Eddy assures us in Science and Health that God gives everybody faith and understanding, with which man can defend himself against error of all kind.
Brian , thank you for the link to the article about “confidence”.
Evan, your SpiritView is so blessing and healing, thanks a lot. 🙂

  10. I trust that God will bring me healing through whatever temporary and eternal means He feels best fits my level of understanding. Using medicine doesn’t mean I don’t trust God–it means that, for right now, God sees that He can most quickly and with least fear transmit His healing power though temporary, material agents. This is what Mrs. Eddy talks about when she says it’s best to leave broken bones to surgeons and for people in great pain to allow the doctor to inject them with pain medicine.

Christian Scientists who use medicine are sometimes seen as 2nd tier members. But Mrs. Eddy is clear in several places that we shouldn’t attempt healings beyond our current abilities.
