Spiritual sense is an inspired sense

Material sense is depressing. Spiritual sense is inspiring.

To stay inspired, stay focused on the realities of Spirit. Seek spiritual mindedness above all else and let thought soar in the heights of heaven.

    1. I will also read this article now, because for the first time in ages, watching the news is very depressing when we watch and replay the material picture. (Unbelievably, tonight they are replaying the Bush admin story! on TV. Why can’t they move on! The material political picture always seems to be corruption, dishonesty and damage…and it can be so hard to deny it all when someone else in the house wants to keep watching it. However thanks to YOU, and Evan’s daily inspiration, I will now read the SPIRITUAL SENSE article!
Thank you for posting it Martine in Paris!

      1. Hi Diane, do you know what’s awesome?
You don’t have to wait for others to move on. Two dear Christian Scientist friends have shared with me in the last year: “stay out of their dream.” I live with someone who could not have more different political, social, etc views them myself. But we always put our love for each other first. When the news or something political that I don’t want to see is on TV, I quietly leave the room to pray or study with Christian science literature or use it as an opportunity to shut off the material senses and pray mentally.
I’ve also taken on Mrs Eddy’s stance on politics. It’s quoted near the end of this article I have linked. I hope some of these ideas help!

      2. There is a news website called goodnewsnetwork.org. It has been around for about 20 years. It is not related to Christian Science but since all the stories presented, from all over the world are positive and uplifting, it is expressing the goodness in God’s universe.

  1. Martine I read the Sentinel article twice over and got a great deal of understanding out of it..
Thanks for forwarding the article. It’s most helpful.
Thank you Evan for this early mornings thoughts. A precious way to begin the day.

  2. Thanks so much Martine, so helpful in overcoming worldly beliefs. So grateful for this web site and early morning spiritual views.

    1. I loved this post this morning, and had to chuckle when I reached the end of the comments and “Barbara” had said exactly what I was thinking. So, lots of love to all this morning, from another Barbara.

  3. As always the articles offered by SpiritView readers are wonderful and I appreciate their vast knowledge of articles. thanks again.

  4. It is 5 Am in Vancouver, WA. I was awake at 2:33, meditating and praying. Then I visited with God. And the Almighty answered me with thunder and lightening and heavy rain. AMAZING GRACE!!!
We in the Pacific Northwest were so desperate for rain, the sinking of smoke, and fires extinguished. So grateful. Prayer brought our air quality from a dangerous level 500 on Sunday night to 350 on Thursday. Now we will have clean air and the migrating birds can be healthy and happy as they fly over us.
    GRATEFUL.

  5. Many thanks for the update on rain in the Pacific Northwest. I’ve been praying for rain to extinguish the fires. A great blessing is the news of rain.

    1. We are grateful for your prayers, David!
I know Evan was working on this, too.
      Grateful for everyone’s prayers!
We went from having “the worst air quality in the world” on Sunday night with thousands of migrating birds dying to
today that we can go for a walk for the first time all week. Grateful to the Almighty who is always listening.

      1. Update as of 11:37 AM: Our air quality in Vancouver came down to 150 and is now
70 with 50 being clean air. Still need double masks to walk, but at least I can get out. There is so much heavy rain in the mountains of OR that they are in danger of land slides, We have light rain in Vancouver. Let’s pray to lighten the rain up in the mountains of OR and WA states. GRATEFUL!!!

  6. Once again we are linked to a wonderful article. Thank you Martine.
What a blessing to see the result of prayer in the update of the weather in the Pacific Northwest.
How true is the last line of our lesson sermon this week…’Spirit and all its formations are the only realities of being.’ S&H pg264 This must always be our inspiration, to turn from sense to Soul every step of the way. Thank you for this inspiration today Evan❣️
This comment from yet another Barbara.!

  7. How grateful to know that our shared consecrated thought brings healing- rain, restoration, health, joy, inspiration – and a deeper, more profound expression of Love’s total power. We all can unite to shift the world’s depression (including regurgitating “news.” Why aren’t they calling it what it is: “Olds.” Let’s dump the ”olds” and put on, instead the True Good News- our Gospel!

    1. Annie, I love what you said about “Olds” and the “True Good News…our Gospel”. For a long time I have yearned for good news and wondered why more news people did not give us good news and then, just lately, it came to me, “Why yes! We have the channel of only good news. It is Christian Science!”
So grateful for this Science…the only Science! Thank you, dear Evan, for your daily communiques and thank you to everyone who participates.

  8. Once again “what blesses one, blesses all” thanks to this wonderful blog and its friends. Thanks also to Ms Helen Wood Bauman who was a wonderful writter for the periodicals.
So glad for the rain and the shower of blessings it brings.

  9. What a beautiful visual representation of the ability of our thoughts to soar in the heights of Mind. How incredibly freeing it is to know that all we are ever really dealing with is thought. And our thought is always free to move and soar to the kingdom of God, ever present and eternal. What Joy!
I’ll never forget reading an article several years ago in the sentinel about a woman who was dealing with a serious physical condition and her line of attack ended up being that joy is ever present, all powerful and inevitable. She decided and thought that she could not lose her joy. She started exclaiming out loud, loudly “What joy! What joy! What joy!” The more she did it the more she truly felt it and was healed. I tried this yesterday on my wooded walk with my dog, and it worked!

  10. Today’s topic reminds me of hymn#64, “From sense to Soul my pathway lies before me, From mist and shadow into Truth’s clear day… The way leads upward and its goal draws nearer thought soars enraptured, fetter less and free: the vision infinite to me grows clearer, I touch the fringes of eternity”.
Looking at the news and everything through a Spiritual lens, we see truths being brought out in ways that are positive and our awareness helps bring us and the world, from sense to Soul, God ~ Love’s unifier in Truth. News doesn’t have to be depressing, when those sharing it are presenting positive solutions.
So glad to hear of the rain, Lisa! Good news!

  11. Thank you Lisa in Vancouver for your consecrated prayers. I think we have attended Association together in Portland in past years. Good to hear from you.

  12. Thank you Evan for helping us get our thoughts soaring and get a “SpiritView”! And thanks to every one who commented and to Martine and Trista for the links to helpful articles. Most grateful. (=

  13. Whose “record of dreams?” I know it not!

How precious, Angie, is the 1955 Journal article you’ve just posted here! It challenges [removes] the whole ‘blameworthy’ concept of our only present identity: “It is well to know, dear reader, that our material mortal history is but the record of dreams, not of man’s real existence.” (Retrospection and Introspection p.21)

And a recent teacher wrote: “The so-called dream is fictitious mortal mind’s upside down view of that which really exists as the omniscience of Mind. Mind does not dream, it knows. There is NO mortal history in Mind, and this is your Mind now. There is ONE Mind and all true being is the divine consciousness—the one ‘I’ saying AM—which we call the Ego. All that has truth or life or love has it because it is God saying I AM: this is ME. Mortal mind is a term, not a state, and it is used to designate that which is nothing. Remember that “Love never loses sight of loveliness” (S&H 248″3) That is, I cannot lose sight of what I AM.”

  14. For many years I have attended musical events with a small group of friends. Early on they learned I was a Christian scientist and knew from me what it was but it was never much spoken of. However when any problem came up of course I silentley turned to Spiritual sense and knew the presence of harmony. I don’t remember what problem arose on one occasion but quickly all was well. At that point a friend said “Have you noticed when Marge is with us everything always works out?”

  15. “spiritually minded is life und peace” …
Thank you very much, dear Evan, for this important, yet natural Truth given us by Mary Baker Eddy in SH
