Have you ever wondered about the future of Christian Science?
I address some of the concerns people have about where Christian Science is headed in an article published in the Christian Science Sentinel, June 23, 2025, titled, “Christian Science is here to stay.”

Following on from Evan’s observation of some of the early Greek belief systems,this is just like the belief in a “flat” earth in more recent times. Based on what presents to the material senses, humanity now knows not to rely on these same physical senses for truth. However, just as the once called “Flat Earth Society” continued to exist long after humanity had more generally accepted the truth about the earth, the solar system and our relationship to these, so there will continue to be those who insist that “Christian Science is shrinking…”. This is almost a direct echo of Mrs Eddy’s own sttement: “…the higher Truth lifts her voice, the louder will error scream, until its inarticulate sound is forever silenced in oblivion.” (S&H 97:22).
Although Evan has touched on the difference between “belief systems” and “eternal laws” and there is no start date for the latter, yet we discover them step-by-step. So this year marks 150years since the first publication of the Christian Science textbook which recorded these eternal laws in applicable form for humanity today.

Thank you Evan for an excellent article. The world would appear to be steeped in materialism…which can feel deeply unsettling and superficial – as with all things mortal/carnal/temporal. Also ever-changing and cyclical. I don’t necessarily see church closings as a sign that religion is dead. I see various religions alive and seemingly well with an online presence on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. There is definitely a wonderful sense of community here on SV. And Christian Science YouTube lectures reach thousands of people 24/7, compared to possibly a brick and mortar setting. The power of the Christ (an awareness of our inseparability from God) will always find a way to reach hungering hearts.
