The ideal time is a spiritual timing

“Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.

~ Ecclesiastes 11:4, NLT

There is no such thing as an ideal material circumstance. What appears to be materially right one day, may become very wrong the next day. Matter is never reliable. It’s a changing dream of a fickle and uncertain mortal mind.

Spirit, however, is always ideal. Its conditions are reliably good and certain.

To know when to act, seek out spiritual reality and understand its presence. Make decisions based upon spiritual conditions and God-governed circumstances. Then you’ll know what to do and when for the best results.

Spirit-inspired timing is the best timing.

  1. Thank you dear Evan for this “gem” … so very timely for me … have been feeling so powerless and stuck in the “how do I proceed from here” syndrome. Thankfully this “i” is not “me” nor is it the Mind that is all, Our true Mind and it’s Idea are not the filtered thru matter mirage of “a changing dream of a fickle and uncertain mortal mind.” [very clear 🙂 ]
Your post inspired me to look up these two quotes from S$H:
    SH 513:27
So-called mortal mind — being non-existent and consequently not within the range of immortal existence — could not by simulating deific power invert the divine creation, and afterwards recreate persons or things upon its own plane, since nothing exists beyond the range of all-inclusive infinity, in which and of which God is the sole creator.
    SH 573:3
The Revelator was on our plane of existence, while yet beholding what the eye cannot see, — that which is invisible to the uninspired thought..

  2. Thanks so much, Evan! And Fay! Any would-be existence outside of God’s perfection isn’t perfectible, so don’t let the sunshine fool you. There is no ideal time because mortal mind invented time as a venue for things to go wrong. The tiger of time can’t change its stripes. But in God’s light, we see light.

  3. Thank you everyone this is very timely! I’ve been working with this recently in thinking about changes and if, when, or not at all- they need to be made. Also in planning a couple of trips, anxious thoughts tried to creep in but when I calmed down and let God do the talking, everything about the initial arrangements came out harmoniously. I am continuing to know God is taking care of everything in my life – Just be quiet and listen!

  4. Yes, I’ve learned to Listen to gentle nudging, to that very quiet intuition, to a felt sense, to the leadings and learnings that arise so naturally from within. It is these leadings and learnings that draw us into God’s rich plan for us! Thank you for this Gift we’ve been given!

  5. Sometimes I have moments where I am more acutely aware of how much I listen to mortal mind, almost unconsciously. I find myself anxious, expecting something unpleasant, and nothing is happening. I remind myself nothing is happening and to look spiritually. Even the old thoughts have no validity however they may have seemed valid years before. I hope to rest more in the truth each day.
    thank you

  6. What a peaceful thought, and a lift.
Let, wait for, spiritual thinking to reveal the way to proceed. I struggle to handle the down time, disappointment, or disturbance after expecting something to happen, which I am learning is mortal mind. When letting spiritual guidance reveal how to proceed, wonderful experiences occur. Lessons are being learned to continue to think spiritually, which I am grateful to learn.

  7. Wonderful… it’s all in the timing! I’ve always told my Sunday school students that God is the only one who can see around the corner. That sentiment addresses both future events in our lives as well as their timing.

  8. This is the perfect message for me today, learning patience and trust in Father-Mother God’s disposition of events.

  9. Listening to God and not being swayed by thoughts of pressure—what am I going to do?—does bring the right result. A few months ago we were to attend a family wedding in Hawaii, and I was feeling very pressured about what to wear. It seemed that nothing was right. One night, as the time was drawing near when we would be leaving for Hawaii, I felt particularly pressured. I put those thoughts out of my mind, and turned to our Father. I felt calm. Suddenly the words came, “Look in the bottom drawer of the chest.” I got up, and did what I was told. There in the bottom was a dress I got years ago, and was absolutely perfect! I had all the accessories to go with it, including shoes. Wow—I was thrilled and dressed up in it immediately to show my husband! It was perfect. Oh, we can trust in our Father-Mother for the answers!

  10. Thank you Evan and all. Late one afternoon at work my boss dictated a letter he said he would ask for the next morning while meeting with a visiting executive. I had the letter (and the onion skin copy) on my desk the next morning while working with a number of personnel folders when he asked for letter. It was nowhere to be found. He said to just bring it in when I found it. I panicked! (That was 50 years ago before computers.)
Then this verse came to me: “Trust in the Lord with all thy heart and lean not unto thine own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy path.” I calmed down, put my elbows on the desk and my head in my cupped hands, eyes closed, praying when my boss came out again. He asked if I was OK and I said oh yes, I’m just looking for the letter. He said to bring it in when I found it. While in panic mode I had already looked in all the personnel files I could remember but now, all of a sudden I was “told” to go to another file and there was the letter.
When I took the letter in to my boss (only about 5 minutes after he had been at my desk) he thanked me and said after the meeting he wanted me to tell him how I found the letter with my eyes closed.

  11. Thank you very much Evan, that you show us in a loving way, why to choose spiritual thinking, acting and living! Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health: “All is Spirit and all is spiritual. From this standpoint you must work it out. Matter cannot help you.”
“Spirit-inspired time is the best timing” – thanks, that`s so very good and the healing way and absolute true, and why, because God, divine Love is Spirit Himself and the great Healer for ever!

  12. I learnt through stress, doubts and struggle too to trust Divine Love will provide the truth that will free me and it always has met my needs. Now I just enjoy at the genius ways including the ahas and hilarious moments Divine Love can do it with me. Thanks Evans for your inviting blog where you welcome keep the conversation going that is so helpful to me to see new perspective and new ideas.
