The pursuit of Truth

Everyone is in pursuit of Truth.

The software engineer seeks the best way to make his programs work. The caring cook seeks the best way to prepare her meals. The aspiring teenager seeks a path to happiness. The empty-nester wonders, “What’s next?” after the children are gone. Athletes aspire to improve their game. The aging wonder, “Is there something more than this mortal existence?” Many ponder, “What’s the purpose of my life?” At the bottom of all seeking is a search for some type of truth. And the ultimate Truth of all things is God, Spirit!

For the human mind, seeking Truth may feel like taking a long road trip to a destination thousands of miles away. On the trip, there may be many stops, side trips and detours, and even wrong turns. A weary traveler might be tempted to think, “I’ve gone far enough!” and want to give up going further. But in the end the destination must be reached, for a feeling of completeness and success will not settle in until it is.

The same rule applies to the pursuit of Truth. The human mind often thinks it has found truth in a temporal human condition, such as financial success, a happy relationship, or a peaceful setting. But anything of a temporal nature, is well, temporal! It will come up short in the long run, and the quest begins anew. Pursuit of final Truth in Spirit will surpass all other pursuits.

God is the ultimate Truth! Matter is not. Mortal existence is not. Material conditions are not. God is here to be discovered, experienced and expressed now.

You don’t need to go on a “long road trip,” to find Truth. You don’t need to expend time and energy with fruitless stops, side trips and detours along the way. You can take a direct route to Truth. God is present to be experienced to the fullest! Seek and find.

  1. Dear Evan, what a timely and most universally needed piece. This is what so many people want to hear and establish. In my experience, many have asked this question, “What is Truth and where and how can I, do I, find it?”. Of course, it can only be found in the Absolute All of all being, God. It’s a journey we all need to undertake, but the Truth is also something we innately know and have implanted in our spiritual DNA. It’s not alien to us. So the journey is also one of spiritual self discovery. In our path to finding the Truth, we find ourselves as God’s perfect, complete, Truth-based manifestation. We already have the full Truth within us as the primal and eternal gift from and of God. we are never outside the presence of Truth nor confused by anything that suggests a lie. We are all Truth… why because All Truth is our Creator and we are the full and complete manifestations of that infinitely perfect One. The All-in-all.
So, hurrah! for each of us – beautiful and cherished rays of Truth ☀️

  2. Wow…this is just perfect! I just completed a four day Bible course on Genesis and I have been thinking how the Bible characters did just that: search for Truth (maybe falling off the path now and then 🙂 but searching and finding in spite of detours. I’m deeply grateful for this blog. It is one of my daily reads. Have a beautiful week, mankind!

  3. As an engineer, seeking answers without the recognition of how valuable ‘truth’ is to the process is liken to blindingly crossing the railroad tracks without regard to the on coming train. It not a case, if you’ll be run over, it how soon and when it will happen. I believe, as you post, that Truth is also valuable in all of life experience as a banner under which we follow. It is the principle foundation of Life and when combined with divine Love, the wisdom of immortal experience.

  4. Seeking Truth is an ongoing endeavour!
Looking past the appearance to the underlying
Principle is a journey worth taking.

  5. I love the illustration that Evan selected to go with today’s wisdom shared. Just beneath the false surface appearance remains Truth which changes our focus from apparent lies to everpresent Reality, always here to be experienced!

    1. A big TY for bringing today’s illustration to my attention; it is worth sharing while dealing with a situation involving court, jury selection, trials by a court of law. Thinking of creating a 3D copy to visually explain exactly where TRUTH is.

Hope to see a light go on.

  6. So true! We don’t need to go any where, in fact I have learned n seen so many times how actually these so called great trips to be are nothing but a distraction from what divine Mind has put right in front of us, and usually the idea of trips comes exactly when we are so close to finding that truth, why? Because a distraction n detour will end up the inspiration n goodness God is bringing, even easily with all the matter arrangements needed before the trip.
This great quote has blessed me so much for protection to this false promises of a great trip by keeping spiritually awake:
“The serpent typifies evil and the snake will lie right beside (an individual) who is awake and never touch (him/her), but as soon as (he/she) falls asleep, it will attack” Beware of false promises n lies! And be Praise God

  7. I am God’s fool
    because I trust….
    I am God’s magician
    because I know
    all power comes
    from above….
    I am God’s High Priestess
    because I have memory
    of all time….
    I am God’s Emperor
    because God is
    my Mind

  8. So very inspiring, thank you Evan for today`s insights in your today`s gorgeous SpiritView!
It took me quite a long road trip with wrong side trips and detours until I found the right direction. I count one instance as a key happening to come closer again to Christian Science. It was when I was elected as clerk in my CS branch church in my 30th. I know very well that it was and still is God`s loving and tender guidance to progress in the love for and understanding of Christian Science and Church – thank you God!
With relation to the last paragraph of today`s SV, that we can take a direct route to Truth, I found two paragraphs from this week`s lesson sermon in Science and Health quite suitable :
    1) on page 90: 24-25: “The admission to one`s self that man is God`s own likeness sets man free to master the infinite idea.”
    2) on page 550:12 “The true sense of being and it`s eternal perfection should appear now, even as it will hereafter.”
Thank you all for your inspiring comments! : )

  9. Truth is that which IS. And so it must be what I Am.
“God is the creator of man, and, the divine Principle of man remaining perfect, the divine idea or reflection, man, remains perfect. Man is the expression of God’s being. If there ever was a moment when man did not express the divine perfection, then there was a moment when man did not express God, and consequently a time when Deity was unexpressed–that is, without entity. If man has lost perfection, then he has lost his perfect Principle, the divine Mind. If man ever existed without this perfect Principle, or Mind, then man’s existence was a myth.”

  10. It has never been touched, it has never left us for an instant. Focusing on the truth of our being, correct identification, prayer without ceasing.
