There is something you can do

“Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something.”

~ Author unknown

If you ever feel overwhelmed by a problem and don’t know what to do. There is something you can do! First, turn to God and listen for direction. The still small voice of wisdom will speak to you providing direction and insight that enables you to exercise dominion over the problem at hand and make a positive difference.

You don’t have to figure everything out all at once. That’s God’s job. Do what you can where you are, and that will be sufficient to prepare for what’s coming next.

  1. Yes, thanks Evan, I just did it tonight. I was led to open my email instead of doing my daily evening chores first. And by your blog the other day which I read a while back, I realized it answered my prayer for quite sometime but was persistent today to be shown which mistake was I ignoring.

  2. Yesterday, the thought of turning to God, to listen for His direction, flooded my thought, when my son announced he had been fired from his job. By evening, he was calling back to ask for a ride to work, (he works the night shift), because he was scheduled to work again; the store manager had retained him, and the shift manager agreed to a new solution instead of firing him. Turning to God, and listening for His direction, works in season and out of season. I am so grateful for this SV.

  3. Whew! Sometimes I get to thinkin’ I have to Run The Universe!

Thank You, God, for taking such loving care of me and mine and All.

    :<))

    1. Ha! I’m guilty of that too. How laughable that is and what a relief when we allow the Christ presence to turn us to understanding God’s all-power, all-presence, all-science. We can’t help but be so grateful to be released from that false burden.

  4. “Like the great Exemplar, the healer should speak to disease as one having authority over it, leaving Soul to master the false evidences of the corporeal senses and to assert its claims over mortality and disease.”
    SH 395:6-10

Your topic Evan and the posts reminds me of the above passage in a previous Bible lesson. Staying with God’s perspective of a perfect God and perfect man, we can leave …”Soul to master the false evidences….” not get the cart before the horse. Then without mortal ego in the picture, we can hear what action or steps to take to solve a problem as we are realizing that we are not alone.

    Thank you!

  5. The saying goes that when all else fails, pray. Prayer should be our first effort no matter what problems we’re facing. Thanks, Evan, for reminding us of what our priorities should be. And, thanks to everyone for your sharing.

  6. Thanks Evan.
This reminds me of a poem that was published decades ago in the magazine of the Canadian Red Cross society.

    “I am only one,
    but yet I am one.
    I cannot do everything,
but still I can do something.
    And so
I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.”

  7. Needed this reminder today. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding . . . . . . . . . and He will direct thy path.” So true. Joy, thank you for sharing the poem.

  8. Oh, dear Evan: How I needed that reminder today. No need to go into the need but your few sentences and those above gave me strength to change my negative thought and turn unreservedly to God in prayer. Thank you to all above, too.

It`s so important to listen to God`s guidance before acting; and am very grateful having the privilege to learn that in Christian Science.
