Treating yourself against relapse

June 7, 2022 | 12 comments

To a student wondering how to treat himself for a relapse of symptoms, Mary Baker Eddy wrote,

“When, if ever, you have a return of your complaints, fix your mind steadfastly on this thought: No mortal mind, or malice, can affect my mind or body. Be strong in that consciousness of Truth, and if you gain the point of conviction of its truth, and the perception that it was a directed shaft of mortal mind, you will destroy the suffering” (Christian Healer, Amplified Ed., p. 228).

In the omnipotence of God, there is only Truth and Love everywhere to be seen, felt, and experienced. A return of something that never existed in the first place is impossible.

For healing, stay focused on the real and the true!

  1. Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

After praying with these verses my mind completely shifted and that was the end of years of relapse of sinusitis. Thank you Evan for : ” A return of something that never existed in the first place is impossible.” I am so very grateful for this blog.

  2. Thank you Evan. This reminded me of a Sentinel Radio program (link below) during which Keith Womack told of a relapse experience he had. The practitioner he was working with asked him if he’d “ever been to Moscow”. He responded “No”. The practitioner then told him “if you’ve never been there then you can’t return”. And that broke the “relapse mesmerism”.

  3. Thank you, Evan! Am also very comforted by your last Paragraph, I.e. in the omnipotence of God there is only Truth and Love everywhere to be seen , felt and ecperienced.
And specially assuring is the following Truth you give us, which is so convincing, namely that “a return of something that newer existed in the first place is impossible” so as error that never existed in God’s infinite spiritual realm!♡

For this SpiritView I had to click on “newer” of yesterday’s SpiritView. Thank you very much for your healing and inspiring blog!♡

    1. Yes THANKS TO EVAN for sharing Mary Baker Eddy’s powerful statement!
And Thanks to Uta and all of you for your affirmations
of the Truth that if something never happened in the first place, then we cannot return to it.
And it can’t show up at our door of consciousness to try to convince us that it is real– not the first time. Not the second time! — This is so helpful

  4. Thank you Evan, this is very good, “A return of something that never existed in the first place is impossible.”

Progress is the law of God. In S&H (p. 74) Mrs. Eddy says: “In Christian Science there is never a retrograde step, never a return to positions outgrown.” It is encouraging to realize this.

    Love to all!

  5. Thank you so much, Evan. for these helpful thoughts, for this SpiritView blog posted every day and for all those who shared such inspiring words this morning! What a blessing! I’m grateful!!!

  6. Thank you all for your comments this blog is my second wake up call in the morning . I am so very grateful Evan for the opportunity to participate and be a part of the blessings.

  7. Hi Evan. This just hit the target today it was a great wake up call for me. Thank you so very much

  8. Thank you, Evan! A Sunday School teacher years ago used to tell us: “When you have gained your freedom from a challenge through a healing, nail that coffin shut with the belief, and the belief of the experience inside the coffin to keep it shut.” (No rehearsals, no revisits, no returns).
