Understanding God is key to success in life

November 9, 2020 | 37 comments

Understanding God is at the root of all genuine success in life.

To understand God is to feel and know the presence of love.

To understand God, is to find a place to turn for wisdom, intelligence, and inspiration under any circumstances.

To understand God is to find real health that endures, that doesn’t go up and down according to the sensation of the moment, but sticks.

To understand God is to feel safe and secure, to walk away from the anxieties and fears of human belief and find bona fide security in the omnipresence of Love.

To understand God is to never fear lack, for with God, there is always a supply to meet the need of the moment.

To understand God is to find spiritual mindedness that brings blissful peace.

To understand God is to find rest for weary thoughts.

To understand God is to find wealth and riches that are forever yours.

To understand God is to find the source of real happiness.

To understand God is to discover one’s purpose.

To understand God is to understand how the universe works.

To understand God is to find Life that is forever.

To understand God is to understand anything and everything there is worth understanding.

Understanding God is the key to real success in life. Money is spent, time is past, mortals end, material things vanish like vapor, mortal existence becomes as nothing, but God lasts forever.

God is All. There isn’t anything else to know that is worth knowing.

  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you Evan! This is a beautiful , simple yet utterly complete treatment. These ideas just flow from you . I wonder if you realise how much Truthful clarity you make available for me as I daily strive to experience Divine Love in this existence. Ever grateful❣️

  2. Beautifully put together Evan. Its excellent!
I am a Librarian in the city reading room in Sydney, Will it be alright with you if i
have this printed poster size for our window?
It says a lot for our community to read
and embrace. Looking forward to your response.
    With gratitude
    Stella

  3. Window-worthy, fridge-worthy !! Yes, yes, and The Eternal Yes, The Universal Yes. Joyfully grateful for this.

  4. Understanding God is a life long journey. In this human experience we can feel discouraged if we don’t know all there is to understanding God. I like to refer to the image of the mustard seed. If we know or understand just a little about God and depend on the little we know, we can meet challenges that come our way. And if we don’t seem to meet those challenges we don’t have to feel inept in our ability to know or trust in God. We don’t have to be so very hard on ourselves demanding that we understand everything now. We can depend on the little that we do know and trust.

    1. Amen to your writing about knowing and trusting the little we do know.
Just offered an item to recycle for anyone who want/needs this item. The response included an offer, to accept other items if any were available, or to work for pay if there were any jobs I needed done. This was an answer to a need, after another underemployed person had stepped aside from working on specific projects/needs I had waiting to be done. I was willing to pay the first person, now another person has offered, after the first one bowed out. I’m waiting to learn more from the 2nd offer, to explore what skills/experience/ideas they bring to accomplish the work. Trusting and knowing God is a JOY!

        1. Seriously, NO, but thanks for asking, I was a counselor in Ohio, with the code/counselor name GOLDIE, in the 1960’s. What a hoot, don’t know “chile”, but now ‘chile’ in my name is in honor of green chile grown here in New Mexico. What a fun exchange, the ‘sands’ represents the desert surrounding me.

    2. Nancy, I like the way you expressed that thought. A little understand of God does go a long way. And as David said, we have just the right understanding to meet our current needs, enough for today.

It is comforting to be reminded that we don’t have to be hard on ourselves or think we don’t know “enough.” Only error would try to tempt us with that erroneous thought. We can trust that God, Love, is bringing to us every moment exactly what may seem to be missing.

  5. It’s going to take eternity to understand infinity. Right now we have the understanding to serve our immediate need. It is proved out every day.
The future belongs to God. We belong to God. We also belong to one another in our reach for this ultimate understanding of Life. Thank you all for sharing each morning this accumulation of right ideas. It brightens my morning and leads me in the right way.
Evan, thanks again for sharing your understanding.
    Happy Monday everyone!

    1. David,

The future belongs to God. So assuring, direct, simple it brought tears to my eyes. It also made me realize I certainly have not been thinking about the “future” correctly; too much fear and apprehension about supply, work, home, decision making, etc. I plan to write your five words on post it notes and stick them up where I will see them often. Thank you for sharing this needed idea!
      Susan

  6. Thank you Evan for that clear picture of how understanding God Helps us everyday. So powerful. Thank you Nancy for the reminder
That we don’t have to feel inept if we don’t understand God completely right now. So blessed by this family of loving ideas.

    1. Understanding God is the: “Peace is yours, if you live in the now.” God is All.(MBE). Thank you SpiritView friends.
EVAN your thoughts are a welcome start of each day…
      …a real “present.”

  7. Thank you so, so much, Evan, for these clear statements of Truth that both anchor and inspire. So beautiful and powerful. I hope to see them in a Sentinel or Journal soon!

  8. This was REALLY nice! I struggle with the word “understand” but this says I check most of the boxes! Thank you, Evan!

  9. Thank you, wonderful, right on. I just finished reading the whole chapter of Genesis in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy to go with last weeks lesson. I got such a firm understanding of what God is and does..

  10. Each day I am especially grateful to learn a little more…in our eternal quest to understand Infinity!

I want to express, also, my deepest APPRECIATION for Evan. It’s one thing to do the work Evan does; it’s quite another to write fresh, inspiring, daily ideas on which his SpiritView’s community may expand as we contemplate the day’s concept which Evan has presented.
Yes, we are SO grateful to have been given the greatest gift of all, Christian Science, which tells us who God is, who we are, and provides an abundance of opportunities to share this with the world.
    Endless Blessings !
    Love

  11. It will be appreciated on the fridge and in the reading room window by passers-by. Imagine, too, how lovely the words would be in a beautifully illustrated book. And best of all – the impact of these words will fill the world as they are lived, as we live them.

    Thanks for the fill-up Evan.

  12. Thank you Evan for this Monday morning inspiration! Such a clear exposition of the total sense of completeness that we can find only in an apprehension and understanding of God. This is a keeper,- and so appreciated!
I also love how Mary Baker Eddy expounds on understanding God in Unity of Good, pages 1 through 7. In this she explains on page 3, “God is All-in-all. Hence, He is in Himself only, in His own nature and character, and is perfect being, or consciousness. He is all the Life and Mind there is or can be. Within Himself is every embodiment of Life and Mind.”…….”He is near to them who adore Him. To understand Him, without a single taint of our mortal, finite sense of sin, sickness, or death, is to approach Him and become like Him.”

  13. I have never commented before. But I am so struck by this beautiful and clear presentation of truth! Thank you Evan!

    1. Thank you for your prayer for America, Richard. Our dear Mary has the most wonderful short essay on unity in My.164-65. She calls unity “the bond of perfectness, the thousandful expansion that will engirdle the world…” Later she says, “This unity is reserved wisdom and strength.”

  14. Dear Evan, and commenters…so appreciated! Everyday I open Spiritview and am so thankful to learn a bit every day, bit by bit, piece by piece, I am confident that I will keep getting there. That there is no going back, there is no place to go back, I can’t lose the understanding I’ve gained. I’m so grateful!

  15. Thank you very much dear Evan.
How much do I need this today and this evening and always!
For instance: “to understand God is to never fear lack, for with God there is always a supply to meet the need of the moment” – so wonderfully comforting! ♡
This SpiritView is really a keeper. It shows us who God is and what He does .
What a loving treat, it brings us so near to the loving, caring God, all Good- thanks so very much Evan ♡

  16. Thank you Evan. Especially loved, “God is all. There isn’t anything else to know that is worth knowing.” That is so pure and absolute. It reminds me of the words from the hymn that was shared here last week on Nov. 5, “God Is– this is enough to know.”

Sending Love to all SpiritView family!. I appreciate each one of you, those who comment from their heart, those who just read along and grow, those who share articles, quotes, hymns, these are all expressions of Love and Unity. It is a blessing.

  17. That would also be my question, because it is too much paper than. Want also to have one piece of paper to read without the picture.
    Could anyone help please?

    1. Place mouse at start of printed area and drag to end. This will highlight. Then right click for Copy and paste onto new document. Save.
      Brilliant Spiritview!!

  18. Evan, thanks for wonderful and awesome inspiration!! I love to ponder and park my thought on the infinite power of God’s allness and our spiritual understanding which are the solid foundation and eternal rock of our being. With God all things are possible!!
