Waste no time with worry

May 5, 2023 | 25 comments

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows; it empties today of its strength.

~ Corrie Ten Boom

Rather than worry, trust God. God always has an answer. God always has a solution.

When we trust God’s ever-present help, we worry less, and finds answers quicker!

  1. Love this. Have already shared SpiritView.
I have read her books, and saw the movie,
The Hiding Place. She and her sister were
put in prison during the German Revolution.
They learned first hand, they were with God.
One instance was when Corrie was very
afraid, and her sister said, Don’t be afraid, the
guards will not come into our cell because
    of the lice.
    Thanks Evan.

    Thanks Evan.

  2. Well, ii don’t know that anything can empty today of its strength. Maybe our BELIEF in its strong potential. That wonderful first sentence in Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy sums up exactly what we have to rely on for strength today: “To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings.” Sustaining INFINITE? God, Love, Truth, almighty good? Sustaining all of us?
    What’s more worry-curing than THAT?

  3. There is an old song which has the words: Why worry? why worry?
worry gets you nowhere at all”. That is so true.

If we find ourselves worrying, we can remember that we have God
with us upholding us every moment, and if we are tempted to worry
we may have forgotten that fact. As we do remember that, we can
immediately turn to God for the answer to every challenge, and let
Him take care of each situation. If we trust in God we will feel safe
and secure every moment, and we needn’t worry what tomorrow
will bring, for we can know it can only be good, because God is Love,
and God is good, and supplies only good for us all now, and tomorrow,
and forever. So why worry? Tossing out the suggestion of worry will
keep us and take us everywhere safely forever.

God is good – good is our God. Our God is Love – Love is our God.

    1. Thanks Maggie, your comment about letting God take care of every situation made me think of a customer I met a few years ago while working as a sales associate in a large department store. She had such a glow and radiance about her, she stood out from many of my other customers. I had to ask, “You look so joyful, what is your secret?” Without hesitation she smiled and pointed upward saying, “I let Him take care of any problems, I don’t worry about anything, just give it all to Him.” I was delighted to hear this, she made my day.

We often forget that we actually don’t possess a mind that can think worrisome thoughts, because those type of thoughts don’t appear in divine Mind, our only Mind.

      1. That’s a lovely example, Rose -thank you. Being open about our trust in God and
being joyful as a result, shines out a light to all, doesn’t it.

  4. “I had been afraid to get up in the morning because of what had happened yesterday and then afraid to go to bed at night because of what might happen tomorrow when I got out of bed. But this angel message was telling me to stop all these yesterday and tomorrow thoughts….”

  5. I sometimes write down quotes that I find helpful. Regarding worry:

“Worry implies that we don’t quite trust that God is big enough,
    powerful enough or loving enough
to take care of what is happening in our lives” ~ Francis Chan

    “When you feel you’re drowning in life’s situation … don’t worry …
    Your lifeguard walks on water”

“Worry is a conversation you have with yourself
about things you can not change,
Prayer is a conversation you have with God about
    things He can change”.

“Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday”.

… and there used to be a song, “Don’t worry, Be Happy” : )

      1. Thank you, Heather. I had not heard that song in ages, but remembered
the “Don’t worry, Be Happy” part.

  6. Thank you Evan. Easy to say, why worry, waste no time for worries.
In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy 135:17 There is to-day danger of repeating the offence of the Jews by limiting the Holy One of Israel and asking; “Can God furnish a table in the Wilderness?” What cannot God do?

  7. So many wonderful thoughts shared today– ideas we can go to and hang on to when we are tempted to worry or fret…. Our Leader instructs us beautifully with this well-beloved citation : ”The Psalmist saith: “He shall give His angels charge over thee.” God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment. What a glorious inheritance is given to us through the understanding of omnipresent Love! More we cannot ask: more we do not want: more we cannot have. This sweet assurance is the “Peace, be still” to all human fears, to suffering of every sort.”
(Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 306:29)
    Peace be with you all
    Love

  9. Another day of such wonderful thoughts , inspiration and articles…thank you everyone. And thank you Evan for continually feeding us with the Truth of Divine Mind. This is such a loving arena…the revealing that upholds and ensures healing.

“Say to those who have an anxious heart, ‘Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.’ ”….Isaiah 35;4
    Have a lovely weekend ❣️

  10. I’m running a bit behind on my spiritview. I just read yesterday’s this morning. So this is in response to David Brandon‘s post yesterday. I’ve always found your many comments over the years to be helpful and insightful. Thank you for them. Your comment about waiting for healing caught my eye. I know we’ve all prayed and waited for healing. Sometimes I find it helpful to consider that there is really nothing to be healed and thus nothing to “wait” for. Dan Jensen has some marvelous talks posted online. One can be found on the Ardenwood site. I think you may enjoy it. It is about keeping good models in thought.

  11. A grateful heart a temple is
a shrine so pure and white
Where angels of His presence keep
Calm watch by day or night. HYmn #3
Thanks for all the lovely thoughts

  12. Thank you, Gregg ~ this talk was good and the flowers and scenery,
beautiful and your birdhouse project, very caring, David.
I found one of the most simplest but yet most informative
examples in the talk is about the train tracks and the three approaches
to it. After everyone looking and agreeing the tracks converge off in a
distance, with everyone agreeing they come together, the three
choices are: 1. Collect one’s bags and go home, because it wouldn’t
be Safe to ride on the tracks. 2. Realize this is just an illusion and a
false belief that Appears real, but isn’t and proceed on to the train or
    3. Have a prayer meeting by the tracks to help “heal” the tracks. This
was a very good way of getting the point across and illustrated so
easily how we can be misled into believing something is true, or worry
about something, when the false picture is misleading and not true.

    1. Carol, I loved the train track analogy as well from that talk. I thought it really helped to emphasize that we are not trying to “heal“ an illusion. I also thought his description of the treatment of the man with the screw in his eye really made clear that we are not trying to remove a screw or cancer or whatever the problem may appear to be, but that the truth –
that a spiritual idea of God contains not a single element of error – removes not an actual condition, but the belief of the problem from thought.

    1. Thank you for sharing this excellent lecture with us J . I love where Mrs. Eddy
writes, ” … keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease
and death cannot enter them. It is plain that nothing can be added to the
mind already full.” This corresponds to a thought of inspiration that I have
      read where it says,
“An entire sea of water can’t sink a ship unless it gets inside the ship.
Similarly, the negativity of the world can’t put you down unless you allow
it to get inside you.” (that is … your/our thoughts).
No harm can enter a mind filled with God’s Love and this Truth sets us
free. Lovely healing messages within this lecture. Thank you again.

      1. So good Carol, thank you. And really love the ship analogy, which is very helpful and a gives a great visual as it pertains to your/our thoughts.

        1. Thoughts lifting higher into heaven’s view,
          Spirit’s view …
          God’s beauty, power and grace.

          Happy Sunday Everyone!
