What to do if you made a mistake

January 23, 2019 | 21 comments

The Sentinel Podcast for this week is a recording I made recently with the Sentinel. It’s titled, “How to erase the effects of a mistake.”

You can listen to it online without being a subscriber for one week. If you’re a subscriber to
jsh-online.com, you can listen to it anytime.

The intro begins

Have you ever thought, “I wish I hadn’t done that”? Even though we all make mistakes, and hopefully learn from them, sometimes the end result of our actions seems to be a problem that can’t be fixed. On today’s Sentinel Watch, our guest will talk about how an understanding of God and His love for us—as God’s spiritual image—provides a powerful basis for progress and healing that can erase the impact of any of our mistakes and help to prevent future ones.

  1. This is well worth listening to if you have not done so already! A great demonstration of Christian Science!

Thank you, dear Evan, for all that you contribute!

  2. Evan, this was a wonderful podcast. I especially loved your story about the radio interview and thought about it yesterday when I thought I had made aistake…and yes, it did turn out well…thank you for sharing all of your inspired ideas and your experiences.

  3. I would also like to thank you so very much for this interview ! I listened to it yesterday. It is awsome and of such comfort and help. Thank you for letting your light shine so brightly!

  4. Awesome AND practical! This covers both sins of commission and omission!
And one of the most comforting poems about this (and one I have used so often that the paper is opaque!) is “Man has made no mistake” by Peter Henniker Heaton. Here’s the last lines:

“Why did I do it?” Let this cry now cease.
    Man has made no mistake, nor ever erred;
He walks with God in paths of joy and peace.
All that we long for even now is present.

  5. I also listened to it yesterday and found it very comforting and reassuring. Many thanks for sharing your experiences, Evan.

So, in reality, if we are the reflection of God, how could we possibly make a mistake if God never makes one. If we seem to have made one, if we turn to God in prayer, as Evan did, we can trust that He will take control and free us from self-condemnation and bring harmony to light.

  6. Totally awesome podcast! Let us know if there are more….Loved the interview story, such a great realization of “God with us”. Thank you!

  7. Gulp!

    Who DOESN’T goof up sometimes?
Even our precious Evan! And what a great exampling of how one can disentangle
one’s snarls! Thank you soooo much, sweet guide!

    :<))))

  8. Yes it’s a wonderful podcast, I’ve a,ready listened to it 3 times and emailed it to friends and family! Bless you Evan for all you do to help us on our spiritual journey!

  9. Thank you Evan. I also found this on JSH-Online last night and enjoyed listening to it. What I notice with all of Evan’s interviews and lectures is the infectious joy he expresses. I often wonder if by the end of the day Evan’s sides hurt from laughing throughout the day from pure joy. You are a wonderful ambassador for Christian Science Evan. Thanks for all you do in helping people learn about the Christ Science that leads them to a joy filled life as you express so well.

  10. I just finished listening to the podcast. I’m so grateful that I took the time and completed the whole thing. The radio station visit. Was so inspiring . Claiming your spiritual perfection and how you did this were most helpful.. it was wonderful being with you through each moment you were going through the radio ordeal! Then Bingo you
got your healing! Appreciate your sharing
    this. Thank you.

  11. Thanks, Evan! I haven’t listened to it, yet…..But I just wanted to Thank You for being a True Blue Christian Scientist that has the Loving Spirit to embrace ALL in Love and to not get caught up in the dogma and/or orthodoxy of the Religion. We need more CSers like YOU! Much Love, Bevi

  13. Thank you dear Evan and thank you dear Sentinel team for this wonderful podcast.
Oh that is so helpful and healing. Healing in so far that I know I can forgive myself for lots of wrongdoings in the past. And God enables me to forgive myself – isn`t that such a healing thought!?
Thank you Evan for sharing your wonderful healing with gas pump and your adventure with the unprepared studio interview – What gorgeous Healings – and as you laughed about that so heartily, it was so contagious that I could not but tune into your laughing so very much and I felt lots of love. It helped me to overcome fearful thoughts I just had, because somebody I love just asked me “how are you doing”. And I was not sure that I am doing so well as hoped by that friend.
Evan, your podcast was such a revelation, how much God loves loves loves us!
It isn`t the last time I listened to your podcast interview, as there are so many
comforting and uplifting thoughts uttered by you – thank you so much for this special SpiritView today!!

  14. After listening to your pod cast, I found immediate applications which I shared with my son. At 5 am this morning, a text message arrived, “I love you” back from him. Healing moment here, was the proof that he felt the love communicated to him from God, and shared that love in return. Thank you Evan, for sharing your podcast of the moment of true healing after “recording” the radio station interview.
