Which direction are you headed

May 1, 2025 | 15 comments

Are you seeking material goals or spiritual goals?  Which shall it be?

Material goals make a priority of seeking things of the world like money, power, prestige, status, and stuff you store in your closet.

Spiritual goals seek inspiration, truth, love, wisdom, feeling close to God, and ideas that keep thought in a heavenly healthy place.

To seek spiritual goals does not mean you will lack money, not have a place to live, or things you need to take care of your family.  Not true!  As Jesus promised, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” (Matt. 6:32).  When thought is singing and soaring with Truth and Love, career, family, relationships, supply, all flow so much better.

Seek the things of Spirit first.  The rest will come as appropriate to the need of the moment.

Heading in a spiritual direction keeps you heading in the best direction.

  1. The very best of ideas to carry around in your head all day long. My mantra to keep me save and happy through out my busy day.

  2. That is lovely, Evan .. “Spiritual goals seek inspiration, truth, love, wisdom, feeling close
to God and ideas that keep thought in a heavenly, healthy place” …. That keeps thought
singing and smiling! It is the spiritual – that comforts our soul.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all
ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths” – Proverbs 3: 5-6
A Lovely day to all today!

  3. or ….”stuff you store in your closet!”

Who can’t relate to this…stuff! A common experience, I imagine: how it is that spiritual growth brings on the desire to toss all the “stuff” no longer needed! After 50 years in this house (and consciousness!!!) there is a lot to toss. Gladly! Gleefully! Gratefully!! Have At It, divine Principle! I am trusting You!!

    Love, S

    1. Your comment made me smile, dear SpiritViewFan. It is a wonderful
feeling to unload things we don’t need that others may be able to use.
Where I used to live, I had a tag sale. People came and looked but
didn’t buy one thing. I wheelbarrowed it down to the main road, put
a free sign on it and heard at 3 in the morning, someone taking it all and
every last of it was gone. It is like unloading baggage of mortal thinking
that we don’t need. It is refreshing to know it is not needed. Only
      Spirit thinking is.

  4. Just browes through our Christian Science hymnal book and found hymn 58 comforting and promissing:

    1st verse
    Father, we thy loving children
Lift our hearts in joy today,
Knowing well that Thou wilt keep us
    Ever in Thy blessed way.
Thou art Love and Thou art wisdom,
    Thou art Life and Thou art All;
    In Thy Spirit living, moving
We shall neither fantastisch nor Fall.

    3rd verse
    In Thy house securely dwelling,
Where Thy children live to bless,
    Seeing only Thy creation,
    We can share Thy happiness,
Share Thy joy and spend it freely.
    Loyal hearts can feel no fear;
We Thy children know Thee, Father
    Love and Life forever near.

Thank you. dear Evan, for this loving and healing advice to see that we are on the right joyfull, spiritual Track. ♡

It’s just midnight and bedtime for a peaceful sleep. In Germany the 1st of May is always a holyday called “day of labor”.

    1. Thank You, Uta. I love the hymn you chose to share with us today. I didn’t
think the word, “fantastisch” was in the hymn, altho it is lovely word. LOL
(Spell correct did not like it just now, though). I think you had meant, “We
shall neither faint nor fall”. And with God as our comforter, we Shall neither
      faint nor fall.

      1. Dear Angel, fantastisch is a German word, and my smartphone chose this word on it’s own.
Of course it should be “faint” nor fall.
        LoL ❤️

  5. Thank you all for the “May Day” comments and your message, Evan. I had an experience today that proves the wise-ness of Seeking first the Kingdom of God. On the first of the month I go onto the Quicken program and the web to download all my banking information. There have been changes in Quicken and the Credit Union that made the process not work as usual. I had changed a password that Quicken never did accept it, though it told me it had been done and was a success. Nothing worked. What I exported from the bank was not accepted in Quicken and doing a download from Quicken did not work either. I was becoming very agitated with the whole process. Time to quit.

I stopped to get some lunch and petted the kitty who came to sleep in my lap. I read a great CS article on church and Sunday School growth and looking in the right direction for ideas. As I got done with that, I turned to the all-knowing God for direction. I went back to the computer and very systematically went to the Bank and all downloaded easily, and to the Credit Union and downloaded 3 accounts, but 1 at a time this time. Quicken had questions I was able to answer easily and the whole thing was done in a matter of a few minutes. Thank you, God. He really does supply ALL we need, no matter what it is.

    1. Thank you very much , dear Pat for your inspiring testimony! It is just very helpful for me to let God do.
I also had several times testimonies regarding issues on my computer. I stopped trying to solve it humanly in order to let God do, so that I could listen to God’s loving guidance!
Am thankful for you testimony! ♡

      1. Thank you Pat W. That is a wonderful testimony, I hope you will submit it to the CS periodicals. It is a healing that should be shared by all!!

  6. Thank you Evan, I am aways delighted when I turn on my computer and see your Spirit View among my emails! It is the first thing I read, as your inspiring ideas are clear and profound. It makes me so grateful for Christian Science, which is a way of life not just a religion. How blessed we are to have spiritual light to guide our path. Thanks again!
