Your "wonder" list?

A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the “Seven Wonders of the World.” Though there were some disagreements, the things that received the most votes were Egypt’s Great pyramids, the Taj Mahal, the Grand Canyon, the Panama Canal, the Empire State Building, St. Peter’s Basilica, and China’s Great Wall.

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student had not finished her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, “Yes, a little. I couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many.”

The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.”

The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the Seven Wonders of the World are to see, to hear, to touch, to taste, to feel, to laugh, to love.”

We often take the most important things in life for granted. Enamored by things and material objects, we overlook the faculties that give us access to life’s riches in the first place.

What about spiritual sense? What about spiritual reason, wisdom, and God? What about the ability to be spiritually content without a material wonder to credit for the peaceful feeling?

The grandeur of Life’s creations is so much more than anything that can be formed by mortal hands. The more we understand the real substance of the universe to be Mind, and not matter, the more we’ll honor the divine and be enthralled with its wonders which transcend anything the human eye has ever seen.

Putting Spirit’s presence at the top of our marvel list—now wouldn’t that be a wonder!
