If you’re ever tempted to seek a diagnosis of your health, seek a spiritual point of view! See what God sees. That will lead to the quickest healing of whatever you’re tempted to believe is wrong with you.
The temptation to seek a physical diagnosis is the product of believing man is a physical body with material health. But this is a misdiagnosis of reality. In Truth, man is a spiritual being reflecting a spiritual God that gifts man spiritual health.
The most accurate way to discern the truth about one’s health, is to examine it spiritually, to see what God sees and created in the first place.
Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “A physical diagnosis of disease — since mortal mind must be the cause of disease — tends to induce disease” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 370).
To retain good health, it’s wise to take actions that support good health and perpetuate it.
Examine yourself spiritually. See what God sees, and you’ll sooner find and retain the good health you’re seeking.
Seek your truth in Spirit, not in matter, and you’ll be happy with the healing results.

Hello Richard. not sure how best to reach you. My grandmother was Major of Eastbourne in 1966. The Queen visited Eastbourne in October 1966. Do you have any family/friends that may recall that visit? My real question….it seems that I may have heard that the Queen may have had an interest in Christian Science do you know anything about that? Will contact the church in Eastbourne. Good to get your message. I only moved to the new marina in Eastbourne in 2000 – previously living in another part of Sussex. Inteesting that your grandmother was mayor. Sadly the CS church in Eastbourne closed a couple of years ago. I used to collect Sentinel and other publications when passing on a weekend bike ride. (I’m Anglican but find CS thinking and online media most thought provoking. Spiritview Sentinel Watch etc. I’m not sure about The Queen and CS but she was certainly a profoundly Christian lady and sadly missed. I know that King Charles is most interested in spiritual healing. Always good to hear from California – used to spend a lot of time there when in the IT sector. Syl, I don’t know if the link I attached will work but if it does, you will find an article about the movie “The King’s Speech.” You asked about a possible CS with the Queen. Her father, King George V, was helped to overcome his stutter by an Australian named Lionel Logue. Mr. Logue was a Christian Scientist. He did not treat the King through CS, however. But as the article points out, he helped the King understand that the basis of his problem was fear. I hope this is helpful to you.

Mortal mind is constantly putting forth the need for material diagnoses, judging us by age, heredity — all in hopes of perpetuating the lie of life in matter and attempting to hold us into that dream.I find myself muting television commercials constantly to keep the thoughts being promoted out of my mind. It seems like we need to stay watchful every moment.
Bob, yes the TV commercials aggressively reinforce the lie that we are bodies and they promote fear. Mute, mute, mute!
Evan thank you for your vital message today. I loved this idea, ”it’s wise to take actions that support good health and perpetuate it.” These are not the commonly-accepted material actions involving diet, exercise, taking vitamins, getting medical checkups etc., but rather the powerful action to look into our spiritual nature and “see what God’s sees.”

Your muting of the television is exactly what I do as well. In viewing recorded shows I wish there was a program that automatically skipped over all commercials. Such a plethora of medical propaganda that we don’t need to assault consciousness.

It is sometimes very difficult to do is to see beyond the material view, but what is, is not always what is first perceived in consciousness. Our challenge is that of faith in knowing a loving, perfect creator, is the basis for all reality and that nothing opposed to that creator has any real existence or power of its own. thank you, Evan for this most eloquent post.

Readers may be interested to know that First Church, Manchester still exists. Though quite a lot in the north-west have now closed or have become Societies, such as my own church which is 7 miles outside Manchester, we are all striving to keep Christian Science alive and well in this area.

In her sermon on Christian Healing, Mary Baker Eddy says “While the matter physician feels the pulse, examines the tongue, etc., to learn what matter is doing independent of mind, when it is self evident it can do nothing, the metaphysician goes to the fount to govern the streams; he diagnoses disease as mind, the basis of all action, and cures it thus when matter cannot cure it….” “Christian Science repudiates the evidences of the senses and rests upon the supremacy of God.”
Mortal mind sees only it’s own misconceptions and evaluates accordingly. In truth we are the embodiment of God’s spiritual ideas,- perfect in form, expression and function, -and we prove this increasingly as seek this higher view through the clarifying lens of Christian Science.

Thank you all for your comments and reflections. There is no better thought that I have ever found.
I supported church buildings for decades. Yet they closed? No they are simply “Regrouping”.
The Mother Church has been reaching out “Her” supporting hand. The future of our faith and it’s demonstration is in good standing and growing steadily throughout all the lands.
It’s very interesting that the greatest faith is found where there are so many innocent.
The reliance on prayer is efficient when there is no idea of materiality, Where simple substance materially may be a bowl of rice, or a loin cloth.
We know what real Substance is. How be it, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. The innocent, meek ones that throng the offices of third world practitioners offices, lined up for blocks tell the story. “Blessed are the meek, for hey shall inherit the Earth.” How I love Matthew 5! King James version!
This weekend shall bring continued blessings.
We will all see ceasing of hostilities. Together in our one perfect Mind where we continually dwell.

Hi everyone – I feel I must jump into this conversation on the subject of closing /diminishing church activity in the UK – like any growing plant , pruning , when accompanied by good gardening, promotes new growth . That which is no longer ‘giving proof of its utility ‘ takes a new form where there is human need .
Eastbourne is , as David said , on the South coast of UK – a few miles along you will find Chichester and them Portsmouth ( of which I am a member ) . 2 years ago , when in person church services were not permitted , these 2 churches ( listed as Societies ) got together and held joint services on zoom – as many churches did throughout the world . Since then we have been consequentially growing our support and our outreach in our communities . Services are well attended with both regular and visiting guests and we , at Portsmouth Church have refurbished the Reading Room , hired a professional part time Librarian who is. Member of another CS Church and are about to embark on a comprehensive rebuilding programme for our extremely well located premises .
We are still a small membership – but we really don’t think that’s the most important thing – we are able to keep things simple . Our reading room is active and we are all having SUCH a good time !!
When Church seems to close or disappear , it is only the top growth that is cut back – CHURCH is rooted in Spirit and can never be destroyed- when the human manifestation is cut back ( or
pruned ) this can stimulate new growth where it is needed, wanted and loved !
So , my friends , you see that all is well on the South coast of the UK and I look forward to seeing fellow Brits at the end of October to share our good news of joyful Church activity in Southern England .
Not surprisingly this is timely affirmation for me. I noticed something about someone close to me this week and got to work being clear in my thought about it and then that useless, tricky thought: “What is causing this?” came up. With gratitude I got the message that it didn’t matter. Also not surprisingly, there were so many helpful ideas from our weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson on Unreality. obviously the whole issue was unreal and untrue and was simply an opportunity to put the inspiration from the lesson into practice as so often is the case with our weekly lesson subjects.

First Church Manchester was the first in England to be built as a Christian Science church. (First London was a converted synagogue.) it is a listed building so still exists though not as a church. It is an Arts and Crafts design seating 600.
Christian Science was largely started in the UK by the aristocracy as they had the means to travel. Lady Victoria Murray, with her parents, visited Mrs. Eddy a number of times. She was one of the youngest practitioners to be listed in the Journal, and is the person to whom Mrs. Eddy gave the advice to “keep your violin always in tune”.
