We pack for our journeys. What journey are you packing for today?
When my wife and I plan for a hike, we ask, “How long is the hike? What’s the elevation gain? What do we need to take to successfully hike in and back?” and we pack accordingly.
All of us do the same for life. We “pack” for the destination we see ourselves headed toward.
We might ask, “Am I packing for life or death?”
If we see death on the horizon, we mentally pack for it, and the body follows along reflecting the plans the human mind outlines for it to follow. It’s not a pleasant path to follow.
If we see eternal Life on the horizon, we pack for that experience, shedding fears and false beliefs along the way to lighten the load and get there faster. Our heart is full of hope and joy, gratitude, expectancy of good and unwavering conviction that everything is working together for good in our life to ensure that we fully experience eternal Life with God. The effect on the body is profoundly positive. We are packing for life, rather than death.
“Lead me, O Lord in thy righteousness…make thy way straight before my face,” says the Psalmist (5:8).
God takes us straight to eternal Life.
When our mental eye is on Him, He directs our path, dictates what to pack, and gets us to a grand beautiful place.
Pack for the journey you wish to make. Pack for eternal Life!
Excellent! My friend was just recommending a hiking trail recently. She promised I will be surprised at the views. My surprise at spiritual sense is the best view wherever I go. The old matter based views pale in comparison. Thank you for this helpful message.

Thank you, Evan., It can be easy to float along with the general belief of society into “old age” and ultimately “death.” But eternal, harmonious Life (our dear Father/Mother God) is available to us to express through our understanding of Christian Science if we’re just willing to utilize it.
This morning I looked up articles on JSHOnline on the topic of “General Belief” and want to share one that I thought was applicable to Evan’s topic today…plus so many other topics of “general belief” that we can free ourselves from if we’re just alert and willing to focus on the truth we gain from studying Christian Science.

This is so helpful in finding our rightful path in Life, Love… giving up the false
belief in matter. Hymn # 278 inspires us:
“Pilgrim on earth, home and heaven are within thee, Heir of the ages and child of the day
Cared for, watched over, beloved and protected, Walk thou with courage each step of the way
Truthful and steadfast though trials betide thee, Ever one thing do thou ask of thy Lord,
Grace to go forward, wherever He guide thee, Gladly obeying the call of His word
Healed is thy hardness, His love hath dissolved it, Full is the promise, the blessing how kind
So shall His tenderness … teach thee compassion, So all the merciful, mercy shall find”.
We are all heirs to Love’s goodness. We share these treasures in spiritual ways that
are Eternal. Our pathways together lead to a beautiful place in keeping Love in Mind.
