A more enjoyable way to live

April 3, 2023 | 25 comments

If you ever get stressed out about having too many tasks to do and errands to run, stop a moment, and remember your spiritual truth.

With God, you are not a mortal with a long list of material things to do. You’re an immortal with spiritual qualities of Life, Truth, and Love to reflect.

Don’t let mortal mind run you ragged. Let divine Mind inspire you!

Enjoy the moment you’re in.

Concentrate less on the fifty things to do, and more on feeling the peace of God that comes from knowing that “All things work together for good.”

Pray, listen, rejoice, be grateful. Think spiritually. Live spiritually. Express Spirit. Life is more enjoyable that way.

  1. ….for it is God which worketh in you, both to will, and to do of His good pleasures”

Only justust received this as I am about to go to bed and can’t check now where this
quote from the Bible comes, but I am sure you all know it anyway.

Also, I think Mrs. Eddy says that “God rests in action”.

i am just about the rest in inaction!! Peace and harmony and blessings to all.

    1. Phil.2:13 is your passage..and a blessing to all of us who need to learn to let God be the prime mover in our lives.

  2. Thank you Evan. This is good. I was healed of this kind of life where each day was never long enough for me to complete my list of assignments.

    I finally learnt that, all I need to do is to let God lead. I prayed with this;
Give us this day our daily bread.
Give us Grace for today; feed the famished affection. Science and Health. Page 17.

  3. Many thanks… especially since I have just been thinking about those 50 things to do. Realizing gratitude for the blessings that are already flowing, giving strength and ability will bring peace.

Many thanks for all of your posts and for all of the readers’ supportive comments.
    Blessings to all,
    Jane

    1. Thanks for this excellent article J.
—Good quotes, “…..God has exclusive rights to the government of His creation….” — think of that, if God has EXCLUSIVE rights to govern us, then nothing else can affect us.
Also, “Man reflects infinity.” — This reminds me of our expansive nature.

  4. I loved, “Don’t let mortal mind run you ragged.” It made me laugh because it is so true. If we let it, mortal mind would love to keep us running around and distracted from the Peace of the moment. Today is my birthday and I’m trying to just enjoy the pleasure of simple moments rather than let mortal mind or human outlining tell me how a birthday “should be.”

    1. Happy Birthday Rose and I’m sure your day was grand by not letting mortal Mind run you ragged.

    2. Hi Rose. Just seen this. My birthday today too (3 April). Good to share it with you. My husband and I are having a few days holiday as his birthday is 2 April! No stress just enjoyment.

      1. Thank you Sheila and Linda for your sweet birthday wishes! Linda happy to hear we share a birthday. Hope you and your hubby have a great holiday. As Evan said let’s “enjoy the moment we’re in.” God is loving and blessing and caring for us ALL.

  5. Thank you Evan for this timely reminder. This past week has been very busy with lists galore. I decided to lay any worries down and replace worry with joy and allow God to lead me from one project to the next. Everything is getting done harmoniously and the thought came to me to pray. I also remembered the quote from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures where Mrs. Eddy says ‘Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself.’ (p. 385)

  6. I am very grateful for your today’s SpiritView dear Evan! Absolute comforting and healing is the Truth you mention: “with God I am not a mortal with a long list of material things to do. We are an immortal with spiritual qualities of Life, Truth and Love to reflect.” How wonderful, that is our real purpose and business here and right where we are! I also remember the Truth sentence from SH “we rest in God, and God rests in action.” and “We are only the humble servant of the restful Mind.” I love these truth ideas!

Dear Rose, happy Birthday and a very lovely God-blessed day to you!♡

    1. Thank you Uta, Linda, Lorn and J for your kind Birthday wishes. Much appreciated and so nice to read these at the conclusion of a good day, in the presence of God and the company of spiritual friends.

  7. I used to tell myself I was a morning person. I would jump out of bed and get busy. I still love mornings but I started to see that jump into action was often the mortal mind I was involved with going over my to do list before I got up
Nothing wrong with knowing the things needed to do before I left from work but …..
Now retired from my job it is even clearer it is more mortal mind and not morning energy. I do a few things and then reading and meditating. So funny to see this
