Choose your steps wisely

When faced with a trial or challenge, you have a choice to make. Are you going to plow through that trial blindly and let come what may? Or are you going to stop a moment, pray for guidance, and then make wise decisions that get you to a good place?

While hiking in the Beartooth High Lakes area of Montana, last September, I stopped at a creek side to record a few thoughts on the wisdom of choosing your steps wisely for the best results.

  1. ‘Shepherd, show me how to go
    O’er the hillside steep,
How to gather, how to sow, –
    How to feed Thy sheep.

I will listen for Thy voice,
    Lest my footsteps stray.
    I will follow & rejoice
    All the rugged way.’
    [Hymn ]

  2. Love the sound of the water throughout this vlog Evan. Plus a profound lesson for us to ponder !

Whether you turn to the right or the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying “ This is the way , walk in it.” Isaiah 30;21

I will do my best to pause a minute and consider how God wants me to progress today❣️

  3. On putting choices to the test:
“Spirit is the real and eternal
Matter is the unreal and temporal”
Christian Science “is indeed a city of the Spirit, fair, royal, and square.” SH 575:24

    1. How blessed I am to enjoy the insights that are presented in this blog. Angie’s response: Shepherd show me how to go…
By MBE…a healing hymn, for me & untold others.

    1. Thank you, David! Much appreciated inspiration today and knowing that it leads all in the U.S. during these challeng times, as well. Blessings

  4. So many, many ways, Evan, to daily embrace your beautifully presented “steam bed crossing.” Life’s pathways and our standpoints revealed by the light of Truth shining eternally on His creation.

  5. I think it was Angie that shared the link in October to an article called Follow Your Shepherd by Nancy Burtis. I cannot express enough gratitude for the help it has given me in planning a move cross country. Especially helpful was the sentence ‘All the noise and confusion.. did not keep (me) from hearing and following (my) Shepherd.’ It has helped me stay focused and uphold my responsibility to our Shepherd by being obedient to his directions. Thank You Evan, and all your bloggers for the wonderful insights and inspirations You share.

  6. Penny, whenever I’ve been making a major change including when I moved from New York State to California, I prayed with Hymn 148. The first verse is especially helpful:
    In heavenly love abiding
No change my heart shall fear,
    And safe is such confiding,
    For nothing changes here.
The storm may roar about me,
My heart may low be laid,
But God is round about me,
    And can I be dismayed.

  7. Thank you for your thoughts on praying for Guidance before stepping forward, and thanks for sharing beautiful nature experiences, always healing.

“For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. “ (Psalms 91)
