Don’t be minimized

Do you ever feel minimized by other people or an internal voice that puts you down?
If so, it’s time to listen to a different voice!
You are a worthy creature. You have value, are worthy of respect, and have a vital and essential role to play in the universal scheme of things. You have just as much spiritual right to exist and flourish as anyone else.
The carnal mind seems to work overtime in beating people up and striving to make them feel less than God sees them. And if we are not alert, we might accept degrading suggestions as legitimate and start to feel poorly about ourselves.
Don’t do it!
Disagree with any oral, physical or mental attempt to put you down.
Now this is not an argument to build up the human ego and declare to the world, “I’m the greatest thing around!” That’s not the point at all.
And it’s not a premise to get angry at other people who allow the carnal mind to use their mouth or mind for put-down purposes.
It’s about defending the integrity of your individuality from suggestions that don’t appreciate and understand the good you have to offer. You need to know your own worth before others are going to appreciate it.
God thinks incredibly highly of you. So high, that it will take eternity for you to understand and experience just how precious and essential you are to rounding out God’s family to completeness.
Each of us is like a rail in a set of railroad tracks. If one rail is missing, the whole train derails and stops. You are critical to keep the train moving! You are just as important as everyone else.
Know your worth! Humbly understand and cherish your value.
When suggestions come like, “I am not good enough. I am not loved. I am not needed. It wouldn’t matter if I were dead,” rebel! Protest! Refuse to consent!
You are good enough. You are loved. You are needed.  And it does matter that you are around.

Know your worth. Don’t be minimized. Stand strong. And flourish.

  1. Never thought about eternity that way! Other religions make it sound like a long slough of atonement for sin, yikes. I like your explanation much better. Thank you.

  2. I don’t ever remember putting my self worth down, BUT I DID PUT OTHER PEOPLE DOWN, until I realized when I took up the study of C/S, that was a terrible habit to have. I absolutely don’t do it any more thanks to the study of this amazing religion.

  3. Thank you for this, Evan. The suggestions have been coming thick and fast for some time now, and some days it’s very hard to see that they are just lies. I am going to print this and carry it with me to help keep me on the right track. The ideas aren’t new to me, but something in the way you said them really reaches me.

  4. I’ve had several days of wonderful spiritual enlightenment and then the door of negativity hit me in the face. I awoke this morning w a renewed willingness to pray for myself and this blog is so liberating. Thank you, Evan, for your support.

  5. Thankyou so much Evan. I have just lost my job, which I loved and with God’s help felt I did well.
Although I have prayed every day for God’s plan to reveal itself there hasn’t been a definite answer. Now these sugguestions are starting to present themselves to my thought. I will endevour to hold onto these ideas for the whole world.
