Eliminating sabotage

July 4, 2022 | 16 comments

Have you ever felt like your efforts to demonstrate spiritual healing are sabotaged? If so, directly confront the suggestion of sabotage with spiritual truth, reverse it, and prove it impossible.

The definition of sabotage is the attempt to deliberately destroy, damage or obstruct. It implies the existence of a malicious power that can reverse or prevent good from happening.

In Science, sabotage doesn’t happen, because in Truth, there is no evil power that can destroy God’s goodness. God’s good is immortal, spiritual, eternal. It lasts forever, and there isn’t anything anywhere that can threaten it, harm, destroy or obstruct it from fulfilling its purpose.

The belief that evil is real seems so prevalent in humanity’s thought, that it needs to be daily guarded against and replaced with absolute truth to guard one’s demonstration of God’s goodness from the suggestion of sabotage.

So, stay alert to Truth! Be clear that God is the only power at work in your life, the only cause, the only creator of all conditions of your experience. That God causes only good things to happen, and that there is no room, space, or place for anything less than good to occur.

Understand that evil is no threat to you, and that evil cannot plot or plan the destruction of something good that rightfully belongs to you.

Under the wing of the Almighty sabotage is impossible. It does not occur. Only God’s predictable good occurs.

  1. I love this: “Under the wing of the Almighty, sabotage is impossible. It does not occur. Only God’s predictable good occurs.” Every time I see a bird fly by or sitting on a branch, I am reminded of Truth. Grateful for this perfect idea, Evan!!!

  2. So inspiring, Evan, and so needed. Thank you very much.

It seems that everyday the suggestions and conjectures of evil are waiting to find foothold in thought. I have found it so important to daily guard against this fraudulent suggestion. Mrs. Eddy’s “Alertness to Duty,” as found in the Church Manual (p. 42) stands as a daily reminder to defend ourselves against aggressive mental suggestion.

  3. Thank you, Evan, for this timely reminder. I love the picture and how it goes with your last paragraph “under the wing,,” We are “neath His sheltering wing” and protected,

The breakfast table this morning was accompanied by a litany of the ways the devil (though he wasn’t given the credit) is handling a number of people, mostly through their politics, reactions to court rulings, etc. My mate is not a Scientist and doesn’t seem to see things as God sees them.

I guess I hear it in order to handle it and work to eliminate the thinking from our mental household, but it took a lot of denying and praying this morning before I gained peace and was able to feel God’s good and appreciate the lesson on Sacrament.

This morning’s blog is a real helper with this and a keeper. Thank you for this message of freedom on this Independence Day. Love is All the power there is.

  4. Your message today certainly backs up an article in Miscellaneous Writings that I recently read – One Cause And Effect (page 21). Mrs Eddy says in that article (among other good things). “That there is but one God or Life, one cause and one effect, is the multum in parvo of Christian Science; and to my understanding it is the heart of Christianity, the religion that Jesus taught and demonstrated.
(Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 25:3–6)

  5. The photo is precious. “Under the wing of the Almighty,” the little duck (I thinks it’s a duck) knows it is safe and secure. Just like we are under God’s wing always, we can rest in that care.

Thanks Evan for reminding us to daily guard against the erroneous, but widely accepted belief in evil as a power.

I’m continuing to ponder this important idea of impersonalizing error, which we’ve been taking about lately here on SV — regarding others, ourselves or situations.
One day a while back I heard some noise outside my house. I looked out the window and saw someone rummaging through mine and my neighbor’s trash bins, pulling out cans and bottles to recycle for money. I got angry and banged on the window signaling that they did not have permission to be on the property and said they needed to leave. The person was not cooperative, said some angry words back to me, kept rummaging, then finally left. I was feeling upset about this interchange until I realized where my thinking had gone wrong. I had become offended by a false belief. Offended by the false belief that there was a force or power that could come and disturb (or as Evan said, sabotage) my good, threaten my safety, my harmony, invade the sanctity of my home. I had attached the belief in that power to this person. I recognized it had nothing to do with this person (or me), it was just a false belief. God’s good for both of us hadn’t been touched, I was fine, they were fine Then I immediately felt peaceful about that encounter, and actually felt joyful that God had showed me clearly what was really going on.

Happy July 4th to friends in USA and love to all everywhere!

  6. WOWZA! So grateful for today’s powerful message 🙂 Thank you so much; will definitely be printing this out and keeping it close by to refer to…

  7. Oh so grateful for this Evan. It’s printed out for further study.
‘Under the wing of the Almighty, sabotage is impossible..’ Love that!
Spiritual unfoldment is the healing process for everyone. ❣️

  8. It is impossible to have faith without the uncertainty that faith overcomes. Faith then is the certainty of good, God as the only power.

  9. Just a few days ago I was the victim of a scam. It’s the first time and I was greatly disturbed, until I turned to prayer. I declared that all of God’s children were created in His image and likeness and therefore honest and I couldn’t cause me any harm. Evan, your blog was especially timely – thanks!

  10. Well, how marvelous to see this message spelled out so clearly and happily. The little critter peeking out on Good in its experience is just darling. Thank you.

  11. Yes! This was definitely a keeper.
Great reminder to stay alert. There is no evil mind, for Mind is God, and God is all, and God is good only. There can not be more than all!

Thanks so much Evan for keeping us on our toes. (=
