Let God’s promises shine on your problems.

~ Corrie ten Boom

Eternal Life, eternal Love, forever health, unquenchable Spirit, are all part of God’s promises.

But they are more than promises. They are facts!

Thanks a lot Evan! God’s promises to his/her beloved creation, to us all, are facts! And if you read in this connection the article which Angie sent us today the divine facts are huge, perfect and utmost loving. Thank you God for your wonderful promises which heals all that needs healing!♡

  1. I loved the book, The Hiding Place,
    by, Corrie ten Boom

“The title refers to both the physical hiding place where the ten Boom family hid Jews from the Nazis and also to the Scriptural message found in Psalm 119:114: “Thou art my hiding place and my shield.”

Thanks Evan for her quote and your
    message.

    1. M thanks for mentioning The Hiding Place, I believe it was also turned into a film. I hadn’t heard of Carrie and the Ten Boom family until now but the small amount of reading I did this morning was quite inspiring. They were devout Christians guided by their faith. Their home in the Netherlands where they hid and loved and protected Jews during the Holocaust is now a museum. This link has more of their story and a virtual tour:

Another quote from Carrie “The Lord has no problems, only plans.”

Evan thank you for bringing us quotes from an array of enlightened spiritual thinkers.

  2. I love this Evan! Reading Spiritview this morning and listening to The Daily Lift, I could not help but feel gratitude for God. We get to witness God’s goodness, daily. It is by having challenges that we get to know God is looking out for us and feel the love of God’s presence. Eventually we get to a challenge we cannot resolve ourselves, we are way over our head, and that is when we get to know, how will you resolve this God? Mary Baker Eddy says “Trials are proofs of God’s care” on Pg 66 of S&H. We get to witness that care. It is beautiful. The unfolding. If you have a challenge, you will get to witness the good that will unfold. How blessed are you? You get to see how much God cares for you! Are you ready to witness it? To accept that incrediable demonstration of love and care for you? Because it isn’t about the problem. It is about God resolving it for you, guiding you, loving you…and you witnessing that.

    1. Thank you Kirsten for your uplifting words of truth.

Sometimes when I read.Mrs. Eddy’s statement that trials are proofs of God’s care for us I wonder if she could have meant that the “troubles” were actually sent by God (which doesn’t line up with my understanding of a loving God that knows only good for His child) or just that when we seem to be confronted with challenges we have the great opportunity to come up higher in consciousness and see more proof of His love and care. Love to hear anyone’s thoughts on this. Thanks and love.

      1. Hi Rose. When considering your question today I was led to view the sentence “Trials are proof of God’s care.” in context, as it appears in S&H. I’ve copied and pasted the entire paragraph in which this sentence appears below. Notice that the paragraph begins with “Trials teach mortals not to lean on a material staff…”. Aren’t all trials the result of us identifying ourselves as “mortals” and trusting in “matter” instead of identifying ourselves spiritually, as God’s MANifestation? Then doesn’t the suffering we experience via “trials” cause mortals to abandon the mortal/material view of themselves and awaken to the true view of themselves as God’s loved compound ideas? That awakening reveals the “proof” that God cares for us and has always cared for us and the trial was just an illusion of material sense that vanishes into its “native nothingness” when Truth is revealed.

The law of Love is perpetually in operation because God loves us. So the fact that we experience suffering when we try to act contrary to God’s law is proof of God’s love. It’s like a human parent that chooses to require their children to obey certain rules (like not running out into the street before looking for traffic) because the parent loves the child and knows that failing to enforce the rules (law) would result in harm to the child. Similarly, the fact that God’s laws never deviate and that all we have to do is live in accordance with those laws to experience harmony is “proof” that God loves us.

Below again is the entire paragraph in which the sentence “Trials are proofs of God’s care.” appears.
        ——–
Trials teach mortals not to lean on a material staff, — a broken reed, which pierces the heart. We do not half remember this in the sunshine of joy and prosperity. Sorrow is salutary. Through great tribulation we enter the kingdom. Trials are proofs of God’s care. Spiritual development germinates not from seed sown in the soil of material hopes, but when these decay, Love propagates anew the higher joys of Spirit, which have no taint of earth. Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 66:6)

        1. Dear RH, thank you so much for your thoughtful reply, I’m so happy to read it and will take time to really take it in. I appreciate that you put the sentence in its full context, we often see it quoted alone so this in itself is very helpful. I will go to S&H and read that whole section. Much love for sharing your insight, I think many of us will benefit from its clarity.

      2. I love that the definition of the word “trial” is “a formal opportunity to share evidence”. This helps me see trials as opportunities to see the evidence of God’s care, the only evidence there is❤️

    2. Fear dissolves and is replaced by grace… Because you know God is looking out for you and there is nothing God cannot do. God doesn’t fail. If God wanted to bring you hardship, you wouldn’t have a chance…
Job 3:25 “the thing I feared the most has come upon me, and that which I was afraid of has come unto me.” The thing “I” feared most… Imagine that fear dissolving and instead becoming confidence that God has you. That no fear can conquer you or hold you in bondage. I think we get to prove that, live that, experience that. That false god being disproved and seeing the real God.

  3. If there is a challenge which seems prolonged or a practitioner who passed on because of an illness, it can be very difficult to keep thoughts on the ‘good and the true’ especially if you don’t feel yourknowledge is sufficient. How do readers overcome this?

    1. Hi Caz. I too have asked this question. We probably all have. I used to abandon the study of CS for months at a time because I would get so discouraged. But eventually I got over that. When reading your question it occurred to me that the way to overcome this is to keep thought focused on what is true. All error, such as the belief that we don’t know enough or something can’t be healed using CS treatment, is just a mesmeric illusion. Daniel Jensen, in his talk “Practical Wisdom” defines the following two step process for breaking a hypnotic spell:

      1) recognize what you seem to be experiencing is illusory (a hypnotic illusion)
      2) know the truth about the illusion

Just this past weekend it became so clear to me that people that are hypnotized, or people suffering from mental illness and acting irrationally, are totally ignorant of that. It’s like when you are having a bad dream at night, you are totally oblivious to the fact that you are dreaming and therefore you don’t do anything to try and wake up and break the dream. So the first step is to realize that discouragement and failure by yourself and others to realize healing is an hypnotic illusion. God provides for man’s every need, even though it may not be apparent sometimes. So when it’s not apparent that is your “key” to know you need to wake yourself up. That is so hard to recognize sometimes, because the mortal mind mentality is inclined to remain ignorant of God. So you have to vigorously FIGHT that inclination mentally by rousing yourself to the fact that what you seem to be experiencing is NOT true. It is NOT true.

Once you have recognized what you are experiencing isn’t true you have to focus on what is true. If the belief is discouragement, KNOW that God’s man reflects Mind and can only know what Mind knows (study the answer to the question “What is Mind?” on page 469 of S&H). God is never discouraged because God is all-seeing and therefore sees nothing but His pure, harmonious, beloved ideas. Know that “I can only be conscious of what God knows.” Focus on absolute truths. Realize that God gives you life and Life is all harmonious so life is all harmonious (notice the capitalization in the reference below)..

Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 495:14–15, 16–20)

KNOW that this method of CS treatment IS effective. Don’t let anything convince you otherwise. And then stick to it no matter how long it takes because if you do that, there is no way the lie can continue to affect you. No way. I’ve proven that over and over. Sometimes it takes persistent effort and sometimes it happens immediately, but it always works when done consistently.

Here’s the link to the talk by Daniel Jensen in which he provides the two step process for breaking free of mesmeric illusions.

Must love to you Caz. Please don’t give up! Instead enjoy “waking up!” God really is Love and really is loving you right now. I know you can realize that and break free of the lie of discouragement that tries to hide God’s love from us.

  4. Caz,
Kirsten and RH have given great insights that can relate to your questions. I also would like to offer my 2 cents worth.

When a healing takes a while, I think of it as how we learn anything: as we progress, we graduate to the next level. The principle or concept has to be understood, but seldom is it understood all at once. The higher the level, the deeper the understanding needed. We just have to keep working to solve the problem. For instance. when we read a sentence from Science and Health for the thousandth time… and the light goes on. Oh, that’s what that means! It’s all there when we need it.

We can’t know what goes on with another’s understanding. We’re each on our own journey. That person is never lost, because God is always there, aways has been and always will be, loving, guiding, giving all good.

Our only knowledge is from God, who is omniscient. That’s where prayer takes us.

In this article, the author discovers the good learned rather than the inharmony she seemed to struggle with. You’ll have to highlight it to open, can’t seem to share correctly.
