  1. Thank you for reminding me of this poem, Evan – it is all so good, so I will share it with
    those who do not know it;

    Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
    The flying cloud, the frosty light:
    The year is dying in the night;
    Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

    Ring out the old, ring in the new,
    Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
    The year is going, let him go;
    RING OUT THE FALSE, RING IN THE TRUE.

    Ring out the grief that saps the mind
    For those that here we see no more;
    Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
    Ring in redress to all mankind.

    Ring out a slowly dying cause,
    And ancient forms of party strife;
    Ring in the nobler modes of life,
    With sweeter manners, purer laws.

    Ring out the want, the care, the sin,
    The faithless coldness of the times;
    Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes
    But ring the fuller minstrel in.

    Ring out false pride in place and blood,
    The civic slander and the spite;
    Ring in the love of truth and right,
    Ring in the common love of good.

    Ring out old shapes of foul disease;
    Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
    Ring out the thousand wars of old,
    Ring in the thousand years of peace.

    Ring in the valiant man and free,
    The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
    Ring out the darkness of the land,
    Ring in the Christ that is to be.

    1. I am very happy that we learn in CS that success is coming from God as a precious quality of God, the one highest Intelligence.
      Am deeply grateful for Christian Science, and that he lead me to it so graciously!♡

      1. Thank you Uta for your appreciation of SpiritView , and I like very much “The highest intelligence”, another synonym of God.
        Sometimes when we be meet new persons
        I like to use other synonyms for God like the one you states above; sometimes the word God makes some individuals uncomfortable.Of course MBE ‘7 synonyms are
        always appropriate.

  7. Thank you Evan and Maggie for sharing the poem. It strikes such clarity with me like the truths Mary Baker Eddy wrote in the Science and Health. Turn away from error and only let reality shine in our hearts!

  8. Thank you Evan and Maggie and all. I am also looking forward to all the inspiration and blessings to be revealed each day.

  9. Thank you Evan and Maggie for the very topical poem. I, too, am looking forward to another wonderful year of absorbing love and spiritual inspiration from so many caring and insightful friends throughout the world. Happy New Year….Everyone!

  10. This is such a wonderful poem! I treasure the sharing that occurs here and
    Thank you, dear Evan, for this precious site and for all who so lovingly share
    and/or partake of its blessings in ways often unknown. I know a dear friend
    used to read and be uplifted by it’s messages, even though she didn’t understand
    (…we are all learning) or comment …and that is a very comforting thought.
    Heartfelt Love is so much felt and present especially in times that may seem
    very challenging, but even the mundane, become special when seen through
    the spiritual lens of eternal time.
    I thank each and every one of you, for being here with the Love and Kindness
    expressed and given and received in ways we often don’t even know.. but that
    benefits others who feel and are helped by these divine and heavenly gifts of
    spiritual Being. My heart overflows with gratitude.

    1. Carol. love the idea of SV rippling out in many directions in unknown, blessed ways. I’ve thought about that before. Good will find it’s way to those who need it. Also appreciated, “…even the mundane becomes special when seen through the spiritual lens of eternal time.”

      1. Thank you, Rose, that rippling effect is much needed in the world today,
        but it is comforting to know that even just a small inkling of Truth can
        become a sea of inspiration, when combined synergistically with other thoughts,
        making the entire world a better place. Sometimes we just never know how our
        positive spiritual thoughts can be helping others.

  11. I, too, thank you, dear Evan and Maggie–a wonderful poem! Isn’t it interesting how many of the verses reflect the current thoughts and trends of the day? We can only go forward with grace, love, and sincere appreciation for all God’s goodness expressed and reflected in each–and all.
    With love to all,
    Karen

    1. Thank you very very much for that article “a new year of opportunity”, dear “J”. It’s wonderfully inspiring. Therein is mentioned the Truth “God is working His purpose out.” Hymn 82 in our CS Hymnal tells us about the spiritual renewing at the end of each of the there Verses “…tue earth may be filled with glory of God, as the wafers Cover the sea.” It’s a wonderful song, I love it including the beautiful music! In this sense, a very happy New Year to you all with Love!♡♡

      1. I loved that part of Hymn #82, also, dear Uta and J and looked the hymn up again to read in it’s entirety. It is a very inspiring lesson for us all. God IS working His purpose out… and
        “the light of the glorious Gospel of truth May shine throughout.. the world” < That
        light and truth can not be hidden by sorrow or anything opposed to God.
        The whole article was very inspiring and thank you again, J .

  12. Maggie thank you for sharing the entire poem. The only part I had known before was from a George Harrison song that said, “Ring out the old ring in the new; Ring out the false ring in the true.” That in itself is very good, but so great to see the whole thing. Sounds like Tennyson was very spiritual, he lived during Mrs. Eddy’s time, wonder if he encountered CS teachings.

    Here’s the George Harrison song on Youtube, it’s called Ding Dong Ding Dong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3EcJFQttAk

    Today’s message makes me think of what Mrs. Eddy said in S&H. “Willingness to become as a little child and to leave the old for the new, renders thought receptive of the advanced idea. Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear,—this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony.” (p.323)

    Let’s be glad to “leave the false landmarks” and joyful to “see them disappear.” Love to Evan and all SV friends everywhere, happy to be with you.

  13. Very inspiring, all of it. Thank you, Evan, and everyone for your uplifting thoughts.

  14. Thank you, Evan, for continuing your gift to us. Thank you all for your comments and wishes. Thank you, Maggie, for posting the entire poem. and thank you Rose, the music was interesting and definitely ringing out the old and false and in the new and true. A Happy and Blessed New Year to all.

  15. A Very Happy New Year to Evan and all our dear friends of Spirit View. Thanks to Evan for daily inspiring us and to all friends worldwide,who post equally inspiring comments, sharing articles, poems and songs too.
    Yes we all need to ring out the old…the sad moments, the grief, the animosity, the failures, the disagreements and ring in happiness, forgiveness,love and brotherhood, new hopes, our deeper understanding of God and His infinite goodness, a truer understanding of the real man made in God’s image and likeness, and embracing the universe in one bond of love and peace✌️ where harmony reigns supreme in the world.
    A Big Thanks to our dear father mother God for His infinite blessings, to Christ Jesus our way shower, to Mrs Eddy and her team of dedicated workers for their love and for sharing Christian Science with the world, to Mother Church, all Christian Science practitioners , nurses, readers, members and all who work so faithfully for spreading the word of God through Christian Science. May everyone be abundantly blessed, always. Amin

  16. Thank you Evan for your generous and constant flow
    Of Love to open more our heart to a more celestial vision , so we can too see our world and neighbors the way our good
    Lord see it. Blessings, thanks and happy 2024 to all thinkers at SpiritView!
