He didn’t lose faith

I have a friend who over many years could never keep up on his bills. He borrowed and borrowed going deeper into debt, always managing to scrape by, but unable to turn his financial situation around.

Yet, this man never lost faith in God’s ability to supply his needs.

He would call me in distress over no money in the bank, but ever optimistic and hopeful that God was taking care of him. His faith persevered.

Many hurdles were jumped over those years to stay afloat. With prayer and listening, he always found a way to make it to the next month, to keep his business open and a roof over his family’s head. But times were still tough.

But he didn’t lose his faith.

We prayed frequently with the idea that God’s supply is not dollars in hand, but love, faith, wisdom and trust in thought. These spiritual assets coming from God never deplete or fail to carry us through when reflected.

He learned to draw upon the “deep pockets” of Mind for his resources.

His income was still meager. But his faith remained steadfast.

After several years of persistent prayer and striving to understand spiritual supply better, through a totally unexpected and quick turn of events, this man went from having minimal material assets to becoming a millionaire. An asset in his possession all along that he had carefully tended to, became very valuable almost overnight.

He’s still striving to understand spiritual wealth better and one’s true source of income, but he’s seen firsthand that where human earning power seems to fall short, divine blessing can step in to more than make up.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi

  1. How wonderful this experience is. It touches on something I’ve been praying to know this past year. And that is, that we already “have in the house” the spiritual reality and conviction that God is good alone, and governing every part of our being – and is governing all Her children, everywhere – unconditionally loving each of us. Our spirituality is our most important possession – it’s what we are. And we reflect God’s abundant spiritual reality as we affirm God’s goodness and presence to heal and uplift mankind. All are worthy of all God’s beneficient grace. And we are recognized and compensated as we reflect His divine presence in word and deed. Like stars that are seen when they reflect the light. These absolute statements of spiritual reality are seen as we reflect them in the relativity of our daily lives, in the small acts and words and deeds we are prayerfully led to share with others. Talk about the real theory of relativity! “God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies.” Mary Baker Eddy
