In explaining how to heal with spiritual truth, Mary Baker Eddy writes, “…hold your ground with the unshaken understanding of Truth and Love, and you will win”(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 417). Hold your ground! If you owned one acre of ground, and a neighbor decided to encroach on your acre with a structure of his own without asking permission, you likely would have a talk with him, and say, “Hey dude. You need to build your structure on your ground, not on my ground.” You would defend the integrity of your land. You would “hold your ground.” The same rule applies to fears and false beliefs trying to encroach on our thinking and claim a part of our mind for mortal mind. If disease says, “I’m coming in and invading your territory,” it’s a call on your practice of Truth to “hold your ground.” Deny entry to that belief. Kick it out. As Mrs. Eddy says, when you “hold your ground with…Truth and Love,” you win. You defeat the unwanted imposters and remain healthy. Be sure that Truth and Love have the final say. Hold your ground.

i always say, “God has the only say “. Why, Because He alone is Creator, both cause and effect. nothing else is our reality- just a false claim trying to force a fake reality upon us.
I’m not a CS- ( yet) and I may never become one- but Truth only has one label, and that’s ” Child of God!!

Dear Sha, I appreciate your comments very much and am glad to see you here on SV. You mention that you are not a Christian Scientist. That got me thinking. I try not to get caught up in labels. I think of myself truly as a student of Christian Science. That is one of the MANY things I love about it. Unlike perhaps other religions, we don’t necessarily have to say what we “are” but we can say that we are studying and gaining a deeper understanding of God and our relationship with Him, as explained in CS, and applying it to our lives each day and thereby seeing more and more healings and demonstrations of Truth. It is for everyone.

Love this Bonnie. April Fool’s Day in the US today. You are correct, we cannot and will not be fooled by error’s various tactics to get our attention away from the Truth of our continuous Harmony as God’s expression. A good day to remember to “hold our ground” and cling to God. Our ground is our consciousness, filled with Good.
Mrs. Eddy said (S&H p. 578) in her interpretation of the 23rd Psalm, “…I will dwell in the house [the consciousness] of [Love] forever.”
Holding on to God’s Truth and loving support, despite whatever mortal limitations
may be put on us is paramount in growing in the spiritual good we have to share.
No one and no thing can take away our God-given rights of freedom to express and
appreciate the joys that are abundant and surrounding all of us. It is our divine
nature to absorb and radiate extraordinary beauty and subtlety of God’s wonderful
world.
Now is now – God’s Love keeps us holding on to the Truth which forever embraces
our spirit regardless what the mortal outlook Appears to be.
Mrs. Eddy states in S&H pg # 393,
“Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man
capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on
man.”

A different Spirit View titled STAND YOUR GROUND tickled me when I read, “Stand up, don’t allow error a lap to land on”, not repeated exactly, but the comical image remains the same.
When error deceives, tempts us, confuses us to look at it, or simply tricks us for it’s own sense of humor, we “stand up, so error has no lap to land on” Stand up, remember, is not a physical action, but a solution to mentally end error’s power, hold, nor distraction from all the good God has for us. Remember to STAND UP, never giving error a lap to land on. Individuals maintain control by standing up, ensuring error has no site, body, thought, nor home where error can appear.

In thinking about the tenacity of trees and how they are able to hold on throughout
the winds of time that would try to uproot their firm being ..
They were first a seed planted in the ground and with patience – endured anything
that would deter their growth. Like a tree, if we are ever tempted to give up after
much patience and perseverance, we must remember the last thing to produce on
a fruit tree is the fruit. So we must hold on to the Truth, ever so dearly…
In Misc. Writings, pg 356, Mrs. Eddy, after all of the years of her searching for
the Truth, had written, “The seed of Christian Science, which when sown was ‘the
least of all seeds,’ has sprung up, borne fruit, and the birds of the air, the uplifted
desires of the human heart, have lodged in its branches. Now let my faithful
students carry the fruit of this tree into the rock-ribbed nests of the raven’s callow
brood.”
