How God helps us

December 23, 2020 | 24 comments

If you’re looking for God’s help, seek it in Spirit, for God is Spirit.

I explain in this video how God’s help comes to us spiritually, and in turn, translates into human needs met. God isn’t matter. God is Spirit, and God’s help comes to us spiritually.

I filmed this video while camping in the Valley of Fire State Park, in Nevada, in October of 2020.

    1. Thank you, Evan. The flavor/way you’ve expressed your idea for today- is very helpful.

Angie-the article you’ve posted too- is very helpful.
      Thank you!!

  1. I love this message, and the amazing photo that depicts how the light of Spirit breaks through the illusions of matter. Yes, to open up and be receptive in prayer to Spirit,- our real substance and essence,– Spirit, the source of all true happiness, harmony, beauty and freedom, is to begin to see the nothingness of material limitations. How grateful to know this!! Thank you Evan for so clearly explaining the distinction between matter and Spirit, which as the picture signifies, is the bedrock of Christian Science.

  2. Evan, So good to see you out in nature and once again sharing a beautiful message with us. Yes we receive the best results when we turn to God with our Spiritual Sense and know that healing comes to us from God through spiritual upliftment, seeing the True view= the SpiritView! Very grateful to go out into the day filled with Truth. God bless all, here and everywhere!

  3. Angie,- this journal article “Prayer- invitation and demand” by Cheryl Ranson is such a perfect addition to today’s subject. I’m in awe of how you do it!! Thanking you with love.

  4. kinda profound….easy to know that God is Spirit….but solely looking for spiritual guidance/insight/healing…is a game changer for me. No more looking to matter for anything!

  5. Pure Love Evan – ALL! Thank you. God’s infinite and great gift – the steady impartation through us, all creation, divine consciousness manifested. God IS, we ARE. This impartation through us, divine creation – the illumination of “Divine Love meets every human need.” Spirit. ALL

  6. Matter is unreal and never says the truth about God’s creation. Since God is Spirit and man is His image and likeness, we are always gifted with God’s spiritual ideas and guidance. For in Him (Spirit), we live and move and have our being.

  7. Thank you Evan and All. Evan’s message today that we experience God’s help (realize infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation) via the spirit of Truth, rather than via matter, reminded me of the following statement from S&H that I found new meaning in a few weeks ago:

Remember that the letter and mental argument are only human auxiliaries to aid in bringing thought into accord with the spirit of Truth and Love, which heals the sick and the sinner.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 454:31)

It’s easy to view prayer as a technique whereby we “change” something bad into something good. But the above citation makes it clear that study and prayer is just the human method by which we gain a realization of God and God’s idea -or- the *spirit* of Truth and Love. Whenever I’m praying about something I can tell when I reach that “spirit of Truth and Love” in consciousness and I’ve learned when that happens I can relax and know the healing has occurred, even though the evidence before the physical senses may not yet reflect that healing. But as I hold to that spirit of Truth and Love the evidence of that healing always appears.

I’ve sometimes wondered, and heard other people wonder, why Christian Science treatment seems to “work” in some instances and not in others. Recently it occurred to me that any “healing” via Christian Science has to include a healing of sin (as brought out in the article Angie shared). And by “sin” I don’t mean sin as most people think of that word (i.e. adultery, bank robbery, etc.). I mean any belief we are holding that is not in accord with the First Commandment (one God). Some people experience healing in C.S. at first but then seem to have difficulty experiencing healing and I wonder if that is because they are willing to let go of certain beliefs that are contrary to the omnipotence of God when first introduced to C.S., but then they are unwilling to let go of other sinful beliefs that they are holding dear. Matthew 5:29, 30 bring out this idea:

29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

    Mrs. Eddy also wrote:

The emphatic purpose of Christian Science is the healing of sin; and this task, sometimes, may be harder than the cure of disease; because, while mortals love to sin, they do not love to be sick.
(Rudimental Divine Science, Mary Baker Eddy, pp. 2:25–2)

But if we are honest and sincere, we can use the process of affirmation of truth and denial of error in prayer to uncover anything contrary to God and God’s idea (i.e. “sin”) that is residing in our thinking and thus eliminate the obstacle in thought that is preventing us from spiritually seeing what Spirit sees and knows.

I recently read the following article on this topic and wanted to share it with everyone:
